I've not yet decided on my bets (if any), but I think the value lies with Getafe.
Lurieroy, Sevilla are without Adriano. Not sure about Getafe, although I think they're without keeper Abbondanzieri. They've played their reserve keeper all the way through the competition anyway.

rcgills, I'd appreciate it if you could provide us with some info on how seriously (ie.not just the teams the sides will be fielding, but also how seriously they approach this) Sevilla are taking this.
Problem with domestic cup football across Europe (bar the FA Cup) stems from the fact their domestic cups are often not taken very seriously by the top teams.
Could Juande Ramos' comments just be a psychological ploy to throw Getafe off guard? It sounds bloody ridiculous a manager would express his "worry" on the even of a cup final...

I'd say it applies to the FA Cup too these days, Ed. However, while I'd agree that you're right that these competitions often aren't taken seriously in the earlier stages, I'd say that once you get to the semi-finals onwards, they are taken seriously. Getafe have never won a major trophy in their entire history, while Sevilla haven't won a domestic trophy since 1946.
I think the best indication of how seriously Sevilla will take this is in the fact that they allowed Dani Alves to miss the last game of the league season to go training with Brazil for the Copa America, on the condition that Brazil then allowed him to return for the Cup final. Bearing in mind Brazil released Robinho for Real Madrid for the last league game of the season, Sevilla would've been able to claim Alves, but they preferred to save him for tonight's game.
Then there's also the fact that between 65000 and 70000 Sevilla fans have made the trip to Madrid, half of them without tickets for the game.
However, while I don't doubt that Sevilla will be taking the game 100% seriously, I'm not convinced that's going to be enough for them. Since they won the UEFA Cup, they've fallen away a bit in terms of performance, and if they couldn't raise their game for the last 2 games of the season when still in contention for the title, I'm not so sure they'll be able to do so now. They've lost the momentum they had, the squad is looking tired, whereas Getafe have been preparing for this game for weeks now, resting key players in the league matches to ensure everyone's OK coming into this game. Kanoute's comments this week won't have helped at all either, and I'd say the fact he's asking for a move back to the Premier League (with the interested teams apparently being Portsmouth, Newcastle and Bolton) rather than staying with Sevilla to play in the Champions League next season doesn't reflect too well on Sevilla. HAving said that, Schuster being linked with Real Madrid is probably having a similarly destabilising effect on Getafe.
I'd make Sevilla marginal favourites in this one, but the value is definitely with Getafe and I'm going for Schuster to bow out at Getafe with a trophy.
Getafe to win the Cup (note, that's to win the trophy, whether it be in 90 minutes, ET or penalties) @ 2/1 4pts

Should also add for those that don't know that in terms of European qualification, there's nothing at stake here for either side. Sevilla are already qualified for the Champions league, which means Getafe automatically take the UEFA Cup place set aside for the Cup winners/finalists.

Thanks for the insight, rcgills.
On the basis of that, guess I'd either stick with Sevilla or leave this alone then. No disrespect, but it's hard to bring myself to back a side that has never won any major honours...

Yes, but Sevilla's last domestic honour dates back to 30 years before Getafe were even formed

I'm going against you rc - I've had a slice of Seville. I know the team spirit might not be as high as thye'd have liked but plainly down to them impressing over the season I'm backing Seville.

Re: Spanish Cup Final + Segunda B play offs Jun 23-24
Their manager Schuster has done well with the team and is greatly respected in Spain. They have nothing to lose and can go out and enjoy themselves. The pressure is on Seville now and i am convinced they will have a hard game. They had to go to penalties in the UEFA Cup Final and i think it will be a draw after 90 minutes today as well.

Re: Spanish Cup Final + Segunda B play offs Jun 23-24
Lineups:
| 1. Palop | 1. Luis García | | 4. Dani Alves | 2. Contra | | 2. Javi Navarro | 4. Belenguer | | 19. Dragutinovic | 5. Pulido | | 14. Escudé | 3. Paredes | | 8. Poulsen | 6. Celestini | | 11. Renato | 22. Casquero | | 15. Jesús Navas | 7. Cotelo | | 16. Puerta | 15. Nacho | | 10. Luis Fabiano | 14. Manu del Moral | | 12. Kanouté | 19. Güiza |
Couple of scorer bets, just for a bit of extra interest - Casquero to score any time @ 8.4 on Betfair. Has an excellent long range shot on him, scored a few spectactular goals this season, and spent 5 seasons with Sevilla, so will have an extra motivation in this one today. And Guiza to score any time @ 3.9 - Sevilla's president was slagging him off in the press this week, which should give him an extra incentive tonight. Both small stakes only.
