I like those two Komb - Clijsters struggling with injury and Michaela Krajicek is a player I've always like - should be destined for big things in the future.

Nope, no luck this time and I lost my 3 points going against Clijsters K... the other bet was returned to me. Should have played Chela but was late for them value odds and was left only with some carppy 1.44 so I did not dare... Well, next time!

Haven't had any time to update this, but no doubt my record is looking pretty horrible.

Anyway, just came on to mention Davydenko to beat Hrbaty @ around 8/15 incase I don't get a chance tomorrow. Hrbaty's been through 3 gruelling 5 setters in the heat to get this far. I'd fancy Davydenko anyway, but even moreso now.

Re: Tennis 2006 - Weeks 3 and 4, January 16-29 *Australian Open*

hey fellas...

2 bets for me 2moro:

Kiefer d. Chela - Kiefer focussed on getting back to top 10 this year. Chelas wins are over out of sorts opponents (Hewitt and Murray especially) + Kiefer smashed him in their only encounter back in 2003/
- going large bet for me here...big large.

2nd bet Hrbaty over Davydenko. OK he's 0-2 H2H on Hard Court but the Russian was very average over Aussie part-timer last round. Hrbaty has the confidence and always starts out the year quickly.
-just a small bet here tho for fun

Re: Tennis 2006 - Weeks 3 and 4, January 16-29 *Australian Open*

I am going against Clijsters K again, tonight. So far that will be my only bet(with Pinnacle btw) and if I win some soccer bets(I have Villareal's match over 2 goals and Barca's match under 3 goals) then I'll adopt something else... Good luck!

Clijsters K - Schiavone F 2 @4.68 for 3/10 with Pinnacle

What do you boys think about Hingis' chances..I've got £20 on her @ 22's, placed after her second game, placed mainly on a whim, based on her past.. I haven't really watched her in this competition and as she's currently trading at 8.4, should I lay her off, or does she have a reasonable chance of going all the way??

Re: Tennis 2006 - Weeks 3 and 4, January 16-29 *Australian Open*

I wrote all that stuff about Hingis' chances and then Peirce went and got knocked out by Benesova so all the stuff I rambled on about was pretty much irrelevant

But yeah, I think its worth waiting longer...she should get past Stosur(famous last words) and if she plays particularly badly there it might be time to lay off.

If she plays well though she should play Clijsters, and that should be a very tight match. You can either lay off before, or gamble that she might just win. She will probably need Clijsters to be playing below her best - maybe the injury problems flaring up, but she has a fighting chance.

If she were to win that the odds would obviously tumble again. Then I think it would be time to lay off, as I can't see her beating players like Davenport, Sharapova or Henin-Hardenne quite yet.

Im with you there too Trick but i just missed 22s and am stuck with 20s on her and have been keeping a very close eye on the market. She was as low as 7s which i maybe should have jumped on but was too late and as you say she is up to 8.4 now.

Been impressed with her each game and if im honest i think we are in with a great shout so im going to hold on a bit.

Im on Shiavone at 150/1 too as i seen her many times last season and was impressed with her and on her day she could beat many of the top women. At 75s just now but was as low as 50s. Hope she beats Clijsters like Komb says below as i would have a very top trading prospect.

Not a trader and am beginning to elarn the ropes. Interested in anyones thoughts though. With Schiavone when i got on her at 150/1 and she was down to 50s, would you's have layed her off then?

Ok...I know I've gone about 'gut feeling' in the footy forum, but I do get this feeling deeeeeeeeeeep down in the pit, that we're gonna see a famous story here as Hingis wins the Aussie Open...

nah, really, Hingis winning this year australian open edition would be a miracle. She has not faced yet a tough opponent, her great vision was enough until now, but later she will need also a bit of more power in their strokes and I really doubt she has reserves left in her current play.

freakin Hrbaty...up 2 sets and a break and then *chokes*(?)...

i can't see any more plays in the men's now - Federer, Nalbandian, Ljube & Kiefer will no doubt all be too short to back but too strong to oppose.

Federer may just not win the open tho - Haas has a decent record, Kiefer in a SF may at least take a set off of him...and if it's Bandy in the final there is a chance...small chance he could beat him again

Hrbaty just tired, having played 3 consecutive 5 setters in this heat, as predicted in the earlier post. No-one's going to win after a route through like that.
