25.03. Ireland - Eircom League Cup

Dundalk v Monaghan United
Wexford Youths v Cobh Ramblers

Dundalk to rest stars for Monaghan clash

March 25, 2008

Dundalk manager John Gill is expected to rest several players for Tuesday night’s eircom League Cup first round clash with Monaghan United.

The Lilywhites face Wexford Youths in a First Division encounter on Thursday, and with that game in mind he will look to his fringe players for the visit of Monaghan to Oriel Park.

Tiernan Mulvenna, Aaron Shanahan and Stefan McKevitt are in line for a promotion to the first XI, while experienced pair Paul Smyth and Paul Marney could earn starting roles having been utilised as substitutes this season to date.

Former Monaghan striker Robbie Farrell misses the game due to a suspension carried over from his time at Kingspan Century Park.

Mick Cooke’s Mons will bid to improve upon their last visit to Oriel just 11 days ago, when they went down to a 3-0 defeat, and they go into this game in good heart following a somewhat surprise win over Shelbourne on Friday.

Cooke said: “Going to Oriel is always a tough task for us and [Dundalk manager John] Gill has proven this season already that they are promotion contenders so Tuesday’s game will be a challenge.

“I was boosted by the team’s performance on Friday but they will have to lift their game even more if we are to move into the next round of the cup. We had a good result against Shelbourne so hopefully we can redeem ourselves further in Oriel Park.”

Kevin Williamson (chest infection) and former Dundalk man James Hand (calf) are both rated doubtful for the visitors.

sooooo, I have Monaghan at @ 6,50 It is a bonus tip, and lots of times it is a huger surprise, like Valencia, Rapid Wiena, Sochaux, Atl. Madrid, Villareal just to name a few. Am I going to take it, and bite my nails tonight, or should I just leave it and maybe kill myself at the end of the game?
Anyone?

Can't talk you off taking Monaghan, Cro Sensation

For me that's a competition for long shots only and laying Dundalk looks a reasonable bet.

I'll take a bit just to bite my nails too .

Lay Dundalk @1.65 - 1.5/10

Good luck there

Brilliant! Just read on some other forum that Dundalk is more interested in promotion to the Eircom Premier, niceee, wish them to do that, and lose tonight
I'm like fashion model, they don't get out of bed for less than 10000 dollars, I don't leave my bed for odds less than 6,00
hope after comes

from other forum
This is actually a battle between Wexford Reserves vs Cobh Ramblers Reserves. Its true that Cobh Reserves are stronger than Wexford Reserves, but nothing can be predicted as this is an away match for Cobh and they r not good playing away, or some times Wexford can rely on some substitutions and get a draw in the end. Quite Unclear eventhough Cobh are favourites here.

I hear that there is bad weather, so it might be a problem for scoring goals.

might take 1X @ 1,84, together with Monaghan @ 6,60 and Northwich x2 @ 1,91 and Bellinzona - Concordia over 3 @ 2,03, and if I win, you'l see me at Hampden Park tomorow night
