Lennert Johannson to old for president of UEFA?

Hi pals,
I want to know what youīre thinking about Lennert Johannson. This week is the XXX. UEFA Cup Congress and Johannson didnīt say if he want to be the president after 2007. His potential follower are Franz Beckenbauer from Germany and Michel Platini from France.

Johannson is 76 years old .. Is it not to old to lead the greatest Football Asociation in europe?

He'll continue for the love of the game and until he decides to quit due to ill health or (gulp!) death.

I think he still hates Sepp Blatter for paying off voters so Sepp could keep the FIFA presidency.

Re: Lennert Johannson to old for president of UEFA?

of course he should lead UEFA it's traditional to have senile old bastards running football. How olds Blatter about 70? Good old Geoff Thompson at the English FA must be about 70 also. Nobody has had more senile old bastards at the top than the English FA, Bert Millichip was another and there is another one whose name I can't think of at the moment. They don't give a toss as long as they are raking in the cash you've only got to look at Englands sponsers McDonalds, Pepsi and Carlsberg. Fine English companies promoting healthy eating and drinking. Fucking tossers. Sorry rant over.

Re: Lennert Johannson to old for president of UEFA?

mhh... But is it right to have only old folks in the management?Of course they have much experience and a long way with this sport but I though the football will go to new ways? The german president Mayer-Vorfelder canīt travel to budapest cause he had a heard sugery and stay in reha at the moment....
Is that the right way to present a football nation? .. I donīt think so.

IMO it would better with a mix of young and old. Expierence and creativity is the best combination for any companies!

In my eyes Johannson is to old for the job. 76 years. He born in 1930, before the german bundesliga is born and ... Has he the right objectivity to decide new rules and help on the sport?

no of course it's not right German, but that's the way it works and will continue to work. It's like a private members club. Can't speak about your FA but FIFA, UEFA and the English FA are all closed shops, you scratch my back and I'll scratch yours. The CE of our FA had got the job before he had even applied because he had already been tapped up by Dodgy Davies, there were probably better qualified people that applied but they never had a chance.

yes burt, I agree with you. The closed member club. You see it with potential new presidents. either Franz Beckenbauer "the Kaiser" or the french football legend Michel Platini. And an other aspirant havenīt a chance.

But the main question, is Johannson to old for that business is YES in my opinion.

Re: Lennert Johannson to old for president of UEFA?

And what saying the other members? Is Lennert Johannson to old for the president job of UEFA?

the latest news was, that Johannson said that itīs unbelievable that Beckenbauer wasnīt in budapest to the UEFA Cup congress...

mhh?? Has he alzheimer? Beckenbauer is the boss of the german WC commitee and canīt flight to budapest to sit in this chair for 5 or 6 hours to listen what fucking speakers say. He have to be in germany to manage a lot of appointments in TV and with the world press.

But I donīt know whatīs going on at the moment with the soccer associatons in the world. FIFA and the G14 are infront of a long conflict because the national player and the injuries in national cups and international matches with the national team. The UEFA canīt kick out the old president ??

Re: Lennert Johannson to old for president of UEFA?

Don't really know Gerry.

It all depends on what kind of job he is doing. If he is fit enough and doing a good job then i don't think his age should be a factor.

I don't know enough about him to pass judgement though.

Re: Lennert Johannson to old for president of UEFA?

The vote as to who will be the UEFA president will be happening in a couple of weeks and it'll be between ol' Lennart Johansson and hip young thing Michel Platini.

Nordicbet go 1.60 Michel Platini and 2.30 Lennart Johansson.

Re: Lennert Johannson to old for president of UEFA?

Well, well, well...it was probably Sepp Blatter's backing that did it but Michel Platini's now the UEFA president.
