Aussie Footie 26th July

will try and post prices later but reading RFo they say Lads are quoting 100/30 about Inglewood away to Western Knights. This is obviously a mistake as everybody else are quoting 4/5 etc but just thought I'd mention it

Re: Aussie Footie 26th July

EARLY THOUGHTS

WERRIBEE - Better class for me and EVS is about the right price.

MORELAND - Maybe a touch better than their league position suggests and have been in each of their last 6 ganes ( 3 draws and 3 one goal defeats ) Ballarat coceded 8 in their last 2 as well.

N GEELONG - Big win last week for Pascoe, but pressure on them again against the division's form team.

STONNINGTON - South Springvale only have 1 point from their last 3 games ( against the bottom 3 ) and look to be struggling. Stonny are anything but consistent, but should be too good.

BANYULE - Will have to check if Skybet;s 6/5 is still available, but odds on with all other bookies and odds on with me.

SYDENHAM - In decent form at the moment and Sunbury look very poor

BERWICK - EVenly matched with Croydon, but admittedly their recent form is worse. Still there only heavy defeat was against Morwell. Think I noticed some rumours of unrest at Croydon as well.

ARMADALE PARK - Pretty much the same reasoning as the last 2 weeks. Skybet's 10/1 is just too big.

WESTERN KNIGHTS - Plenty of talk on the forums about this one and general consensus is that 5/2 Knights is the value.

Re: Aussie Footie 26th July

BKM I think the mistake is with the RFO as I've seen a few similarly back to front prices: e.g. Metro Stars 23-10 with Hills instead of 2-5 and Sorrento 5-2 at home (I wish!).
Won't have time to post again so can I please offer little reasoning and suggest folk look at the following goodish value bets
Dianella
Sorrento
Wanneroo
Playford
Armadale x/2
Forrestfield
Eastern L

some form is very recent and maybe I am being overly optimistic but I think there is value here. In the case of Armadale, they've added a lot of new players and matched the best teams in the league in the last couple of weeks with ten players (well, they lost to a late goal from Inglewood but held Sorrento with ten men).

Re: Aussie Footie 26th July

agree with your call on Sydenham Samoan and I did follow Stonny until their dropped point v PMelbourne last week.....11/8 for them is very tempting

Re: Aussie Footie 26th July

Sorry about the price cockups in the RFO - you can tell which games are affected by silly figures under 100 in the Best Odds percentage column on the right.

The numbers have to be input manually under considerable deadline pressure, so it's actually a miracle that not more mistakes are made to be honest.

Anyway, seeing as things have got a bit thin here in recent weeks, here are some OZ stats to help things along. Although the bookies have wised up about the Aussies by this time of year on the whole, there are one or two promising imo.

Three of us compile this. Two of us are professional journalists. The others have agreed to me reproducing it here after a little editing. Enjoy - or more importantly, make a profit!

1. OZ TEAMS WITH GOOD RECORDS AGAINST THEIR NEXT OPPONENTS

Home teams who usually beat their weekend visitors in order of strength: Ashfield (32), Adelaide Blue Eagles (38) and Cockburn Utd (28).

Away teams visiting favourite grounds in order of strength: Werribee City (4), Heatherton (24), Sydenham (19), Metro Stars (40), Adelaide R. (41), Gosnells (36), Salisbury Utd. (47) and Pirates (45)

2. MINI-PREVIEWS

KEY: Figures in brackets after team names show how many score-draws that team has played this season. Letters before home team and after away team show current home or away record with the most recent result to the right. The first double, hyphenated numbers after away team's sequence shows the current five match form of each side. That is followed by the difference between the current Racing and Football Outlook six match home form and six match away form figures - which we compile for them. In both cases, the form of opponents plus margins of defeat or loss are taken into account. For the Outlook Ratings +figures indicate home team supremacy and -figures away team superiority. A zero means the teams are level.

VICTORIA DIVISION I
1: (0) XLOWL KEILOR (3) v (3) DANDENONG WWWWW (48-57) (-28)
Dandenong won 8 of last 11
Dandenong have the best away defence
Dandenong are 11 games without a loss.
They are 4/7 with Skybet to continue their run of away wins but only 4/9 with Hills.
They won the reverse 7-0.
2: (10) LLLWL LANGWARRIN (2) v (4) CLIFTON HILL WXOWX (44-50) (-26)
Langwarrin lost last 3
Langwarrin have the worst home attack, but they have had the hardest set of homes in this Division so far. They are 1-1-6 at home and Clifton Hill have lost just the one away, so you can see why the away win is odds on with Skybet, but it is Evens elsewhere. Remember that Langy won 4-0 at their place though.
Langy have two back and one suspended (all sent off the previous week) and this is a must win. Good enough on their day. Clifton Hill have one suspension.
3: (2) LLLOW S. STARS (1) v (1) SUNSHINE G LXWWW (67-56) (-23)
S. Stars have now won 4 off the reel
S. Stars have the best five-match-form in this Division
Sunshine G. won 3 of last 4 (and drawn the other)
S. Stars are 17 homes without a score-draw.
SS have had the easiest homes in Vic One so far – and have still won only half their homes. This changes that. Georgies won the reverse 4-0.

