Genius Commentator Lines

Just heard one from Andy Gray there. Speaking to Martin Tyler like he was thick and didn't know.

"Martin, you know - there are so many ways to score goals in football"

Made me chuckle - heard some crackers before but none spring to mind at the minute.

Im sure someone can list some good ones.

Who is your least favourite commentator?

I know on a karma basis that you shouldn't laugh at other people's mis-fortune but Ron Atkinson did my head in. I have to admit to having a chuckle at him being burgaled cause the burglars knew he was on TV....just thought he was an irrelevant commentator...Trevor Francis is another one - my many Asenal mates hate him with a passion but he's got as much personality as a pack of cornflakes.....

Big Ron was a joke as far as i was concerned.

Everytime he commentated on a Man Utd game he gave me the boak !

I used to shout at him (as if he could hear me like) and my missus would get cheesed off.

Trevor Francis's voice just grates.

A new personal "favourite" of mine is Steve Claridge, a terrible co-commentator. Half the time he just laughs out loud.

The twat on ITV who seems to go into orgasms about Man Utd in the CL, Tyldlesley (??), a fud if ever there was one, he's the sort who always gets some mention of England or English clubs into games where there are not even involved.

Re: Genius Commentator Lines

Steve Claridge did quite a few games on Radio 5 last season, and from listening to him I don't think he was too popular with his fellow commentators, he comes across as a real smart arse, who picks up on every slight mistake in commentary and tries to put the other guy on the spot.
Unfortunately he has a bit of time on his hands for this season too.

He was actually the studio "expert" for Leeds v Millwall on Sky today

He did slate a couple of the Millwall players at the opening Leeds goal at HT. Didn't hear any more of his comments, I had other stuff to do like ironing and gardening
