Thought i'd put a new thread up for the remarkable job Gretna have done in reaching the Scottish Cup final when they are a 2nd division side.

Only been a professional side for 4 years too and regardless of how much money they have spent that is some achievement what they have done so far.

I think their chairman is gold too. He isn't one of these rich guys in it for the business sense, he has the club and fans at heart. I mean how many times have we read about him bankrolling so all the fans can gety to a game free of charge etc.

Shame there wasn't many more around like him.

If Hearts finish 2nd in the SPL too then Gretna will be guarenteed a Uefa Cup spot too which would be phenomenal.

Gretna will be an embarrassment in the UEFA cup. Pub team made up of fat, slow, has beens. Some nice stuff when they're in attack though. They get folk forward and some nice passing and moving. I like that. Shite team though.

Funny isn't it how Chelsea get slagged off for "buying success" and Gretna get treated like heroes, even though it's far more difficult for money to make the difference in the Premiership compared to the lower leagues

Would they be any more of an embarrasment than some of the other Scottish European performances of recent seasons i.e.

Dunfermline losing to Icelandic fishermen HF

Aberdeen getting bumped of Shelbourne

Dundee Utd chucking away 2 goal leads against MyPa with 15 mins to go

Rangers getting punted by Viktoria Zizkov

And even Celtic's humping in the CL qualifiers of Artmedia this season.

I don't think so either, Crowie. Well, maybe a wee bit. I did honestly like the way Gretna played going forward against Dundee though. Proper football I thought that was with the midfield pushing up in support and always on the move. It's what the national team never flippin' do. Bah!

I'll be there as a Carlisle/Gretna supporter. I had a great weekend just gone with Saturday at the Gretna game and Sunday at the Carlisle game. Definately going to the final aswell, seen as Mileson is paying for all the tickets
