I was just coming on here to start a new thread kicking off at all this "we aregoing to win the world cup pish".

Its simple - you's wont. Quarter final side at best.

You's get one good FRIENDLY result and now you's are going to be world beaters. Such a change from a couple months back when Northern Ireland beat you's. Everyone was calling for the coach to be sacked etc, and i didnt hear any world cup talk then.

Look at say Englands last 15 performances. How many games have they actually looked a really good side? 4 or 5 max?

Nothing to do with being Scottish either as i support and want all British sides to win so noone can throw that shite back at me.

If u had watched the game kiko u would have realised that it was no friendly....u could tell by the way the fans and players were reacting...both teams had near enough strongest teams out and were playing like it was a world cup final.

In a way its a shame that Owen got to the winner ahead of Crouch as on a humane level it would have been nice for him to score to shut the boo-boys up........but that doesnt get away from the fact that hes not international class

It wasn't a surprise that the game was played like a normal game though. Everyone expected and predicted this prior to the game starting so i wouldn't look into it as there is a lot of history between the two countries.

It was still only a friendly regardless ofhow well England plays and counts for nothing. England will falter and shatter all your dreams once again when they getto the finals.

England are capable of winning the world cup imo if all their players are on form....although it will take an immense display to stop Brazil.

To be fair - it was a fantastic result when you take into account the rankings, but then when you see it was basically a second string side from USA it kind of puts it into perspective really of what a downward spiral Scotland have been on.

For the size of our nation though compared with the size of America you'd expect there to be a turnaround in who's the better side over time like has happened.

To be fair tho Scotland have had some decent away results recently and are definitely improving under Walter Smith.

What a load of old crap you posted here Kiko. How do you guarantee anything? True England might not win the WC - in fact the odds against suggest that we wont - BUT we do have a slight chance as one of probably eight teams that could win it.

England, Brazil, Argentina, Holland, Italy, Spain, Czech Republic or France. (Two of these sides might not even make the finals giving us an even better chance). Now if England don't win the thing people like you will pop up and say "I told you so" when actually you didn't know fcuk all to begin with. You just weighed up the odds.

Well i don't think they are one of the sides capable of winning it Gett1n.

Most overrated side in the world imo.

The only quality they have in their side to me is Terry, Lampard, Owen and Rooney.

People will come in arguing Gerrard but he is a player that for the big games when it counts goes missing and i don't think he seems to fit in the midfield very well.

Lampard could have the same arguement aswell actually as he doesn't seem the be the same quality for England as he is for Chelsea.

My shortlist to win would probably consist of Brazil, Argentina for sure. Possibly Italy and Germany too as the Germans do have home advantage and it always counts for a lot here.

Italy are a side that could go all the way but they seem to be very inconsistent at the minute so i ain't so sure.

Outsiders. Well the Swedish i think are a real dark horse. Solid outfit and will give any side a good game in this finals.

USA also could surprise a few people with their side which when full strength are a very good pacy attacking outfit.

This is typical england over reaction nonsense. They need to get rid of this attitude if they ever want to have a chance of winning anything.
Here's how it went, england are 2-1 down, motson is like well england put in a decent performance, they came at argentina, all quite placid.
Now when they are 3-2 up, all of a sudden it's a competitive match and he's talking about winning the world cup ? Wtf ?
Reminds me of, england being 1-0 up to france in a certain tournament. They're talking about winning that tournament, a few minutes later it's 2-1 france and they are shiting it they won't even get past the group stages !

All this over this match and it's a fecking friendly ! OK sure there maybe bad blood between the 2 teams involved but at the end of the day it's a friendly.
Argentina in a friendly and argentina in the world cup is a different match methinks.
England certainly look a decent side, they've got the players, but they always seem to lack that wee something, be it killer instinct, bottle, luck, call it what you want. If someone says world cup or good world cup football team the first thing that always springs to my mind is Brazil,. England are a very good football team, just not world class.
