Graham Rix sacked

Vlad's timing is impeccable. A week before the biggest Edinburgh derby in years, he sacks the manager.

Reports on radio up here that Rix has gone, still to be confirmed by Hearts.

Re: Graham Rix sacked

well I heard the chairman was picking the team , Rix let this slip did he not?
To be honest i have no sympathy for Rix and i belive he thinks his reputation has been enhanced by his stay at Hearts.

What a sorry state of affairs this seems to be. Burley walked because of the inteference from above, then they go and get Rix as the archetypal 'YES' man and sack him for god knows what reason.

You've gotta wonder what manager in their right mind is gonna want to join Hearts now, or are they just not going to bother, Vlad naming himself as manager, Roman as assistant, Mrs Romanov as youth team coach, etc, etc...

What a joke - he seems intent on doing everything he can to ruin Heart's chances of getting into the CL this year. What a complete nob jockey.

Statement from Hearts, my bolding

Quote:
Official Statement

Heart of Midlothian Football Club (Hearts) announced that head coach Graham Rix's contract with the club has been terminated with immediate effect today, (Tuesday 22 March 2006).

Chairman Roman Romanov said: "We have been disappointed with the performance of the team. Results were not what they should have been.

"We also felt that some of the signings made in January were not appropriate for Hearts.

"In addition, the events which occurred in February when Hearts played Dundee United, including the way in which some information reached the public domain, were disappointing to us.

"I'd like to thank Graham Rix for all his hard work at Hearts. He gave 100%, but ultimately it did not work out. Vladimir Romanov and the club's management felt that something had to be done quickly. We owed it to the fans."

Valdas Ivanauskas has been appointed interim first team coach until the end of the season, and he will be assisted by John McGlynn.

Hearts brought in 11 players in January. Probably 3 tops could in anyway be classed as Rix "signings" and when you consider he is really only there as coach then even that is debatable. So Rix brought in Neil McCann on a freebie, Scottish internationalist but injury prone, he has been injured for a fair bit of the time. Lee Johnson from Yeovil got a game now and then and the boy Hackett from Oxford (Rix's old club) hasn't really figured.

However thats nowt in comparison to the 8 players brought in by Romanov, the vast majority of which had to be stuck off to "boot camp" as they were in no way fit enough to play first team football?!!

Re: Graham Rix sacked

I would like to see Romanov name himself as the manager. They sacked Burley when it came out he wasnt picking the team and now they have done the same with Rix.

As an outsider and a non hearts fan I say let the mad russian in and do the job officially, it seems pretty obvious that he is picking the team and making most if not all of the signings. Fair play to him, hes got the team up the league and almost to a cup final. Some of the signings havent been great but Skacel and Bednar are obviously classy players and great signings for hearts.

If he had been the manager since the start we would all be saying what a great manager he is rather than what an idiot of a chairman he actually is.

Get his name on the managers job and then at least if it goes tits up nobody is going to lose their job over it

can you be the chairman and the manager?

Re: Graham Rix sacked

Can you be a manager in the SPL without the coaching badges because you can't in ours? If I were the Hearts fans I think I would seriously consider boycotting all their games now and try and force this power mad Ruski out before he does more damage.
