Re: Should Be In For A Cracking Finish

Everton are a bit boring arent they, im not saying they play boring football because I dont watch them much, my own team City play the most boring football in the league, but theres something exciting about manchester city.

Everton are just weird, its like yeah were Everton we won 1-0. Evertonnn weird.

Nice one muse, thats proper sweet, Moyes is top class isn't he.

Everton dont really get the credit they deserve, bolton get tons of it and everton very little.

I was just slating Everton saying everything about the club just reeks of boredom in another thread too

Have to say you cant argue with their goal difference etc. They are going well and they dont get nearly enough credit for it all.

And about breaking into the top 4....does anyone think its actually possible for the top 4 stranglehold to be broken?

I can't see it happening for a long time yet unfortunately

Yeah remember that now actually.

Liverpool are a far stronger side/squad now than they used to be. Gets a bit boring seeing the big 4 in the CL each season doesnt it.

Re: Should Be In For A Cracking Finish

It's easy to break into the 'top 4'

If you think about it, its not a static clique. Since the inception of the Premiership we have had lots of different teams in the Top 4 slots.

Man U
Arsenal
Liverpool
Chelsea
Leeds
Blackburn
Newcastle
Tottenham

I think the only way to get into the top 4 is to get a good manager and spend wisely. Arsenal in the last 10 years havent spent anywhere near as much as say Newcastle or Leeds and yet they are in the elite. It is a total myth that you have to outspend to outperform.

People seem to think it's a closed shop and that only the rich clubs can get in there. Complete tosh. Of course money helps, but if you spend it on Luque, Bramble and Viana - you may as well not bloody bother.

Re: Should Be In For A Cracking Finish

It is getting harder to bridge that gap though AFU.

Since season 2000/1 you have had the following teams in the top 4.

Man Utd 6 times (7 after this season)
Arsenal 6 times (7 after this season)
Liverpool 4 (5 after this season)
Chelsea 4 (5 after this season)
Newcastle 2
Everton 1
Leeds 1

Thats as close to it being a close shop with actually being one AFU.

Of the teams to break the monopoly, Everton, it could be argued did so with Liverpool having one (or both) eye on the CL in 2005. Newcastle have no chance of getting back and Leeds, well, they got there on a good young side coming together at the right time, gambled and it failed badly afterwards.

Chelsea have been top 2 in every season since Romans money kicked in, this will be the 4 season on the bounce they are top 2.

Liverpool can only improve with the American money to spend.

Man Utd, well nowt much else you can say. They have the basis of an excellent, youngish team and despite all the worries over the Glazers, haven't disappeared into a financial pit.

Arsenal are the ones who look weakest to me. Henry hasn't had his usual season, injuries playing up, is his heart really in it. They have a new ground (still getting used to), a excellent young team, a manager who doesn't have to spend millions to get good players but I just get this feeling that they need a couple of battlers in their side as its been proved on many occasions that the nice ball players don't like it up em.

I would be surprised, giving the rough make ups of their squads, if Man U, Chelsea or Liverpool were to take a fall out of the top 4 over the next couple of seasons. Arseanal possibly but even then, thats asking a bit.

Also, who is going to challenge them? Some teams get close, some almost do it but these teams struggle to maintain the consistancy season on season to push on and give it a real challenge. They also don't have the strength of squads to maintain a challenge. Look at Spurs, UEFA Cup run and now down in 9th?

Unless one of the challengers is taken over by a "Roman" then it will be same top 4 for a few seasons yet. Unless one of them employs Greame Souness as manager.

Dont forget Spurs nearly did last year. If only it wasnt for a dodgy curry. But then weve all fallen foul of that at some point to be fair.

Muze no one gives a shit about your beloved Everton - the most boring club side in England

Man Utd are going to throw this away imo. Their turn to get injuries building up now and they havent been as impressive as expected at home to Boro and Sheff Utd.

If Newcastle lose tomorow then i fancy Chelsea to go on to win the league.

Re: Should Be In For A Cracking Finish

Its exciting check it out man, theres gona be a real ruck for those europe places as the ones that are further ahead (us and Bolton) have really tough games. Basically we need to beat Pompey when we play them, if we dont were fcuked I really reckon.

You could be right about Utd, very unimpressive today, first time I seen em where I didnt fancy them to get that important goal just didnt sense they would get it as the second half wore on. I really fancy Chelsea to beat Utd when they play them for some reason, I wonder what the odds will be as I might bet that, 6/4 id have a piece.

Relegation is still confusing. Massive equaliser for Sheff Utd and I fancy them to be safe now as they have Watford and Wigan at home and they really should win one of those and thats enough. If I had to pick one team out the 5 to not go down itd be them.

Re: Should Be In For A Cracking Finish

Only winding you up about Everton Muze. Its going to be an exciting push for europe.

West Ham have to win away to Wigan next game or else they are down. 3 points behind and their goal difference is far worse than the rest and with 3 games its going to be tough with last game away to Man Utd.

Be typical of Chelsea to lose tomorow wouldnt it. Hope they dont as thats the league over if they do.

Re: Should Be In For A Cracking Finish

They have won 8 in a row havent they, I dont know how they do it, they are literally just a big blue machine.

What a game that is going to be, even city could end up thwarting uniteds title charge I mean we are pretty hard to beat these days. Cant see us winning but a 0-0 draw is on the cards for sure!

Also the championship as in division 1 is looking very very interesting, I hope Colchester get that last play off spot, imagine that, Colchester in the premiership. There manager last year who left them for Hull must be absolultely kicking himself.

Oooo its so exciting.

Not for city of course, the race for 10th is on!
