Re: Owen signs 4 year deal....

Sad that Benitez decided not to take Owen back, the opportunity to take him back and offload Cisse/Morientes hopefully was one too good to miss.

It was a win/win situation for Owen. If Liverpool decided not to sign him, he wont be seen as a traitor because he always said he wanted to return and it was Benitez who wasnt interested. Lets just hope that Liverpool's season gets up and running sooner rather than later because otherwise the boo boys will be calling for Benitez's head. We all know that football fans are right cocks.....

Re: Owen signs 4 year deal....

I know, some people have short memories dont they. They must get rent-a-rant in whenever they need a cock to burn a shirt or a flag for the cameras. I remember when they set a Stevie G shirt on fire, the day before he signed his new contract

The word massive is very much over used in this day and age. Every day on talk sport - we hear talk like 'Brighton are a MASSIVE club and deserve a new stadium' blah blah...

but......this decision is a massive mistake for Owen. I am sure he will make a big go of it wherever he goes - but surely he cant see newcastle as being the club where he wants to spend the best of his days......

What an idiot. A career-ending move if there ever was one.

Re: Owen signs 4 year deal....

Well this is a great signing for Newcastle and is as best as they could've hoped for with bringing a striker in.

Now i think it is time that Souness should be judged from here onwards. He has got rid of the trouble makers etc he didnt want and seems to have made all the signings he wanted now so if things dont go well from here on its only himself to blame.

kiko - I agree that souness should be judged from this point onwards. Apparently Fat Freddy has said that he has 8 games to get things moving....

Well thats their next 8 fixtures. They only have themselves to blame if they can't get at least 14+ points from them games.

Quite a good set of fixtures to be honest - i could see them going through this with maybe 1 defeat. It will all come down to whether they can go that bit further and get the victory rather than settling for draws.

Re: Owen signs 4 year deal....

What a great signing....this is the signing of the summer without doubt, Newcastle will be finally scoring goals again!

Liverpool obviously couldnt afford the £17m...god knows how Newcastle could!!

Re: Owen signs 4 year deal....

Newcastle cant get any worse really....Luque and Owen can only improve them. They seem ok defensively so this should get them a few goals and some wins which will get them up into the top 6!
