Kanoute Signs For Seville

Quote:
Spanish side Sevilla have signed Mali striker Fredi Kanoute from Tottenham in a £4.4m deal.
Kanoute has agreed a four-year deal with the Primera Liga club, who recently sold their star striker Julio Baptista to Real Madrid.

The 27-year-old becomes Sevilla's second major arrival in less than a week following their loan signing of Barcelona forward Javier Saviola.

Kanoute joined Tottenham from West Ham for £3.5m in the summer of 2003.
Good news from a Spurs point of view i reckon. Last season due to the quality of the 4 strikers Spurs had on offer Jol seemed to think he had to rotate them more times than he should have been whereas now he will have the chance to stick to a settled forward partnership.

Decent signing for Seville. Kanoute on his day is a fantastic player and scores great goals. Always struck me as being far too lazy at times which was his downfall. Can see him doing pretty well in Spain though.

This deal was only done to get some money to take Jermaine Jenas from Newcastle....Kanoute will flop in Spain and will be back in the premiership next season.

Skysports.com understand that Newcastle United are planning a last-ditch bid to grab Fredi Kanoute from under the noses of Sevilla.

The Spanish club claim they have agreed a deal with Spurs for the Mali international, with the move subject to a medical being completed. However, Newcastle are now hoping to scupper Sevilla's bid to sign Kanoute by offering him the option of St James' Park instead.

Dunno what to think of that!!

Another player who I can't understand the demand to sign. One good game in 10 doesn't constitute a EPL quality player. As Kiko says, he's not exactly famed for his effort. Keane and Defoe much better IMO.

Newcastle would be better without him. Although they are desperate for any sort of striker at the minute to be honest.

With Defoe and Keane you have players that will give 100% no matter what, especially Keane who wears his heart on his sleeve.

Kanoute seemed to do well whenever it suited him, be it against the better teams or whenever it was sunny.

He seemed to be first choice at spurs last season tho keeping Defoe on the bench...couldnt have been too bad.

Couldn't agree more Kiko. You get effort and movement out of Keane and Defoe.

Newcastle desperately need someone mobile who will play all over the front line and off Shearer (like Bellamy did). You can't imagine Kanoute being Shearer's "workhorse" can you?

Good bit of business for my club, one thing in he's defense is the service he was getting from our midfield was at times dreadful,I think that use to frustrate Keane too,put that along with a lot of our performances in the last couple seasons have been at times dreadful they had me cringe, especially away from home.Ok not a great goal to matches played ratio, but he has been playing for mid table premiership club.
