TRANSFER RUMOURS

But the Black Cats look set to land Juventus defender Giorgio Chiellini for £10.8m. (Sunday Mirror)

|
Everton want Portsmouth left back Matt Taylor. (Sunday Mirror) - do the Mirror not remember Everton spending £6m on Leighton Baines a week or so ago? Fair enough the rumour mill is usually all made up bollocks but at least try and make them semi believable.
I loved this one - Newcastle will offer Emre to Barcelona in an attempt to sign Deco. (News of the World) - yep, cos Barca are sooooo lacking in midfield that they would need a mental Turkish midget who has one good game every ten to get them back on track. I mean really, fuck off.

Fifteen Million Pounds Sterling!
Someone's having a laugh here surely?
This is a player that hasnt broken into the international fold proper, plays his football for a Championship team and yet is somehow "worth" £15m.
If anyone pays that for him, they are seriously deluded. Cant blame West Brom for trying to get the best price for him, but surely they are having a giraffe if they think his true value is fifteen mil.

Cant fathom this one. Reportedly turned down moves to both Everton and Sunderland and then leaves after a month? Unless pompey are trying to raise funds for one Nicholas Anelka?

Seems to be more in this Jol to go story than just idle pash spouted by the tabloids. Why would he want to sell Berbatov? He paid decent for him, £10m or so and its not like he is going to get £25m for him, besides surely he would rather have Berbatov than £15m profit.

I like how they sometimes sort of throw a story like this in, with the majority of the people reading saying "So fucking what". Bit like them including the Scottish football rumours I suppose

Re: Karl-Heinz Rumour Mill
Sky Sports have Spurs making a move for Riquelme, which is just what you would expect when they are about to empty their manager
Quote:
Juan Roman Riquelme's agent claims Tottenham Hotspur have made an offer for the Argentinian playmaker.
Villarreal are willing to sell Riquelme after the player spent the second half of last season back in Argentina with Boca Juniors.
There has been interest from several clubs across Europe, but reports suggest Spurs have lodged a 15million euros (£10million) bid.
Riquelme's representative Marcos Franchi feels Villarreal should accept the offer from Tottenham, who have already spent heavily over the summer.
The Spanish side's president Fernando Roig is considering the bid and Franchi is waiting for an official response from Riquelme's current club.
Good offer
"Despite that we haven't been told anything officially, we know that Villarreal has received a very important offer from Tottenham and that the president Fernando Roig is analysing it," Franchi told Radio La Red.
"They have to make a decision before August 31, otherwise Riquelme will stay at Villarreal as there aren't any other serious negotiations.
"If nothing new appears I think that they should accept this offer as it is good for the club and the player.
"I don't think that Riquelme would be useful for Villarreal without playing.
"It would be much more useful for them to sell him so they recover what they invested in him when they bought him."

Transfer or assasination, either one would be a benefit for Newcastle.