VICTORIA DIVISION II
4: (16) LLLLX ALTONA C. (3) v (4) WERRIBEE C XXXLW (55-51) (-21)
Altona C. lost 4 of last 5 at home
Werribee Cty won 4 of last 6
The away win is 21/20 with Hills. Bees have collected ten points from their last three visits.
Local SW derby, Werribee have two back, including top scorer Martin Collins.
5: (4) LOXWL BRUNSWICK C (3) v (3) MARIBYRNONG WLLLL (54-32) (-3)
Maribyrnong lost 9 of last 11, including the last six, and have conceded at least 2 in each of their last nine. Brunswick won the reverse 2-0.
Maribyrnong have the worst five-match-form in this Division but have had the hardest set of aways so far – not least of course because they cannot visit themselves!
Brunswick have one back.
6: (1) OWLWW E. ALTONA (3) v (1) THOMASTOWN LWLLX (54-51) (+4)
E. Altona won 6 of last 8 at home
E. Altona have the best home defence
Thomastown have the best away attack
Thomastown have the worst away defence
E. Altona are 10 homes without a score-draw.
Thomastown have one back.
7: (2) XLLXX MORELAND (5) v (4) BALLARAT WWXOL (40-43) (-5)
Given those form figures, ‘Rat look a bit short to me. Ballamouse...
Ballarat have one suspension.
8: (12) WLOXW N. GEELONG (4) v (3) PASCOE VALE OWOWW (68-58) (-9)
N. Geelong won last 3 on the trot, scoring 10 without reply, including a 5-0 against a team second in the table at the time.
N. Geelong have the best five-match-form in this Division
Pascoe Vale are 16 without a loss – they are unbeaten this season, though they have drawn nearly half of their games Pascoe Vale have the best away defence. Pascoe Vale are 22 aways without a score-draw. Vale’s record might be under threat here in my view, even though NG have contrived to play both the easiest homes and the easiest aways. Most lists have them both at 11/8 so this is probably best left. I was hoping from something nearer 7/4 for the home win.
NG have one suspension, PV have two important players banned. Only one goes up, my guess is that PV, who have a five point lead, will play not to lose.
9: (2) LLLOL WILLIAMSTOWN (1) v (2) CAIRNLEA LOOXL (50-44) (-17)
Williamstown lost 4 of last 5 at home
Williamstown have the worst home attack
Cairnlea have the worst away attack
Williamstown won the reverse 5-1.
Cairnlea have one back, could nick a point.

VICTORIA DIVISION III
10: (0) LOWLW EASTERN L. (0) v (4) DIAMOND V. WXWWW (43-40) (-26)
Eastern L. have the worst home attack
Diamond V. won last 3 on the trot away
Diamond V. have the worst five-match-form in this Division, but only because their last five games have been at home. Away from home they are 4-2-2 even though they have had the toughest set of aways. Away at others in the bottom half of the table so far they are 2-1-0-6-1. Lions won the reverse 2-0. Eastern L. are 22 homes without a score-draw.
11: (11) LWWOW KNOX CITY (1) v (1) NORTHCOTE XWWWL (51-51) (-9)
Knox City won 6 of last 8 at home
Knox City have the best home defence – just four conceded so far.
Northcote C. have the best away attack, but then the leaders have had the easiest aways so far.
Knox City are 10 homes without a score-draw. That might end here.
Must-win for Knox who have two back, Northcote have a seven point cushion at the top and only one goes up. They were under-strength on Saturday but have a few back for this, including their top striker and he's good.
12: (2) LXLWX S.SPRINGVALE (2) v (2) STONNINGTON WLLWW (47-64) (-20)
Stonnington have the best five-match-form in this Division
Stonnington are 13 aways without a score-draw.
Given the form figures, the Stones are big at 11/8 with Hills.
Greek clash, Stonny have one back.
13: (0) LXLLL WAVERLEY W (2) v (3) CASEY C. WLWXL (46-49) (-21)
Waverley W. lost 6 of last 7 at home
Waverley W. have the worst home attack
Waverley W. have the worst home defence
Comets should land the 4/6.

