You can obtain 9/1 on the Argie Bargies at many places, Bet365 and StanJames to name but two

Re: WORLD CUP WINNER

ITALY 9/1 for me. I don't remember when Italy had a more complete team than this one. They always have problems in first stage but after that they know how to get the results. As an outsider i will take MEXICO 40/1. i think they are mature now to do something more than ususal.

Re: WORLD CUP WINNER

I quite fancy the czechs who are over due to perform well on the world stage again. If Nedved plays at his best they will be a hard team to beat.

Re: WORLD CUP WINNER

Welcome Bobby Coo.

Agree with the Czechs. This is for many of them their last opportunity as several are ageing and more than likely to retire after the finals.

Chris- im joining you on that 125/1 price on Serbia. That is a ridiculously over priced team there if i ever knew one. You just have to look at their qualifying record to see they are no mugs.

Couple of surprise players missing from the USA side.

Taylor Twellman who i thought was a certainty has been left out. Last seasons MLS top goalscorer and MVP and he doesn't get in.

Add to that he has played 3 friendlies this year and scored 4 goals yet Arena feels he hasn't done enough and has taking others instead.

Noonan is another who has been left out. I thought he would be a great option to take off from the bench to try and change a game if things aren't going well enough.

But Mr Arena knows best and you can't argue with how he has done in major competitions so i will give him the benefit of the doubt.

Re: WORLD CUP WINNER

For me, the winner will come from one of Brazil, Argentina, Spain and Holland.
I have backed all 4 heavily with a view to trading off as the tournament progresses.

Re: WORLD CUP WINNER

If the Italians hadn't been caught up in this match fixing scandal I think they would have had a great chance. All 23 players in the squad play in Italy and they havn't been mentioned much which they would prefer.

Re: WORLD CUP WINNER

How do you see the match fixing scandals affecting them in Germany then?

I feel they'll be focused and you could well be right and they are worth a nibble.

Re: WORLD CUP WINNER

Well from what I have seen Juventus could be stripped of the title and a few other teams could be heavily fined and even be relegted. There is obviously still a lot of investigating to be done and a good chance there won't be much done but theplayers might still be thinking about this their futures too if clubs are heavily disciplined. I hope I am wrong because I think the Italians are ready to play some good football and not the usual defensive play we are use to. Pirlo is a fantastic player and very dangerous from set pieces and could very well be one of the players of the tournament.

Re: WORLD CUP WINNER

Im pretty sure that Buffon is the only player directley implicated in the whole match fixing affair. So I cant see it affecting them too much really.

Good shout, will be looking into this market a bit more in the coming weeks. (Once ive managed to trade out of that drunken bet on France anyway )

World Cup Bet

Czech Republic at around 30 to 1 is an excellent long shot bet to win the 2006 World Cup. The Czech team has experience, speed, and tremendous team coordination. They can compete with the strongest teams and with some good fortune, have a reasonably good shot to win it all. Certainly, the odds offered make a bet on the Czechs an irresisitable investment.

Re: WORLD CUP WINNER

A few will have seen this in the RFO but they point out a way of doubling the odds if you fancy Brazil, but not at the surely short 3.25

They point out you can back them to win the group @ around 1.3, then keep lumping the proceeds on each round to qualify, & even if each round the odds are only 1.36 to qualify, then as long as they win you'll get 4.4

They use the example with each game 1.5 & final odds of 6.5 but I've gone shorter to prove the point. you could always take a couple of 90 minutes bet to boost it further

Me, i'm undecided

Re: World Cup Winner

Duplicate thread John but i think the Czech team are geting no younger and Baros for all his worth just does not cut it any more like he did during the last Euro's even thought he did nothing @ club level in the UK.
Smicer, Nedved, and Pobersky are probably past their best too so i wouldent get my hopes up to much.

The Euro's in Portugal were their best shot of a recognised title with the team they had @ their disposal and they lost it completely in the end, the Current WC will be a far harder proposition.
