I didn't know that Daik but I was just thinking about Hearts there.... SPL though? I'd rather be fighting for promotion to the Premiership if I was him. Oooooh, I'm a traitor.

He has been linked with Hearts if you believe the gossip. Him with Bobby Robson as Director of Football. Or Ruud Gullit. Or Nevio Scala. Or, I shat you not, Luis Figo as player manager. It is indeed the time of the year when there is not much football news going about so journalists just have to make it up.

I could see this coming , there were rumblings a couple of weeks ago.
To be honest i think he knew that last season was his big chance with Derby , they sold one of their prized assets Huddlestone to Spurs at the end of last term.A couple of their imports may be looking for transfers into the prem. Not inconceiavable that he may return to Scotland IMO

Re: Burley Resigns?

I think he believes this was his chance and only chance he had of getting Derby up. They had some really good players in Huddlestone, Raziak, Idiakez. Huddlestones gone, and the other 2 have been linked with moves and will most likely move on. These 3 were the backbone of his team and made everything tick so will be a massive loss without them.

I doubt he wouldve swapped all this for the Hearts job though, they are at the minute not a very stable club. He will have seen how they treated Robertson and i dont think he will have been impressed. I believe Hearts new chairman will turn out to be one of broken promises. A bit like when John Boyle, i think his name was, took over Motherwell - he said how he would be spending big bla de bla...And looked what happened there.

Re: Burley Resigns?

Burley did say that his position was untenable at Derby. I think the main reason was that Huddlestone was sold to Spurs against his will. It was a bizarre situation considering at that point Derby still had a good chance of going up and if they had managed to get up it wouldn't have been a good start having weakened their team rather than strengthened it.

Huddlestone? Prized asset? He's a fuckin donkey. I'll give him about four starts as a sub at Spurs before he's back on loan at Derby.

He's never premiership class.

Then again, if he plays alongside Dawson, he may well look premiership class :think

Re: Burley Resigns?

Former England manager Sir Bobby Robson has declined the opportunity to take up a position with Hearts.

The 72-year-old had been in discussions with the Tynecastle side regarding a possible move to Edinburgh.

But the ex-Newcastle boss has turned down the chance to work under the new regime at Hearts, spearheaded by majority shareholder Vladimir Romanov.

The Jambos were hoping Robson would take up the challenge in either a director of football role or as head coach following the resignation of John Robertson last month.

Robson seriously considered the offer but has rejected the move for family reasons.

Re: Burley Resigns?

Why would any respected Manager 9who will definately get offers in the English leagues) join Hearts?

Hearts won't pay much and they have no chance of winning anything other than the cup. I would be gobsmacked if he went there unless he is a Hearts supporter. Is he?

ODM - Dawson is definately Premiership class. Wait and see.
