TDP's Graeme Sour-ness Sweep

Right - living in the Toon I hear nothing but the 'faithful' Tune Our Me moaning about Souness. Anyone fancy doing a Souness sweep to see how long he has left in the job? We could do a nearest to pin - in days - each chipping in a quid via Paypal. Err obviously the proceeds would errrrr arrr go to charity. If you have all been following the ever perfect system and have spunked your cash already, would still be interested to see how long everyone thinks he has left in the job.

Much as I feel sorry for the guy and fail to see who they will get to replace him (that will do a better job), I will go for Monday 24th October.

Btw, banter around here is that people such as Martin O'neill and Ottmar Hitzfeld would be interested in the job. :loon I think theres more chance Mick McCarthy or Steve McLaren managing them than a decent manager like Hitzfeld. If Sour-ness goes - you would be looking at a second rater like Hoddle/Pleat/Brooking or the leader of the Geordie Nation himself... Someone with an over inflated reuptation that isnt justified and who's "persona" outweighs their achievements.

Would be good to see Shearer get the Toon relegated...that'd put that twats in their place

FUCK ALL, YOU'VE NEVER WON FUCK ALL.....

Re: TDP's Graeme Sour-ness Sweep

I think Souness will be given the whole season and if he doesnt finish in the top 6 then he is gone....fat fred has given him too much support in the transfer market to ditch him straight away!

Martin O'neill would be a good bet to take over!

Re: TDP's Graeme Sour-ness Sweep

Top 6 your avin a larf aint ya Jesus. Would need some real divine intervention for that to happen.

They will never get in the top 6 with that joke of a defence. Plus its been something like 18 games and no goal for shearer in open play, possibly more. Drop the fat has been.

I think his last goal was against us, I was at that game and Shearer was picking the ball out of play, someone shoued "Oi Shearer" he looked up and the guy said "You old bastard" That was hilarious as its so true.

Re: TDP's Graeme Sour-ness Sweep

Cant see Martin O'Neill personally, but theres a much bigger chance of him doing it next summer than if he goes during the season.
I reckon they'll go back in for somebody like Bruce or O'Leary, both of which, if the timings right, would take it this time I reckon.
Have to say if you'd asked me to do a list of thirty I would'nt have Pleat or Brooking in it......where on earth did they come from Funkt ???

Re: TDP's Graeme Sour-ness Sweep

swoop - i was just re gurgitating the same shite names that circulate everytime a job is available. the toon fans are desperate to get rid of Souness - when I ask them who they want instead they honestly come out with bizarre names. They are so short sighted.

They honestly believe that Allardyce and Pearce would take that job and drink from the poisoned chalice. Just because 50'000 mugs turn up each week - doesnt make them a big club. Funnily enough they dont take the banter so well.....

The way I see it, with the injuries they have - they will lose 2 out of the next 4, draw with sunderland and Souness will go the day after.

The fans are now blaming Souness for the injuries the players have.... saying that they have 40% of all the premiership's hamstring injuries.... Saying its bad management....ha ha Anything to do the guy down eh.....

Re: TDP's Graeme Sour-ness Sweep

you see swoops - i always knew he was good http://www.thedailypunt.com/forum/showthread.php?t=1029

Must say, for 3 players that havent played together before, Crouch Garcia and Pongolle looked sharp last night. The second goal especially was well worked. Aye very pleased with Little Pete's contribution so far....

Swoops - I was tellin them that Owen doesnt make a team and that they'd still be in the bottom 3 come December. They just moaned at me and said I was bitter. I think the 'killer' blow was the international break. The euphoria died down and it was back down to reality. Had they been able to play the Fulham game that weekend - the momentum would have been with them and I think they would have won. Oh and it was the international break(s) that did for Emre and Luque...

Re: TDP's Graeme Sour-ness Sweep

I recall Liverpool fans blaming Souness for all the teams injuries when he was there too. He's probably had it at every club. The Newcastle fans usually manage to force out folk they don't like but Christianu has a point in that he has been given a few bob to spend so anyone coming in would be a little stuck there. I have no opinion really on how long he might last.

