Re: City Players - Not fit to wear the shirt?

had a reply back off City - well done Karen!!!!!!!

Dear Mike,
I am not prepared to divluge the comtents of the aforementioned sandwich - that
must stay confidential between the Chairman and the Manager.

I can confirm that it was paid for by the Chairman out of his own pocket and not
from Club funds. Consequently it will not be included in the Club's Annual
Financial Results later this year.

Kind Regards

I think there will be a few more twists and turns after the City and West Ham results today b4 the seasons out, todays resullts just brought another 4 or 5 teams into the relegation battle especially if Charlton can get a result tomorrow.

What a result!

Pearce has his knockers but the poor bugger is doing the best he can.

Amazing result, I did not expect that.

We started a young lad called Michael Johnson today, he was in the year below me at my high school, so there is my claim to fame!

Quote:
Daniel Sturridge (born September 1, 1989) is a striker at football club Manchester City. Sturridge has excelled at youth level and has scored numerous times for the England Under-17 side, most notably at the European Under-17 Championship in the final against Italy. He has recently signed a new 3 year deal with Manchester City.

He attracted Chelsea's interest after his incredible performances for Manchester City's U18's on their way to the FA Youth Cup Final. Despite his two stunning long range efforts in the second leg against Liverpool they still succumbed to defeat after a 3-2 aggregate loss.

Sturridge, now 17, started out at Aston Villa and joined Coventry's academy as a 12-year-old, staying for just 14 months before deciding to make the switch to Man City in 2003.

A Football League appeals committee in 2006 has ordered Manchester City to pay Coventry City £30,000 compensation for Sturridge, a fee that will rise to £200,000 if he fulfils his potential and goes on to make 40 first team appearances and earns an international cap.

On top of that, Coventry will get 10 per cent of any future transfer fee if he is sold at a future date.

MATCH magazine's 'Annual 2007', named Sturridge as the 'Next Big Big Thing' in British football. He became only the second player to earn this title following in the footsteps of his former England Youths strikepartner, Theo Walcott - the 2006 winner!

On February 3, 2007, Sturridge made his Manchester City first team and FA Premier League début as a 74th minute substitute,[1] in the 2-0 defeat to Reading at the City of Manchester Stadium, replacing Georgios Samaras.[2] This makes 17-year-old Sturridge the youngest player to make a first-team appearance in the Premiership in 2007.

Indeed, with Stuart Pearce's Manchester City currently struggling woefully in front of goal, Sturridge's blistering pace and powerful finishing could soon see him representing the first-team on a regular basis. Spanish giants Barcelona reportedly keen on signing the youngster.
Our academy system is the best about.

i watched the game in the pub chris , Boro were terrible , truely awful but we did ok , Barton was busy and Jackson had a fine game , I'd prefer him to Ireland to be honest

Re: City Players - Not fit to wear the shirt?

I've never rated Ireland Ireland anyhow as i've yet to see him have a decent game against half decent opposition.
He played well in all the FA cup ties against Championship teams which may well be his level, so if things go tits up it may be in our interests to hold onto him for next season

Re: City Players - Not fit to wear the shirt?

Manchester City - 10 points from a possible 12 and they are on the up.

Pearce is a legend, Pearce for England.

I reckon they could do ok next season if they get a bit of cash in the summer. Defensively at least they are sound and Distin/Dunne played out of their skin yesterday and didnt give Fulham a sniff for the best part of the game. A couple of decent attacking options and they have the makings of a decent team.

Where's that Daniel Sturridge kid off to these days? I thought he would have at least played a few games for City this year, especially given how shit the rest of the strikers are. That M'Penza seems alright mind....

Re: City Players - Not fit to wear the shirt?

We've scored 10 goals at home AFU, 10 fukin goals.
With this defence and young talent we should at least be up their in the UEFA rekoning but Pearce hasn't got a clue.

Re: City Players - Not fit to wear the shirt?

I have to say I agree with every word Barton says here and it's a direct attack on the bleating that Pearce has done about the club not spending enough:

Quote:
Joey Barton has labelled Manchester City's season a failure and called for the club to come up with a spending plan to push them up the Premiership.

"This club and its fans deserve to be at the highest level," the England midfielder told BBC Radio Manchester.
"If I was a fan I wouldn't have paid to watch us at home this season.
"There has to be a plan. Everyone seems to have one in place but at the moment it just feels like this club is praying to get the right players this summer."
The 24-year-old signed a new four-year contract last summer but is frustrated by the limited progress under manager Stuart Pearce this season.
City have failed to score a Premiership goal at home since New Year's Day, and as well as questioning the value for money for the fans, Barton is also sceptical over the club's recruitment policy.
"There is no way Reading have spent more than us and no way Everton have either, but they seem to have overachieved," he added.
"Bolton have not spent big either. I know they paid a lot of money for Nicolas Anelka but we paid a lot for Georgios Samaras.
"You have to face facts. We have not brought quality in. One or two have done all right but not enough to take the team onto the next level.
"We can't gamble on players who have scored six goals in six games in the Pontins League or in Belgium.
"I know a lot of the supporters are umming and ahhing about whether to buy their season tickets. "They go out and work hard. It is a lot of money to buy a season ticket at our place and they are not getting value for money."
Thats 2 senior players going behind the managers back to critisise his team/signings/tactics.
