Very true. Peter Ridsdale wasn't known as Father Christmas for nothing. Johnson was apparently being paid £43,000 per week plus bonuses

I heard a story about Johnson that he was in contract talks with Ridsdale when at Leeds, wanting a rise. He was wanting around £22 grand a week and to extend his contract. His agent told him before hand not to be disappointed if Leeds came in around the 20 grand mark....

Apparently he walked into Ridsdale's office and he had prepared a contract offering £38 grand a week. Unsuprisingly Johnson bit his hand off.......
