Great Britain team for the 2012 games

Should be some fun there when the time comes , but say it was now what team would u pick?

think i'd plump for..........Biggest decision was picking King over Rio but after last yrs display he's shown he can hack it when it matters. Was also tempted to put in SWP instead of Beckham but have gone for experience but unlike Erickson i'd drop him @ the drop of a hat if he didnt perform after a game and half. Saying that who would the manager be? @ the mo i'd opt for ehhm ! ehhm!! ehhm?................................Well it could only be Stuart pearce

Robinson
G Neville
Cole
Terry
King
Lampard
Gerrard
Giggs
Beckham
Rooney
Owen

I only added Giggs cause i consider Joe Cole to much of a risk as he loses the ball too much, i missing someone on the left here and i cant think of him, no doubt someone will tell me.

Fcuk weve ended up with an England team near enough, plse tell me im not wrong

I would of said:

James
Neville
Cole
Terry
Ferdinand
Lampard
Gerrard
Cole
SWP
Owen
Rooney

So pretty much the England team then

Can anyone make a justifiable argument for a Scottish player being involved?

Slick - I said it in another thread - if its a true GB team - the gaffer will make allowances and include weaker players to appease the minorities. Arr none really would make the team, for me - given his age - giggs would be on the bench. Cudicini would be the only possible suprise 'non-english' player if he was up for it...

I don't think anyone can argue there should be any other players in your teams listed to be honest. Some rule would have to be brought in though at least with 1 player starting from each of the home nations otherwise it would just become a farce.

I thought they had to be u-23? Also I think AFU is right if GB are going to put a team in then at least one of each nation will be represented.

8 years away but a shambles of an idea. Wouldn't want anyone in "your" team from our country. 1 nation, not 4.

Chris, as above, I wouldn't want our players in "your" team. You can stick that team where the sun don't shine IMO.

Re: Great Britain team for the 2012 games

As in the thead title Crowie asking for your GB team, i gave my GB team and now your telling me to stick it up my ass? You taking that "were the best fans in the world" and "we don't need you, were fine on are own" stance?

It's irrelivant wether you would or not Crowie, If there was to be GB team, I was asking an honest question, not trying to be a smart ass but could any Scottish player made a GB 11 in anyones opinion.

I will stick that team in the World cup and we'll see you in the Euro qualifiers

Ask anyone north of the border, we don't give a fuck now or in 7 years time. One nation, not four.

Well on todays form we may consider the Keeper

i'm the same as you Crowie and think its a load of bollox, it'll stir a hornets nest if ever the time comes and the selectors are on a hiding to nothing, it'll never work and the sooner they see that the better.

The Scots sure are passionate about their country and can understand Crowie's statement. Watching the Scots singing Flower of Scotland before the game yesterday, was pretty impressive made me want to watch Braveheart again.

Re: Great Britain team for the 2012 games

Will anyone want to compete in this Team GB? I thought the sportmen had to be amateur for a start hmmm....??

Anyhow - we will have a stressful Domestic campaign (possibly a Euro League for the big clubs), Champions League, European Championships and then the Olympic Games too.... Will players have to pick between the Euro's and the Olympics? Dont they usually happen at the same time...? Maybe there wont be any English Players in the team at all and maybe it will be just the best of the rest flying the flag for Queen and Country. I think it would be good if the 'elite' players were at the Euro's and then we had an XI mixture of Scots, Irish, Welsh and England B - could be a good thing - a true uniting factor to sing the same anthem under the old flag of the Union....arrr brings a tear to my eye
