Thought this deserved its own thread...

This could turn into a bit of a merry go round.... or could end up as nothing.

Chelsea sign Wright-Phillips, this then gives cash strapped City some wedge to spend. They had already called Ocean Finance and re mortgaged up to the hilt so to sell the familty silverware was their last option. Man City are able to put a bid in for Vassell using some of the cash raised in aforementioned deal.

This interested me as I was suprised he was available so cheap I know to compare the two is foolish, buthe is going to cost a third to a quarter what Crouchy cost Liverpool. Different players I know, but both good for 15 goals a year surely? Anyhow.... Villa off load Vassell on to City - Villa then look to sign Milan Baros. Apparently, he wants to move to a big city, seen as no one in London wants him - Birmingham will do.

I reckon thats why Rafa Benitez has included him in his squad tonight, as a sign to those hoping to get him on the cheap that hs is very much part of his first team plans still..... I think he wants to create a sense of urgency - a threat almost to those in Europe this year that Liverpool are willing to play him (and cup tie him) and arent going to be held out to dry.

I would bet that Liverpool will sell Baros and get Figo in as soon as they do....They still want him but I understand they are unwilling to commit to a contract whilst the wage bill is as high as it is...

Re: Thought this deserved its own thread...

Think you could be right - i have noticed Benitez talking him up and saying how Liverpool has been impressed with Baros's attitude so you could be onto something there.

Baros has taking a massive step back though hasn't he. I remember when he was linked with Real Madrid after his goal fest in the Euro Championships. Now it looks like Villa are the only ones interested in him.

Vassell could prove to be a shrewd bit of business for Villa. He had a poor season through injuries etc last season and will be looking to get back into the swing of things. Great pace and if he could touch his finishing up and convert more chances he will do very well for City.

Vassell - 15 goals a season??........youre having a laugh arent you....

He has been a bit part player for us the last 2 or 3 seasons & it was a bit like having a test player on a central contract, he only played very occasionally......v e r y occasionally !!

Something must be going on at Man City....are they playing 5 up front ??
I thought Keegan had left

Figo is defintely staying @ Real Madrid according to British Football Week today...100%

Re: Thought this deserved its own thread...

Swoop - he can surely manage 15 a season. He isnt a bad player, I alwasy thought he lacked presence and confidence. Maybe Pearce can help him along - he sure seems to have lost his way doesnt he.

On a different note, Tim Cahill looks like he is holding out for a new deal. He wants his salary doubling and Everton seem unwilling (or unable) to comply. I would love it, love it if we signed Tim Cahill. I think he would make a good replacement for Keane and would be suprised if man yoo dont bid...

Read in the paper today that apparently Ferguson is willing to sell Neville (Phil). Willing to sell him? Cheeky twat, he would take any offer he received. Truth of the matter is that no-one wants Pneville and no club in the country would come close to his 40k a week wage.

Cahill wants his salary doubling from 16 to 32k apparently, wonder how he feels about Pneville being on nearly 3 times as much as him. Bet he thinks he is worth it....

Didn't a certain Peter Crouch warm the bench for a while there too Swoops and only played occasionally......v e r y occasionally ??

Then look whats happened to him. Going to a new club can sometimes give players the good kick up the arse that they need sometimes.

Re: Thought this deserved its own thread...

Well swoops, it wouldnt at all suprise me. I genuinely hope baros settles down and gets first team football. He does try and has ability but it doesnt seem to have clicked for him at anfield really. He grafts himself into the ground poor lad, I love the way he chases down lost causes and never gives up. Part of me though wishes he wouldnt do it and that he would conserve his energy.

Hmmm... Good Luck to him and here's hoping we get £15 mil for him then again if Jenas is 'worth' it - so is Baros...

Re: Thought this deserved its own thread...

I reckon that if its true then the fee is about 6.5 million, & Liverpool have lowered it slightly as we are their 'preferred buyer', as it were....not in Europe, not from over the park & we were prepared to let him play if needed in Sofia......could be bullshit of course but thats how I read it.

Re: Thought this deserved its own thread...

Well, Essien moving for circa £25 million now means that Lyon can bid with the big boys for anyone that takes their fancy. Would Houllier be interested in coming in for Baros or even Michael Owen? What a boring pre season it would have been with out ol' Man Roman's cash swilling around keeping the tabloid hacks busy and the rumour mill-a-turning

Re: Thought this deserved its own thread...

Lyon apparantly were interested in a loan move for Owen a week or so ago. Now they have this cash they could get him in on either a loan or buy him.

Either way he would be a great addition to the side there. I still think if no Premiership club he likes dont make a move for him he will just join a side on loan for the season to keep him match sharp for the World Cup then use that as a stage to catapult him into a team's reckoning like your Chelsea, Man Utd's.
