Tennis week 14-20 July 2008
Only one bet for me today, from Umag in Croatia, Veic to beat Montcourt. These two are both in pretty decent form, Montcourt winning a challenger last month and Veic reaching a challenger SF. They've met twice in the past few months, with 1 win apiece, Montcourt winning in the final of an Italian futures event, Veic getting revenge in his run to the semis of the Bytom challenger last month.
Looks a pretty close call between the two of them, but with Veic having "home" advantage here playing in Croatia, that may just tip things in his favour.
Veic @ 2.59 2pts
Edit - Actually, just seen Sporting Odds have a better price than Betfair, make that 2.625.

One outright bet too, 1.25pts on Troicki @ 23 in Umag. Reached the semi-finals here last year, knocking out Djokovic along the way. Looks to be in the easier half of the draw, avoiding Ljubicic, Andreev and Canas. Scheduled to meet Moya 2nd round, but with Moya out of sorts, that looks winnable. Verdasco in his half of the draw too, but if Troicki gets that far I'll look into the possibility of laying it off.
Troicki @ 23 - 1.25pts

Thanks for opening the thread, RC and good luck with these.
Both look reasonable bets.
I won't be betting today, maybe tomorrow

a nice value bet I managed to get Jesse Huta Galung at 2.5, the young dutchman won the dutch challenger title last week and will be up for this at home. If he starts well he will be in with a good shout to win it- this boys is a good'n one to watch.

For me it's:
Minar over Rochus @2.2 - 4 pts
Both in poor form, but Minar's effort against Canas previous week wasn't that bad and I reckon he should be back on track rather sooner than later. Rochus I always like to oppose, especially at odds-on so, taking in mind the thumping victory of Minar in Miami during the spring this could go his way.

Re: Tennis week 14-20 July 2008
Main bet for me today is Dancevic to beat Reynolds @ 2.06. Dancevic is in good form of late, albeit on grass, winning the Surbiton event and making the semis at Newport last week. Onto hard courts now, but he was runner up in this event last year, beating Roddick in the semis before falling to Tursunov in the final. These 2 have met 5 times before, H2H is 3-2 to Dancevic, but more importantly, all 3 of Dancevic's wins came on hard courts, Reynolds' wins were on clay, and then on grass at this year's Wimbledon (although those 2 are the 2 most recent meetings).
Am also on Odesnik to beat Qureshi @ 1.5 (good on grass, not so good on other surfaces), Eschauer to beat Cuevas @ 3 (neither in great form, will take the veteran at that kind of price though) and Mayr to beat Muller @ 2.5 (Muller in terrible form, Mayr in excellent form on the ITF circuit, has made 4 finals since May, winning one, plus a SF in another tournament, and playing in her home country here).
Good luck all for today

Re: Tennis week 14-20 July 2008
Quite like one bet today - Parmentier to beat Groenefeld @3.1 - 5 pts
I'm extremely surpriced by Groenefeld's good recent results and I can't believe she's moving that well along the court with her enormous figure. Anyway, I can't miss the chance to oppose her as such a big favourite against the French who played decent tennis in the previous round and is quite capable of winning this one too.
