The next big thing ?

Samuel Peters.
Heavyweight boxer from nigeria ....love his knickname " The Nigerian Nightmare "
Decent record ,24 fights 24 wins 21 inside the distance.
I think he,s fighting one of the Klitschko brothers in september.

"Sam sparred with Felix Savon (the legendary three-time Olympic king from Cuba) and knocked him out. And you show me a better jab than Savon's. Peter knocked him in and he's as good as anyone there's ever been in boxing.
So says Sams manager , but he,s gonna say that anyway isnt he ?
Still it sounds like he packs a punch which is about all you need in these days to become the heavyweight champ.
Definetly one to watch out for.....

Anyone seen him in action ?

Hippy Dave is on a distinguished road
Re: The next big thing ?

Breifly saw him in one of his fights + he looked nothing special. Might beat Wladmir Klitschko because all you need for that is a punch, but certainly not going to do a Lennox Lewis and become undisputed champion.

As for " packs a punch which is about all you need in these days to become the heavyweight champ", the facts don't back this up.

Lewis based his success on a jab, and of the current HW champs only Vitali Klitchsko relies on power as his main attribute - and he couldn't KO an out of shape and supposedly glass chinned Lewis. None of the other major HW champs are reliant on punch power. I'm not saying they're any good by the way.

If power was the key, then Mike Tyson would still be champ, as power is the one thing he hasn't lost.

Re: The next big thing ?

I agree with you Dave ......but Lewis retired almost two year ago...

I remember the days....... when we could all name the top 10 heavyweights , without using Google , how many can we name now ?

Aye......its all a bit sad....
