Re: 17th - 24th June - Ordina Open (ATP / WTA) & Nottingham (ATP)

Modest presence at this thread today

Really, awful loser yesterday, I blame the rain for it. Unfortunately only my account at Sportingodds was healthy enough and their line was higher

I hate rain... today it's gonna be rainy everywhere, where tennis has to be played. And it's 40 degrees and burning sun in Bulgaria.

Anyway, if some games are to be played today the best value I see in Anna Cakvetadze to beat Hantuhova - ~2.35 at Betfair. Two opponents of equal ability, but I can see the young Russian prevailing at the end.

Well, Marion Bartoli is in great form and is priced 16.67 vs Henin. Laying 2:0 (1.22) win of Henin seems obligatory to me.

Safina worths a small punt, too. I expect Jancovic not to give 100% some days before Wimbledon and ~8.00 is too big.

Nah, I haven't seen your post, RC.

Yesterday I said to me never to play at the under/over tennis market again, but I'll try over 17.5 games at Henin - Bartoli. 1.833 at Sportingodds. Damn it, Bartoli should keep it close!

Good luck Engineer

Just seen the odds on Jankovic have dropped even further, it's a silly price now in my opinion, and have topped up a little more. Also got matched on the lay of 2-0 Jankovic

Lay Jankovic v Safina @ 1.15, liability 0.5pts
Lay Jankovic 2-0 @ 1.54, liability 2pts

Rain -rain go away and dont come again while there is wonderful tennis on the cards!
For me today it has to be JUSTINE ( theE is just for you RC) to do what the little honey does best in 2 straight. It is live on bbc and I have rearranged my day/weekend so that I can see the little wizard take care of business.
I shall now do a SUN DANCE ---Im not that far from Eastbourne and the big man up there is crying!! Also fancy Mauresmo to do it in 2 - watched her yesterday in a rather strange match against Peer. Good mixture of brilliance and barely competant amateur, but I always had the feeling she was ultimately in control. Good luck all

Seems that Nottingham is actually being played indoors at the moment, as Betfair have suspended all bets. No idea what's going to happen there, whether bets already made will stand

Bartoli appears to be capitulating against Henin, lost the first set 6-1.

Re: 17th - 24th June - Ordina Open (ATP / WTA) & Nottingham (ATP)

Fantastic match there between Jankovic and Safina, finishes with Jankovic winning it on a tie-break in the deciding set. Safina broke Jankovic when she was serving for the match, and saved 5 break points in total (including coming from 6-2 down in the tie break to get back to 6-6). Jankovic had a couple of injury timeouts, but didn't seem to affect her movement much. That, of course, is absolutely no consolation to me having laid Jankovic Still, the lay of the 2-0 came in, but Bartoli got soundly beaten by Henin (I'm getting the distinct impression Bartoli can't be trusted for the big occasions), so end up slightly down on the day.

Oh, and the Garcia Lopez bet was voided, as I believe they ended up playing on an indoor court.

Womens:
Staked 19pts
Returned 19.05pts

Mens:
Staked 9pts
Returned 6.29pts

P/L: -2.66pts

Re: 17th - 24th June - Ordina Open (ATP / WTA) & Nottingham (ATP)

Two bets for me today, both in the women's final at Eastbourne.

Lay Henin 2-0 v Mauresmo @ 1.72, liability 2pts

These two have met 13 times, and the H2H is 7-6 to Henin, so they're pretty evenly matched. They've only met once on grass, in last year's Wimbledon final, and Mauresmo won that one. Grass is probably Henin's weakest surface (that's not to say she can't play on it, but Wimbledon is the one Grand Slam she's yet to win). For Mauresmo, grass is arguably her strongest surface. Can't see why 2-0 Henin should be odds on.

No tiebreak in the match @ 1.72 (Bet365) 2pts

In their 13 meetings, they've completed 30 sets, and just 4 of them have gone to tiebreaks (none in their only meeting on grass). Purely based on those stats, this price looks decent value.

Re: 17th - 24th June - Ordina Open (ATP / WTA) & Nottingham (ATP)

Ok, final @ Nottingham today, and the big question is whether the match will be played outside on grass as scheduled, or indoors.

Ivo Karlovic 5/6
Arnaud Clement 11/10

Clement leads 2-0 H2H on grass, including a win @ Queens last week. Karlovic is 1-0 on Hard.

I'm going to be taking the ridiculous 11/10 on Clement @ Stan James, whose rules state

"If there is a change of playing surface from the one that was relevant at the time the bet was placed, then bets will be made void. "

Even better on betfair, where 2.20 is offered, who also go with:

"PLEASE NOTE THIS MARKET IS OFFERED AS A GRASS COURT MATCH AND WILL BE VOID IF THERE IS ANY CHANGE IN SURFACE "

I took the very generous 8/11 for Henin to do it in 2 straight.
I try to include her in my dreams -but that is not just Tennis!
Hope the weather stays fine. G L all.

Re: 17th - 24th June - Ordina Open (ATP / WTA) & Nottingham (ATP)

Well, if there had to be a tiebreak in that match, at least Mauresmo won it to bring in my bigger priced bet. Clement now out to 2.32 at Betfair, and that's enough to tempt me onto him as well I reckon, so I'll join Dave and Beanie there. 2pts on Clement.

Glad for your profit there RC---to the loss of mine ,however
Amelie traded punch for punch with the little maestro and I am pleased to say its unfortunate that there had to be a loser.
I feel reassured that both of these will run rings around that poser Serena( who I hope swallows a big earing which should not even be allowed on court!)

Re: 17th - 24th June - Ordina Open (ATP / WTA) & Nottingham (ATP)

10pts Wessels to beat Ljubicic (4.33 @ Ladbrokes)

Not much time to talk about this with the off just a minute away.

Ljubicic has looked anything but impressive having dropped a set in virtually every round en route to the final. I can see Wessels, a fellow big server, taking Ljubicic the distance in this one - Ljubicic's pedigree on grass is questionable and 1.20 for the Croat is simply ludicrous.

Re: 17th - 24th June - Ordina Open (ATP / WTA) & Nottingham (ATP)

It's a shame Wessels' nerves let him down in the end after pushing Ljubicic so close. Nevertheless, this tourny should set some players nicely up for Wimbledon...
