Re: West Ham Doomed

The Hammers look doomed for several reasons. There appear to be well defined cliques within the club - you have the new players and the old players and they dont get on. You have people like Reo Coker who openly says he is too good for the club and should be at a club like Arsenal or Man U. Conqeuently he thinks he doesnt need to try and gets complacent. The same can be said for Anton Ferdinand who also seems to believe his own hype and publicity. I read yesterday that young Mr Ferdinand jetted off to LA midweek for a piss up, while supposedly visiting his sick Grandma on the Isle of Wight. Stuff like that really bonds teams doesnt it. In with this group you have Marlon Harewood and Shaun Newton - again decidedly average players that now believe their own bullshit.

This group is resentful of the newcomers. Lucas Neill I see has been appointed captain. Not only has he been there 5 minutes and gets paid two or three times what they do, he is also now made club captain too. That must piss off the players that have been there a while. They got the club up, they kept it up and got to an FA Cup final and for what... Neill, Tevez and Upson must be hated by the more established group that have been there for years. Its human nature.

There was also the gambling story in the Sunday papers too. Quite clearly, some players do not have their eyes on the ball and are not fully focussed on giving their all for West Ham. How you can go into a game focussed, after losing £35k on the coach on the way there is beyond me.

The club needs shaking up. The big time charlies need to be offloaded and Crubs needs to start with a hard-core of players that actually give a shit and will try for the club.

Re: West Ham Doomed

I looked at the side yesterday and its no real surprise they are where they are.

Green - a Championship level keeper IMO. One belting save with his head yesterday though.

Neill - a middle of the road EPL right back on a massive salary. Would rather play for West Ham, and the money, than Liverpool.

Ferdinand - believes his own press, not a patch on his brother at that age.

Upson - injury prone centre half. Who cost £7.5m.

Davenport - Championship level centre half.

Konchesky - middle of the road EPL left back.

Bowyer - a shadow the Leeds player he was. Wouldn't be picked for any semi decent EPL side nowadays.

Quashie - Championship level midfield player.

Noble - hard to blame a young lad with a handful of apperances, a lot to ask for him to try and dig you out of a hole.

Etherington - squad player at best in EPL, probably a Championship level player.

Harewood - Championship level striker

Tevez - must look about and think WTF.

Zamora - squad player at best in EPL.

Conclusion - when you have so many Championship level players in your side, added to a bunch of mediocre middle of the road EPL players it seems pretty obvious your going to end up in the Championship.

How a player like Mascherano couldn't get a game amongst that lot I will never know. He looked decent at the World Cup yet Curbishley replaces him with Nigel Quashie. Benitez obviously rates him enough to take him to Liverpool.

They had a good season last season and there was the potential to build on it this season. A couple of good wide players, they had already added Tevez and Mascherano and a couple of good defenders and they would have improved.

Re: West Ham Doomed

Its odd the way everything went tits up. I would say it is down to ability rather than attitude. You rated their squad quite critically (I would have done pretty much the same) but lets not forget that its a stronger squad than last year.

Disagreements, squabbling and above all a lack of commitment has left them where they are. They have become complacent and need a good kick up the arse.
