Re: FRENCH OPEN 2007
Great stuff so far lads, great picks.
rcgills-Tempted to take the 1000 on Melzer aswell as I think he will get to the 4th and has a chance to get to the quarter final and it wouldnt be an impossible quarter, but all depends on the Monaco game i feel.
Fancy Pin today at home to beat Dushevina and record her first ever Roland Garros win. Shes been pretty good on clay this year and has improved alot from last year in her performances(some may remember her for fighting back to Sharapova in Australia from 5-0 in the final set, only to lose 9-7). I think the crowd will give her that little bit extra against Dushevina who can play herself but I couldnt resist the nise odds on Pin.
Pin to beat Dushevina @ 3

Re: FRENCH OPEN 2007
GL with Pin Forzalazio. I thought about backing her but I don’t think clay is her best surface and it probably is Dushevina’s.
Not much appeals in the men’s games today. There are lots of short priced favorites that I hate backing and some real mismatches as is common at the early rounds.
Lapentti-Gasquet
Of the short priced favourite Gasquet might be slightly vulnerable to Lapentti as he was suffering from bad blistering early in the week but Lapennti’s fitness is an issue and given Lapennti was playing a player with severe cramps in Peya its hard to read too much into that win. Laying Gasquet costs little as an i/r play if Lapennti can manage to make a positive early start.
Risk 0.25 Units Lay Gasquet @ 1.13 (i/r)
Melzer-Monaco
Monaco does lead the H to H 3-0 but he struggled in a long 5 setter yesterday and with a new coach in tow Melzer played very well when beating the hotly tipped Acasuso yesterday. Monaco has a lot of tennis under his belt recently and I have a feeling that the fresher Melzer might spring a surprise today.
1.25 Units Melzer @ 2.92
Ljubcic-Wawrinka
Agree 100% with RCGills here. Cannot see Wawrinka having the physical stamina to beat Lube who has easily beaten him twice before and who never looked flustered against Clement yesterday.
2.5 Units Ljubcic @ 1.33

Re: FRENCH OPEN 2007
had also a look on Myskina but I saw an Interview with her today on eurosport and she said that she´s not as fit like before her injury. Some more weight ... and she try to win some matches but don´t believe in a win here ...
no bet for me. Wanna see her play at first :wasntme

Re: FRENCH OPEN 2007
Nice picture, Beanie and here are some players that have to be backed:
left - right
Poutchkova, that have to win today against Danilidou, Severine Bremond, Vera Dushevina, Hantuhova, Elena Dementieva (my favourite), oops Williams - sorry for that, Sharapova (short-odds-out-of-form, not worth to be backed), Kirilenko and Hantuhova again (my 2nd fav)
P.S. I hope that Moderators aren't angry with me for spamming the thread...
By the way, RC and Wittmann, wouldn't you consider separating the thread somehow, as it would become 30-40 pages till the end of the competition.

Re: FRENCH OPEN 2007
when i said surprises i was not meaning a huge favorite of 1.05 price to be defeated!
no way, i say that i have the feeling that we will NOT see a final between nadal federer, one of the two will be out, thats my idea, also somes games giving 1.50-1.60 odds are very tricky, there you should look for upsets, i dont, i just wait to see the players how they are behaving
today nalbandian might be suffered an upset, chela also, and even ljubicic, but i dont place money of course, i prefer the guarantee Davydenko, robredo, and Federer to do the job for me, i dont look at odds, i want to be paid

Good call 6-1,6-0. What a stupid bet on my part
Not going well today at all. Hate it when your banker goes down and backing Myskina must have been my stupidest bet in a long long while.
Olaru-Vakulenko
Vakulenko has retired with writs injuries in her last two events. She’s definitely the better player at the moment but Olaru has some decent clay form of her own albeit at a lower level. If the occasion is not too much she could have a good effort here.
0.75 Units Olaru @ 3.0
0.50 Units Vakulenko 2-1 @4.5
Muller-Del Rios
31 year old Paraguyan Del Rios has come through qualifying here. She’s played a lot on clay but at a lower level than Muller. She hasn’t played anyone in the top 100 this year and only two players in the top 100 last year. Muller’s form has not been the best but she has been mixing it with the top players and being competitive. She has nearly 10 clay titles (mainly ITF) to her name and I think she’s a very big price here.
2.5 Units Muller @ 1.7
Tu-Oprandri
Oprandi has been in a mini slump of late. An injury sustained in Budapest has meant she has lost 4 of the last 5 and even prior to that her form was bad. Tu has beaten her easily twice in the last year (Hardcourt) and while the Yank is no clay courter she has beaten Pennetta (twice), Vinci and Srebotnik recently.
2 Units Tu @ 1.7

Re: FRENCH OPEN 2007
No problem with the pictures.
Kirilenko is a honey. Her website lists her favourite hobby bizarrely as fishing which is great as we’ll have something to talk about when we get together.

Gasquet is playing Vliegen, not Lapentti, Wittmann
Engineer, you could be right, might be worth considering breaking the thread down. Maybe start a new thread for round 3 onwards, or for the second week. I'll leave the decision up to Wittmann though, as he's the main mod in here
Martens, I assume you place your bets with a bookie that voids bets if a player retires injured? Huge risk otherwise. Not for me, that kind of betting, but each to their own, and if it makes you money then good luck to you.
Very dodgy start for me so far today, with Dominguez Lino losing, and Hartfield going 2-1 down to Ginepri.

Re: FRENCH OPEN 2007
Oops did mean Vliegen. Vliegen's beaten him twice before and Gasquet has blisters which might play up.
Good idea re splitting the thread. Round 3 sounds Good to me as well.
GL with Hartfield Rene. 9.25 to 1 will put a smile on anyones face
