Re: Wimbledon women's event 25 June - 8 July
Cheers Not looking bad for Bartoli, and now a QF meeting with Krajicek is certainly winnable. Actually lost my nerve a little bit yesterday, didn't think she'd beat Jankovic, and laid some of the bet off, but still in a very nice position regardless.

Re: Wimbledon women's event 25 June - 8 July
This year´s Wimbledon I follow through the highlights. Today I came home, want to watch Jankovic - Bartoli match. It was raining, ok => highlights. Later on I came back and I realized that the rain is nowhere, match is over => highlights . This happens every day, I think I will stay at home all day long and there will be no problem to watch Wimbledon live

Re: Wimbledon women's event 25 June - 8 July
How serious do people think Serena William’s injuries are. Rumours coming out now are that it is a muscle tear rather than cramp but she seemed to me to be moving fairly well in the 3rd set against Hantchova from the highlights I saw so does she represent some value against Henin at over 4s? Williams has won all 5 meetings on faster surfaces and is a better grass courter than Henin.
I’m going to take a chance on the mouthy Yank. Small stakes.
0.5 Units Williams @ 4.1
This incidentally is a match up between IMO two of the least likable characters on the women’s tour. Williams carry on in the last round was a disgrace but in terms of unpleasant gamesmanship the Belgian gnome runs her close.
Bartoli-Kraijeck looks very tough to call. Both players first time Slam QF apperances and both with a tendency to self destruct. Bartoli definitely in better form but the victory over Jankovic might be overstated a bit as I had heard Jankovic was carrying a back injury (too disorganised to get on Bartoli). Grass suits Kraijeck but her games has been a mess in 2007 and dropping sets to the likes of Oblizer here and a loss to Fedak on grass looks poor. Gun to head I’d say Kraijeck represents marginally better value but I won’t be getting involved. I think this will be a great game for tradeing as if any player gets ahead you can think it likely she will lose the break fairly quickly given both players tendencies and the nature of womens tennis generally.

Re: Wimbledon women's event 25 June - 8 July
emmmm i think i will saty out...last time i watched serena was in roland garros, and he was looking in poor fitness, many kg added, and nothing was reminding me the tank of australia open.....
as for bartoli, i watched her against jankovic, to be honest was a typical women tennis, where luck decides for the result, could go both ways, i am not massive impressed of what she showed, she is powerfull ok, but since i have no personal idea about how and who the opponent is....
stay out is my choice, besides i have a pending bet on tsonga, people say now that gasquet is gonna win,i dont care, just wait and see
thnx, and have a nice day

Re: Wimbledon women's event 25 June - 8 July
In fact i would take Bartoli, too, but she looked totally exhausted in the end of yesterday's match and I'm not sure whether she could be 100% ready against Krajicek. The dutch should be much more prepared for that game, so I rate the chances about 50:50. In that case I wouldn't put a single euro on her.
Serena Wiliams, don't know, 1.35 for Henin looks fair to me and I'll take it in a later acca...

Yes I'd like none of the both players to progress after this round, maybe the rain will take their match in 10 days and they'll be disqualified.
But I'm takind Henin to win and Henin to win 2:0 at 1.85, Betfair.
And, definitely I'll make an in-play bet for the one that loses the first set in Bartoli - Krajicek.

Re: Wimbledon women's event 25 June - 8 July
Something I don't understand with regard to the Bartoli v Krajicek game - Bartoli is favourite on Betfair (currently 1.68, with Krajicek 2.42), yet on the outright betting for the tournament, Krajicek is a shorter price than Bartoli (Krajicek 85, Bartoli 110)
I'd agree with Wittmann that the slight value is with Krajicek. Bartoli in the weeks leading up to Wimbledon struck me as an above average player who falls apart once she comes up against the top players (made the semis in Birmingham and Eastbourne, before losing 7-5 6-0 to Sharapova and 6-1 6-3 to Henin). She's proven she is capable of beating the top players though by beating Jankovic yesterday, although her serve didn't look very impressive and she was lucky in that Jankovic's serve was also pretty poor (there were 17 breaks in 30 games).
Krajicek has only been broken 3 times in 4 matches so far. Plenty of break points saved (25), but only actually had her serve broken 3 times (once each by Obziler, Chakvetadze and Granville). Bartoli has been broken 11 times in all (8 v Jankovic), and has saved a further 21 break points. If they continue with those stats, then I'd personally give Krajicek the edge. I've had a little bit on Krajicek here, but that's as much to cover my outright bet on Bartoli as anything else.
Didn't see any of the Serena v Hantuchova game, so can't comment on her "injury", but it wouldn't be particularly surprising if it turned out there's nothing wrong with her, I suppose.
What's the "unpleasant gamesmanship" from Henin though, Wittmann? Can't say I've ever really noticed much of that from her.

Interesting point there. Why the hell is she being made to play again in a QF match when you've got 2 men's 4th round matches (Bjorkman v Berdych and Baghdatis v Davydenko) being put off until tomorrow? Of those 4 players, only Davydenko played yesterday, and that was only a few games to finish off the 3rd set. Why not put them on today and leave the women's QFs until tomorrow?
Obviously the organisers can't do anything about the rain, but there have been some very strange decisions made in the scheduling for this tournament.

Re: Wimbledon men's event 25 June - 8 July
On a seperate note, Serena Williams does look pretty big to beat Henin - if all she has is a cramp, 3.50 has got to be a hell of a bet and something worth risking...

Re: Wimbledon women's event 25 June - 8 July
Big market moves on Bartoli there RC Gills. She was 1.85 earlier on and has been dropping all morning although rallying again. Had a nibble on Kraijeck as well @ 2.40 (1 Unit)
Re Henin I’m thinking most notably of whipping the crowd up against Serena Williams at Roland Garros. She had a number of run ins with Clisters most notably in San Diego (maybe Toronto) a few years ago. I’ve seen her call more than a few dodgy medical time outs as well. Shes not as bad as Williams and at least she doesn't blame her defeats as much as Williams does on herself playing badly rather than her opponent playing well. I dislike both of them a lot to be honest.

I don't recall that specific incident, so can't comment on that specifically, but in general I don't see any problem with whipping the crowd up if they're behind you. Depends how far you go with it, I guess, but Henman is always playing to the crowd at Wimbledon, for example.

Re: Wimbledon women's event 25 June - 8 July
Gonna try Sharapove to bt Williams 2-0 today @5/6. Williams isn't half the player she was a few years back and her seeding of 23 tells its own story. She struggled against Morigami on Monday and just about got through in the end. Sharapova is in great form and I reckon she can win this with relative ease.
Verdict: Sharapova to bt Williams 2-0 @5/6

Venus has just blown this bet to pieces by destroying Sharapova 6-1 in the first set.
Sharapova available at 2/1 now. I shouldn't but I know I will.....
