After yesterday's results, it looks like it's Traeth's competition - Lopez, Safin, Murray and Nadal all won, meaning he's now guaranteed 2 semi finalists and 2 quarter finalists. Only therefore needs one of the two semi-finalists to make the final in order to overtake me, and I think I'd need a minor miracle for the winner of Nadal v Murray not to beat Clement or Schuettler in the semis

rc is correct , i'm from Wales , Porthmadog , which the few that follow my posts in the Welsh Premier League should know , my name on here is the name of Porthmadog football ,rugby and hockey ground , i now realise that english speakers find it a bit difficult.

Wish you best of luck though as it will be too bizzare if that competition is won by somebody who barely posts in the tennis forum ( with all my respect to Traeth and Kegman of course ).

i totally agree with your comments here engineer , my knowledge of tennis is limited to my reading here and occasional viewing on eurosport, my selection "proceedure" was based on :
i)choose 1 good player ...Nadal
ii) choose Murray as he should perform at Wimbledon
iii)choose any other that i've heard of ...Lopez ansd Safin
iv) choose a great sounding name ...Mardy Fish and Stefan Koubek

My large bets would be on rugby and W.P.L. football so I feel a bit of a fraud doing so well in this comp .

I would be rather annoyed if I entered a rugby union comp and ended up being beaten at the final hurdle by a total rugby idiot.

I admit that i'm a total tennis idiot and am surprised by my performance.
The only saving grace is that i'm a "lurker" on the tennis thread here so the posters must be good.

I must thank Wittman for organising such a great comp and keeping us updated at such a busy time in his life

You do know that picking a player based on his name is the tennis equivalent of "housewives choice" in The Grand National.

Winning (which I think is a given now) is particularly impressive give (1)RC managed his team actively transfer wise and (2) how you played with a team of 5 given that Koubek is effectively retired from the main tour these days

I'm actually amazed at the turnaround - for Djokovic and Bandy to be gone by the third day is simply amazing. Commiserations to RC

I've not given up yet. Bit of rain for the rest of the week, Nadal slips on court, injures himself and can't play against Schuettler/Clement and has to withdraw. Well, stranger things have happened.

Alternatively I may be better off just hoping that Ancic gets knocked out today, at least ensuring I finish 2nd above Kegman

It looks like that injury to Tsonga has cost me - transferred him into my team in May in preparation for the grass court season, leaving me one more transfer in June to bring in another decent grass-courter. Then Tsonga gets injured, and I have to waste my final transfer in replacing him, leaving me stuck with Monaco instead . Still, that's the way these things go, I guess

Well, with Nadal's win yesterday it seems Traeth will have overtaken me (unless those "small errors" Wittmann mentioned last week were bigger than expected and majorly in my favour ).

Yeah, i can only apoligise for my lack of transfers etc but i dont really follow tennis but the competition looked good so i entered.

Well done to Traeth and a huge thank you to Wittman for taken the time to run this competition. One of the better ones we have had here.

And there we have it - made a few minor adjustments for incorrect scores (i'd undescored Karlovic and a few others and overscored Davydenko) due to spreadsheet errors. Bought Beanie slightly closer to Kegman but thats it.

Thanks for the entries - small but quality field - might do again next year for the entire year but would want more entries and would have a minimum number of transfers needed to be made during the year by every player to make things more interesting. Went down to the last week though so all in all pretty good.
