O Neil Still On Celtic's Payroll

Quote:
Former Celtic manager Martin O'Neill is still on the club's payroll five months after leaving his role at Celtic Park, BBC Scotland understands.
He is being paid for what has been termed a "consultancy role", though current manager Gordon Strachan says he has not spoken to O'Neill since July.

Celtic have refused to officially comment on the matter.

The News of the World states that O'Neill's salary over two years is £500,000. Celtic are £19.5m in debt.

O'Neill was credited with a significant role in identifying Strachan as his successor.
Just been reading this one and i find it bizarre considering i thought O Neil left on his own accord and that was that

Celtic can't be afford things like this with the debt they have building up and looking like increasing after missing Europe this season.

Seems very strange, and must be true since they didn't deny it when asked

I agree there Crowie but things like this aren't from nothing. Transfer speculation yes.

Have to go with Zonker and wonder why they didn't deny it, but instead refused to comment.

Re: O Neil Still On Celtic's Payroll

Maybe the figures of £500,000 per year or so are over the top, but it seems to me there is something in it.

Either way though, it's Celtic's business I suppose, just like if they want to give any other employee, including players, a pay rise or a lucrative contract for doing not a lot.
