Re: FRENCH OPEN 2007

The best solution for me is to play on short-priced favorits.
Low odds but big stake and that's it but it's raining and I'm very angry.
I was waiting to start and now it's fcuking raining

Re: FRENCH OPEN 2007

Weather looks much more promising for today (not so good for tomorrow, mind you), so hopefully a decent day's play today.

Order of play here: http://www.rolandgarros.com/fr_FR/sc...ule/index.html

Few bets for me today:

Lay Devilder v Llodra @ 1.64, liability 1pt

Even taking on board Wittmann's comments, I just cannot see Llodra as such an outsider in this one. I see it as a very close call, and on that basis, I'd much rather be laying Devilder at this kind of price than backing him.

Lay Lapentti v Peya @ 1.41, liability 1pt

As per Wittmann's comments yesterday.

Lay Gicquel v Gaudio @ 1.84, liability 2pts

Again, I can't see why Gaudio is an outsider here. Neither player in great form, both 4-6 for their last 10 matches, but comparing the players they've lost to, Gaudio has seemed unluckier in the draw - Gaudio has lost to Gasquet, Roddick, Soderling, Djokovic, Stepanek and Ferrero, Gicquel has lost to Simon, Chela, Mathieu, Garcia Lopez, Korolev and Guccione. As the 2004 Roland Garros champion, I'd give Gaudio the edge here.

Lay Soderling v Montanes @ 1.46, liability 1pt

Soderling has a terrible record here at the French Open, just 1 win in 4 years. Was unlucky last year in that he was drawn against Nadal in the first round, but the two years prior to that he was beaten by Hyung-Taik Lee Montanes having a reasonable year and I think he's got a better chance than the odds suggest.

Lay Schiavone 2-0 v Meusburger @ 2.12, liability 2pts

Schiavone not having a particularly good year so far, 7-11 overall and 2-4 on clay. Meusburger 29-9 for the year, albeit playing mainly at a lower level, but she's won a clay tournament this year at Latina, and was semi finalist in Zagreb, so I'd give her a reasonable chance of taking a set from Schiavone.

Lastly there's the two I already mentioned yesterday:

Ramirez-Hidalgo to beat Wawrinka @ 1.727 - 4pts
Bartoli to beat Rezai @ 2.1 - 2pts
Good luck all for today

Re: FRENCH OPEN 2007

looking for Cilic - Ascione
Ascione with local feelings at Garos. Cilic is a bit better but Ascione not the worst on clay. He won Rome (Clay) and came into the Quarterfinal in Rijeka (clay).
Cilic won Casablanca and Rijeka (both clay) ... [all Challengers]

mhh.. a 5 set match ??

any suggestions?

Re: FRENCH OPEN 2007

Have just taken 1.5pts on Melzer at 1000 on the outright, with a view to laying later. He's currently a set and a break up on Acasuso, which I'd thought looked potentially quite a tough match for him (and obviously there's still a long way to go yet, things may yet get complicated). If he got through to the 2nd round, he'd be due to play either Monaco or Fognini. I expected Monaco to win that one comfortably, but he's currently a set down, and a break down in the 2nd set. The way those two matches are shaping up, I'm happy to take a chance on Melzer at 1000, if he can get through to the 3rd round (where he'd be due to meet Gonzalez), I'd expect that price to drop a fair bit.

But the Gaucho is back 0-2

First winner over 10/1 of the year for me. Shame about the low stakes

Very possibly, Rene, but at around 1.85, there's no way I'd even consider backing him this early in the tournament.

Great stuff with Peschke, Wittmann

Getting nervous here about Ramirez Hidalgo. Walked the first set 6-0, took the second, but lost the 3rd 6-2 and I'm starting to get paranoid now that he's going to blow this

Re: FRENCH OPEN 2007

Think Wawrinka will fade Rc . He must be veryyy rusty.

Nice spot with Melzer. Unfortunately Monaco has made the mother of all comebacks but he will be definitely knackered after this and a final run in Austria last week.

Re: FRENCH OPEN 2007

Few more for today

Rochus-Monfils

Monfils was good to me last week but not so good as to warrant him a 2/1 on favourite against Ollie Rochus.

1 Unit Rochus @ 3.05

Re: FRENCH OPEN 2007

Hope you're right on Wawrinka.

Melzer still available at 1000 for anyone interested in that. Mind you, now that Monaco has made the comeback, the 3-0 H2H in Monaco's favour against Melzer doesn't look too promising
