Re: Aussie open 2008
sorry i never comment on wta tour, because i stopped watching women tennis, for me is kinda boring and useless,
lets go to fresh
Blake? hehehe, what do you expect from somebody starts the game with two double faults in a row? that he is hopeless and homeless and everything? correct, the 7-0 hth very easily 8-0
walk around the park for federer
Nadal v Tsonga
guys dont underestimate tsonga please, you see, i change mind every day and every moment, to exchange ideas is one thing, to place money on future events its another, totally different story.
Tsonga is the only pleasant surprise here, in a generall low quality grand slam, in my eyes, is the worse in recent history,
nadal reached semis, without facing any serious opponent.thats happening nearly all time, same for federer,is the draw system, always scandal favour number one and two of the world respectively
Tsonga is the only player here, introdused something new for the sport : playing excellent baseline, service and volley, astonishing forehand, more than efficient backhand and slice,
for me Tsonga ( hope to win) , nadal very well understood favourite
federer v Djokovic
the black widow-federer- will face problems against djoko, as wittman explains in his top level analysis, which i always like to read
i think djoko will fight hard ( btw another player in semis without meeting any serious opponent, ferrer was pure crappy)
but but, federer will win at the end 3-1
take care boys, and see you

Re: Aussie open 2008
Ivanovic - Hantuchova , over 21,5, @1,99, Pinnacle, 4/10
I'll try this small bet. Now it seems and everebody talks about it, that Ivanovic is already in the final. But not against Williams where she was underdog, but today is under huge pressure. It's even worse because Hantuchova is playing still better here. And another bet friendly fact. H2H is 2-1 for Ivanovic, but neither win was easy for Ivanovic(once tb, once 3-setter). I can imagine surprisingly close match or at least one close set and in such a case this bet will be close to correct. I believe in Ivanovic win in the end but Hantuchova will take one set IMO. Good luck

Re: Aussie open 2008
Bit of a battle of the fitties here this Ivanovic v Hantuchova innit. Although both pics flatter them both a little bit to be fair, especially Hantuchova. Certainly fcuking beats the usual Venus v Mauresmo type shit though

Definitely! In that aspect I'm really glad that Ivanovic and Sharapova made the final (altough it could have been better ). It's hard for me to watch a WTA match on TV if some of the Williams sisters or Kuznetsova for example is involved.
Great shot with the overs, Victor .GIF) (but what a start it was)
In the last match today I'll wait for the in-running offers, but I'll go for Tsonga to hold his service games. For me his serve was his main weapon against Youzhny and hopefully it won't let him down today.

Re: Aussie open 2008
I've gone with under 38 games for Nadal v Tsonga today. Not taking anything away from Tsonga, I think he's done brilliantly so far, but I think nerves may get to him at this stage. In the last set of his match against Youzhny in the QF, he seemed to stop going for his shots, settling for simply keeping the ball in play, keeping the rallies going and waiting for Youzhny to make mistakes. If he plays like that against Nadal, I think he's going to get punished, and I've got a feeling Nadal is going to pull through this one in straight sets.

Re: Aussie open 2008
Well, I think it's fairly safe to say I couldn't have been much more wrong in the thinking behind that bet Impressive first set there from Tsonga.
On the plus side, my bet can still definitely come in - if Tsonga were to win in straight sets, it's guaranteed to come in, and even if the game goes to 4 sets it still stands a decent chance

Re: Aussie open 2008
6-2 6-3 6-2. Certainly wasn't the way I was expecting to win that under 38 games bet, but I'll take it. Fantastic stuff from Tsonga, was particularly impressed with the way he saved the break point after arguing with the umpire. Could've let the argument get to him and lose concentration, but he hits 2 aces in a row, wins the game, and then breaks Nadal in the next game.
Surely he can't win the whole tournament, can he? Martens will be hoping not

Re: Aussie open 2008
It's always nice to have such a winner although things go exactly the opposite way to the expectations. That's the only advantage of the over/under market in any kind of sport I reckon.
Tsonga is impressive, really. Very strong guy with a sturdy mentality obviously. I remember him doing well on the grass last summer, now he does well on hard...
Curious what will he look like on the clay
Too early to speak about the final maybe.
And about Martens: if Fed beat Djoko and reach the final he'll face a great dilemma - hateful Federer or counted for dead Tsonga
I can imagine his next post:
If Federer advances:
"Aussie open final? hehehe I'm such an experienced bettor to watch these mugs, but it's time for my maximum stakes bet - lay both of these, Roger man and Tsonga man. Also lay Federer's missus as she looks like miss Piggy
c u boys and take care"
If Djokovic makes the final:
"Tsonga? hehehe Djokovic plays great tennis, out of this planet, no chance for Tsonga, you see how Novak beat the black widow Federer, I told u so many times. tsonga and his post modern tennis gave something new to that low-quality
Grand Slam.
Djokovic to win, c you and take care when you pass by the Eiffel tower"

Re: Aussie open 2008
what is it engeneer?
do you have something against me mate?
here we just exchange our ideas, if you dont like my writting style, please ignore my posts, thats simple thats all
Tsonga was truly impressive, and what i say is :
Nadal go to hell, referee go to hell too.
the mafia referee tried to save nadal from his farts, because everybody were thinking a final between fed nadal, much more income for the organisers....just go to hell, tsonga was ready to attack him, and throw the mug referee out of the lod laver arena
in addition, all those mugs, never punish nadal's provoking behaviour, when in purpose delays at serve, when he has last remaining weapon, to do nothing but trying to slow down the opponents game delaying on serve
tsonga is new idol in tennis world for sure, and yes mister engenner, he plays post modern tennis, either you like it or not.
As for poor Nadal, he will remain in history, as the only man on earth he farted in front of whole planet
i guess you are too young, not to understand that in a coin, there always two views, and never one
anyway i wish you a nice day,and good luck to your bets

Re: Aussie open 2008
No offense, Martens, I really enjoy your posts. Of course there are always two views and even more, but yours is too extreme in most of the cases, indeed.
Doesn't matter, no need for more argues.
I won't get involved in Federer - Djoko game, but the Serbian can have some advice from Tipsarevic on how to push Federer to the limit (in fact he's done it before).
I'll focus on women doubles final, a surprising one, really:
Bondarenko sisters vs Azarenka/Peer (Wittmann knows best where Azarenka from )
Can't understand why the Ukranians are the dogs here and I'm on @2.24, Betfair. Azarenka/Peer had a tough 1/2 final against our favourite Chinese and the Bondarenkos just walked over their opponent that night. Looking like a great team, so I'll stake 2.5 pts for Alona and Katerina in the early morning.

ok, i give you a wta tour tip : this is my present to you
Sharapova to win the final. Why? is just an instict,based on last year's performance of ivanova in french open final;
i will place some money on this event, the russian looks impressive and powerfull-in photos- i didnt watch her playing for at least a year, but i trust my instict
cheers

Re: Aussie open 2008
Bonfarenko sisters did well that night, came from behind to win their first WTA doubles title Will they become a team like the Bryans?
In the men's semi I'll go for under 39.5 games @2.36, betfair.
I expect the same story as the US open final - close first set with Fed prevailing and then two easier sets for him. Let's see.

Yes, I see it similar to that, Engineer, although I've gone for Federer -4.5 games. Djokovic managed to win a set 6-2 against Federer on clay in their first meeting, but since then, the only sets he's managed to win against Federer (including his victory in the Toronto Masters) have been on tie-breaks. Even if he takes a set on a tie-break, I'm confident Federer has the ability to get a few breaks in the remaining sets to clear the handicap.
And nice call on the Bondarenkos .GIF)
