Blessing In Disguise For Newcastle

Quote:
Newcastle United expect to lose striker Alan Shearer for three weeks when he undergoes a hernia operation in November.

The former England captain has been soldiering on in recent weeks as Newcastle have improved following a below-par start to the campaign.

Magpies manager Graeme Souness sees a window of opportunity for Shearer to undergo the operation next month and wants to get the veteran feeling 100 percent.
Reason i say this could be a blessing in disguise for Newcastle and a Saviour for Souness is because Shearer took one season too many imo as he was desperate to get the goals record for Newcastle.

Since the turn of the year i think its 2 league goals he has had in the EPL and if he wasn't a hero to the fans and captain he would've been benched a long time ago.

Before anyone comes in saying Ameobi and Chopra are useless, i agree but they will have a better impact than Shearer has i reckon.

Plus Dyer will maybe be deployed up front so only Ameobi will be playing with Owen and Shearer out.

I agree that Shearer hasnt made much of an impact this season but he still holds up the ball better than anyone else and he is alot more effective and hard working than Ameobi and Chopra.

Holds the ball up well??

Not when i have watched the games. He is slow and less mobile and the defenders get the better of him more times than other.

Nowhere near the Shearer of old that had battles with defenders all through game.

And as for effective? I am yet to see that. Look at the stats and you will see his goals scored and assists and it will be countable on one hand.

Dyer is back for the game tomorro at grimsby, very good news.

And as for shearer, he may not have the goals or assists but he gives 100% in every match unlike Ameobi.

Re: Blessing In Disguise For Newcastle

Ameobi is just another Carlton Cole. Clumsy, stupid, no first touch, no composure in front of goal and mighty lucky to be playing in the Premier League.

Chopra has been the next big thing for too long. Did OK at Barnsley on loan last season, but hardly set the world alight, and that's League One. That's probably about his level.

Shearer may have lost a bit of pace, but he's a better option than those two