Re: TDP's Graeme Sour-ness Sweep

arr 7 days and counting. this weekend (derby day at St James') is the be all and end all as far as NUFC are concerned.

The lads in work were a bit dejected today TBH with the result at Wigan. One of them said they would bounce back and do the Maccams 5-0 on Sunday. Expectations are inexplicably high and there's talk of Dyer and Emre both playing this weekend.

Once again, dont see where the optomism comes from..... This time next week Mr Souness will be going to the Job Centre, P45 in hand.....

Re: TDP's Graeme Sour-ness Sweep

While they didn't produce much in the game at all the Toon were hard done to with the Shearer header disallowed and Ameobi's penalty claim. Still, these are the sort of things that can swing a managers job safety.

I thought Dyer was out til Xmas? Emre played 2nd half v Wigan.

Quote:
Are some of you people taking the pi$$, or what? The sole ambition of this club is to beat Sunderland at home? The dead-cert relegation favourites, visiting SJP, and we're all told by some of you people on here to 'wait and see how good we'll be'...lordy, lordy, lordy....where has our ambition disappeared to?? A quarter of the way through the season and it's 9 points from as many games. I hate to remind some of you optimists of all the grounds we haven't been to yet, but I will. They include Old Trafford, Stamford Bridge, White Hart Lane and Anfield. Please be aware that if we carry this form on for the rest of the season, which is already around 25% done, we will end up with 38 points.

That is a relegation fact, my friends.

I have some more shocking news for all those who reckon that, once all of our players are fit and, somehow, able to play for more than 75 minutes of any one match, Souness will "come good" (snigger) - we can't play Sunderland at home every week. I know, it isn't fair, is it?

Seriously - if some of you are suggesting that we use SUNDERLAND at HOME as the gauge for how good we are, then you've really, really lost the plot!

I have some more bad news - something I heard this morning - once those decent players come back, there is actually STILL a chance that MORE injuries could happen. Plus suspensions to. I KNOW! It's outrageous to even suggest it, but there is the mildest possibility that a team who has sustained injury problems for the entire of the current managers tenure MIGHT JUST have more injuries to deal with in the future. I checked the rule book, and there's no let up from those tight wads at the FA.....

I don't want to rain on any parade, as the last few matches have shown that we have turned a corner.....oh, wait a minute. No they haven't. They have been exactly the same as they were a year ago, and again in March. A couple of scraped points here and there, with the promise of better to come, which never materialises. But no doubt I am being unfair, and I should wait until all the current crop are back, then another 6 games. If, at the end of this 14 game period, we only have another 14 points, it'll be time for a change, I suppose?? However, do you not think that if we sit and wait for all these players to return, then give more games, whilst our only gauge for success is if we can beat Sunderland at home, we'll be shooting ourselves in the foot???

I'm telling you all, once and for all, that this man is a joke. He is bad at his job. No professional team should turn up 9 games on the trot looking like they met half an hour before kick off. No team should have such an abysmal run of injuries - Lee Bowyer now on the treatment table with a muscle pull?!? FFS!! He needs to go. End of story. There is no way we can get worse without this tactically-inept, old-skool, outdated moron. A pigeon could do a better job. Given, Boumsong, Bramble, Carr, Bowyer, Emre, Parker, Shearer, N'Zogbia, Owen - any team with these players should be giving WIGAN a game, end of chat. There's no excuse for it at all. YES we'll be better with our best players - it's a no-brainer. But we MUST be good ENOUGH now, surely? 4 injuries and we're ALWAYS going to get beat?!?! That isn't the NUFC I know - shame on any of you for thinking it is.

I've had enough. Much, much more than enough. I won't say the words, but I will accept ANYTHING to get Souness out. Hopefully, for ALL OF US, we won't have to wait much more than another 7 days.

PS. I will not entertain a pro-Souness view any more. There is no more argument to be had on the subject.
