I would have my doubts about signing a player who wears gloves on a warm London afternoon in mid May

Surely not? A cracking little player but cant see Sven picking him - too risky for Mr Burns surely.

Time to resurrect the rumour thread methinks.

The papers are buzzing with tittle tattle - no doubt most of it is complete bollocks but I will still stick them up here for your enjoyment.

Robben will be one of many recruits at Bayern, who are so stung at missing out on Champions League qualification for the first time in 178 years that they've vowed to sign almost an entire new team. Fiorentina front man Luca Toni and Werder Bremen's Miroslav Klose are also in their sights, and they're even pondering re-signing Zé Roberto, currently going down a storm at Santos. Ajax striker Klaas Jan Huntelaar is also being chased by the German also-rans, but word is his most likely destination is Manchester United. Or Juventus. For some reason, none of those clubs are interested in Marlon Harewood, who, as soon as he's finished celebrating West Ham's Premiership survival, will be sold to ... relegated Watford.

Mark Viduka's wobbling up and down metaphorical European catwalks in the hope of catching the eye of someone who isn't Middlesbrough. Newcastle just about fit that bill.

Elsewhere in the north-east, Roy Keane is glaring in the general direction of The Hawthorns as he prepares to make West Brom an offer they can't refuse for flame-haired defender Paul McShane. Keane, for all the Mill knows, may also be one of the hundreds of managers drooling over Marseille wonder-winger Franck Ribéry, who's set to reject everyone except AC Milan.

Bundesliga bottlers Schalke 04 want Jérôme Rothen from PSG. And Deportivo la Coruna are also planning some summer shopping in Paris - and for some unfathomable reason have Colombian centre-back and incorrigible shirt-puller Mario Yepes on their list.

Some interesting stuff in today's papers. Intruiged by a few of them:

West Ham striker Carlos Tevez is set for a £30m move to Real Madrid - with West Ham not seeing a penny of any fee. (The Sun)

But Tevez will decide on his future next week. (Daily Express)

The Hammers will this week make a £12m bid for Charlton captain Darren Bent. (Daily Star)

Spurs have also put Bent at the top of their shopping list, for around £10m. (Daily Express)

And they are in the hunt for Barcelona's out-of-favour former Chelsea frontman Eidur Gudjohnsen, too. (Daily Star)

Portsmouth defender Sol Campbell has moved a step closer to joining Newcastle. (Daily Mirror)

Phil Jagielka is set to walk out on Sheffield United with Everton, Liverpool, Aston Villa and Wigan interested. (Daily Mirror)

Praise the lord, Manchester United have finally agreed an £18m fee with Bayern Munich for Owen Hargreaves. (Daily Star)

Spurs' interest in Nigel Reo-Coker's has cooled, with Everton and Sunderland watching developments. (Daily Mirror)

Obafemi Martins could be on his way out of Newcastle, with Valencia and Juventus already in talks over a £13m move. (The Sun)

Portsmouth remain favourites to sign Mark Viduka, who is out of contract at Middlesbrough. (Daily Mail)

Glen Johnson has snubbed a permanent move to Portsmouth to fight for a first-team place at Chelsea. (Daily Mirror)

Portsmouth and West Ham have made enquiries about Watford youngster Hameur Bouazza. (Daily Mirror)

Swansea, Hartlepool and Hibernian have lodged bids for £150,000-rated Hull striker Darryl Duffy. (Daily Star)

West Ham boss Alan Curbishley is tracking Benfica's Portuguese striker Nuno Gomes. (Daily Mirror)

Celtic and Rangers are set to battle for the services of former Liverpool striker Robbie Fowler. (Daily Mirror)

Wolves defender Jackie McNamara will sign a two-year deal with Aberdeen by the end of the week. (Daily Record)

Re: Karl-Heinz Rumour Mill

Quite why Spurs are after Darren Bent when they have Keane, Defoe, Berbatov and the shoe bomber is beyond me.

Maybe Keane is on his way out...? I heard from a Sunderland fan that Keane is keen on Keane and that a deal was imminent. Sounds crazy, but I do think Sunderland are a decent team to play for now they have a good set-up. Would fit in with the Irish vision they have there.

Re: Karl-Heinz Rumour Mill

Oh and Sol Campbell would be a good acquisition for the Toon. Just the sort of player to compliment Steven Taylor and help him in his development. Was very suprised when they decided not to bid for him this time last year. Roeder thought he was too old, apparently....

Whats your thoughts on that?

£4.4 million is a bit steep for a Scottish player. Or maybe im just so use to clubs snatching players for pennies that this amount seems obscene.

Looked absolute quality against Italy it has to be said but since then his form has dipped a bit.

Im seeing him down as Lennons replacement by a few? Didn't strike me as a Lennon style of player at all
