Cameroon v Ivory Coast

Anyone catch this game last night?

Missed the first 90 minutes so can't comment on the game as a whole but from extra time through to penalties was one of the best football viewing i hae ever witnessed, right up there with your Man Utd comeback in the CL final, Liverpool last season.

End to end great attacking football in extra time and then what a finale in the penalty shootout.

Never seen anything like it before - the first 22 penalties being scored with even the keepers scoring. And bar one poor pen by the keeper the other 21 were some of the best penalties you will ever see.

Couldn't help pishing myself laughing from about 4-4 in pens each side winding up theother that when one scored they would run up to their opponents and start taunting them (not the best sporting behaviour ).

And then for the final penalty to be missed by Etoo, one of the best strikers in the world and usually absolutely clincal from the spot made for fairytale ending (obviously not for Cameroon mind)

Re: Cameroon v Ivory Coast

Me and my mate were in the Sports Cafe in newcasle watching it. Everyone else was pretty oblivious but I was cheering on my team (the mighty 'Roon) like a mad fucker. We picked teams and were supporting them like crazy. Jumping around like pissed twats when the penalties were on...

I dont think I could take that same drama as an england fan. I'll settle for missing the first 3 and getting it over and done with thanks very much. God I feel hungover this morning...........

Im off to get a peanut butter sandwich and a brew

I thought it was fantastic entertainment !!!

One penalty was saved but had to be retaken as the keeper was well of his line but what a way to go !! - Eto was the poor sod that ballooned his 2nd and his sides 12th over the bar.

Class wasnt it Keg!

I cant imagine what it must have been like to support either team - the suspense and the Agony of 24 penalties

Re: Cameroon v Ivory Coast

The Ivory Coast keeper was way off the line for every single penalty. Eto'o was so stupid, all he had to do was get in on target. If it went in, that's fine, and if it was saved, he'd have got to re-take it anyway. I was saying to my friend when we were watching it that the only way Cameroon could lose if they missed the goal altogether, which is what happened of course.
