Joe Cole Situation

How do you think he is going to fare this season??

I reckon the best thing for him to do right now is get out of Chelsea on a loan deal maybe and play regular football for the build up to the World Cup.

Got a fair share of matches last season but i can see this being drastically cut now. The only extra addition to midfield off the top of my head is Wright Philips, with Essien possibly on the way it makes for a lot of competition for such little places.

I realise he is the only player really of his kind as Robben, Duff, Wright Philips are more wide players and wouldn't have such a effect playng through the middle.

What do you reckon Mourinho will do and how will he use Cole this season?

He was used last season mainly to cover for the injuries to Robben, and to a lesser extent, Duff.

Lampard and Makelele are automatic selections, probably alongside Essien too if he signs. Cole will have problems getting into the team, but he seems happy at Chelsea

Essien deal appears to be dead now. Well you never can tell with this one but looks like it will not happen.

Gives Cole a better chance of playing but I think he will be 3rd choice on left of midfield now. Last year he was cover for Duff but with SWP signing it means Mourinho has the choice of playing Robben or Duff wide left if required and I think both would start ahead of Cole in that position.

Re: Joe Cole Situation

Got to remember Duff and Robben seem a bit prone to injuries though so SWP and Cole could be cover for both or will he try to get a fantastic sub for every position on the park ?

Cole does seem to be happy and will be on the type of package at Chelsea that few could match which would seem to rule out a move. Don't see Mourinho sanctioning a loan deal for a player of that calibre either.
