Wimbledon women's event 25 June - 8 July

Given the popularity of the French Open thread, and the way we ended up dividing it into week 1 and week 2, may be easier this time to instead divide it from the start, and have a thread for the men's and a thread for the women's.

Anyway, seedings are out.

Quote:
In the women's draw, French Open champion Justine Henin heads the seedings with defending women's champion Amélie Mauresmo seeded fourth. The seeds in the women's singles are almost identical to the world rankings, but former champion Venus Williams moves up from 31st in the world to No24 seed, while Vera Zvonareva has been ruled out with a wrist injury.

Women's seedings 1 Justine Henin (Belgium), 2 Maria Sharapova (Russia), 3 Jelena Jankovic (Serbia), 4 Amélie Mauresmo (France), 5 Svetlana Kuznetsova (Russia), 6 Ana Ivanovic (Serbia), 7 Serena Williams (United States), 8 Anna Chakvetadze (Russia), 9 Martina Hingis (Switzerland), 10 Daniela Hantuchova (Slovakia), 11 Nadia Petrova (Russia), 12 Elena Dementieva (Russia), 13 Dinara Safina (Russia), 14 Nicole Vaidisova (Czech Republic), 15 Patty Schnyder (Switzerland), 16 Shahar Peer (Israel), 17 Tatiana Golovin (France), 18 Li Na (China), 19 Marion Bartoli (France), 20 Katarina Srebotnik (Slovenia), 21 Sybille Bammer (Austria), 22 Tathiana Garbin (Italy), 23 Anabel Medina Garrigues (Spain), 24 Venus Williams (United States), 25 Alona Bondarneko (Ukraine), 26 Lucie Safrova (Czech Republic), 27 Ai Sugiyama (Japan), 28 Samantha Stosur (Australia), 29 Mara Santangelo (Italy), 30 Francesca Schiavone (Italy), 31 Olga Poutchkova (Russia), 32 Michaella Krajicek (Netherlands).

Re: Wimbledon women's event 25 June - 8 July

I'm still waiting Friday to see who will play but on first look I beleive in Henin, Jankovic, Chakvetadze, Vaidisova and Schnyder. All are great servers and also in great forms. Odds will be low in first 2-3 rounds so I'll also try with Bammer,Bartoli and Santangelo. But we will see everything when we see draws in friday.
GL next two weeks everybody

Wimbledon Wild Cards:

Ladies’ Singles
Elena BALTACHA (GBR)
Naomi CAVADAY (GBR)
Anne KEOTHAVONG (GBR)
Viktoriya KUTUZOVA (UKR)
Katie O'BRIEN (GBR)
Anastasia PAVLYUCHENKOVA (RUS)
Melanie SOUTH (GBR)
Caroline WOZNIACKI (DEN)

I watched Baltacha two times this week and she don't have nothing special . She is strong but unexperince player so IMO she will probably lose in first match

Re: Wimbledon women's event 25 June - 8 July

Couple of outright bets to start with at price which look too big to me. Both of these are average odds, as I've had more than one bet on each of them.

Safina @ 325 3pts
Bartoli @ 894 2pts

Safina seems pretty comfortable on grass, and ran Jankovic extremely close at the Ordina open last week. Potential dark horse for this tournament IMO.

Bartoli is off the back of 2 consecutive grass event semi finals. She looks well and truly out of her depth once she gets there, but she should be capable of making at least the 4th round, and by that stage there should be no way she'll still be at her current price of 1000, so will be looking to lay this one off later.

Re: Wimbledon women's event 25 June - 8 July

Too late for details, here are my bets for the WTA
Pin is too highly priced against Schnyder and I couldn't thus resist laying my hands off her. She is definitely playing better from previous seasons and making Safina working into 3 sets sure warrants respect.
Bartoli should make it in straight sets therefore would go with under 20.5. BOL

This may not be such a viable option as there's every chance accas might be stacked up involving matches from both men's and women's tournies.

Actually, I'm not for splitting threads at all - that said, if splitting were necessary, it'd be better off having them divided by weeks.

Possibly, but then with the weather, there's a high chance week 1 will run over into week 2 anyway creating a different confusion. If you've got mixed accas, post them wherever you like, it's only a choice of 2 threads, people will still find it I'm sure.

It would actually be better if everything were condensed in 1 thread instead of having them separated.

We did that before. People then complained the single thread had too many posts. You can't win sometimes.

Is somebody watch Schnyder?
What was wrong with her. 0-5 in third set and I was mad but finally she won.
Does she have some problems with injure or what?

Was having a good look through the matches for a bet there, first I liked A-L Groenefeld, then I didn't, then I thought why bother when I can just be content with sticking Maria Kirlienko piccies up instead?

Re: Wimbledon women's event 25 June - 8 July

Well, is there any change with the attachment method, as I can't attach a picture from my computer?

I was trying to put some more pictures of Kirilenko.
Doesn't matter, Beanie's are nice enough.

I won't make a single bet for Groenefeld till she lose some weight (20 kilos at least ) I'll even go for her opponent, as 1.93 is available for Ozegovic at Betfair at the moment. Groenefeld's last performance on grass wasn't that bad, but I can't see her outplaying or outrunning the young Croatian.

After being unlucky with Cavaday yesterday, today I'll try Poutchkova and Gaidosova at prices over 2/1 against Vesnina and Shaughnessy respectively.

And an accum including Safin, Gasquet, Qureshi, Ljubicic and Blake.