VICTORIA DIVISION IV
14: (1) WLLWW BANYULE (1) v (4) N. SUNSHINE LLWLL (44-34) (+16)
Banyule won 7 of last 10 at home
Banyule have the worst home attack
N. Sunshine lost 4 of last 5
N. Sunshine have dropped 5 places in the last month.
N. Sunshine have the worst five-match-form in this Division
N. Sunshine have the worst away defence
Banyule are 12 homes without a score-draw.
N. Sunshine are 25 aways without a score-draw.
Judging by this month’s form, Banyule stand out at a bit at 6/5 with Skybet when others are odds-on.
Banyule have one returning, Sunshine have one suspension.
15: (4) WWLWX GEELONG (6) v (5) GEELONG R. OXXWL (52-61) (+1)
Geelong R. won 5 of last 7
Geelong R. have the best five-match-form in this Division. They have scored 2, 4 or 5 in each of their last seven games. They take over at the top if they win.
Local derby, Geelong have one back.
16: (0) OWXWW LALOR (4) v (4) YARRAVILLE XWOWL (56-49) (-4)
Lalor won 3 of last 4 (and drawn the other) at home
Lalor have the best home defence, but they have had the easiest set of homes so far.
Yarraville have the best away defence
Greek .v. Greek.
17: (6) LXXWW LALOR U. (4) v (3) LAVERTON P LLLLL (49-53) (+19)
Laverton Pk. lost 8 of last 9 away
Laverton Pk. have the worst away attack, but have had the toughest
set of aways so far. United won the reverse 3-0, but Lav have improved since then.
Lalor Utd have one suspension, they have blown up around this time for the last two seasons and lost 5-1 on Saturday. Laverton are better now with players returned from injury and although destined for the drop, could nick a point.
18: (1) OWLXW LATROBE U (4) v (1) WESTVALE LXWLW (48-54) (-8)
Westvale won last 3 on the trot
Westvale have one back from a ban.
19: (0) XWLXX SUNBURY (5) v (5) SYDENHAM LXWWX (41-59) (-7)
Sunbury lost 4 of last 6. They have had the hardest set of homes so far but that will only get worse with this fixture because Sydenham are 10 without a loss.
Sunbury are second bottom because they have yet to record a clean sheet and they have not scored more than one in a game since May. Syd are OK at 4/5 with Skybet but I would not accept any less. These two have done well on each other’s grounds in recent years.
Sunbury have one back and two suspended, including the keeper.
Sydenham have one out.

VICTORIA DIVISION V
20: (4) WWOLL BOROONDARA (1) v (2) SOUTHERN S WLXWL (49-52) (-3)
Boroondara have had the easiest set of homes so far, but won the reverse 3-0.
21: (1) LLXWL BRANDON PK (3) v (4) DOVETON LXXLL (50-37) (-4)
Brandon Pk. lost 4 of last 6 at home
Doveton lost 5 of last 7 and drawn the other 2 away
Doveton have the worst five-match-form in this Division
Doveton have the worst away defence
BP won the reverse 3-1 and have some appeal at 11/10 with Skybet.
Doveton have one back but something's wrong down there, my guess is that age and commitment have caught up with some of the older players.
22: (12) LWLWW CROYDON (3) v (4) BERWICK C. LXXLW (49-43) (+2)
Croydon won 4 of last 6 at home
Berwick C. lost 4 of last 6
Croydon have two key suspensions and their best players has a long term injury. Berwick have one key man back but there has been a big turnover of players. They are capable of a result.
23: (10) WWWXW MORWELL (3) v (1) SPRINGVALE LLWWX (64-47) (-4)
Morwell won 10 of last 12 (drawing 2)
Morwell have the best five-match-form in this Division, which they lead by six points and they won the reverse 3-1. They are only 8/15 though.
Morwell's leading scorer is banned, Springy also have a regular out.
24: (3) XXXWW SANDRINGHAM (4) v (3) HEATHERTON XLLXW (47-62) (+7)
Sandringham lost 3 of last 4
Heatherton won 8 of last 11. They have won four on the bounce here, scoring 14 in the process and should land 8/11 at Skybet.
Near neighbours, Heatherton have one back.

VICTORIA DIVISION VI
25: (9) WXLLL AVONDALE (4) v (2) GLENROY LWWLW (43-55) (-17)
Avondale lost 5 of last 7 and drawn the other 2
Avondale have the worst home attack
Glenroy won last 3 and won the reverse 4-1. They should land the 4/7
Glenroy are 11 aways without a score-draw. They have had the easiest set of aways in Vic Six to date. This doesn’t change that.
26: (14) WLWWL CORIO (1) v (3) HUME LOXWW (51-64) (-21)
Corio won 6 of last 8
Leaders Hume won last 4 on the trot
Hume have the best five-match-form in this Division
Hume have the best away attack
Corio are 12 homes without a score-draw. They will pleased with one here. They have had the easiest set of homes in Vic Six. Until now. Hume are 11/10 on the Bet365/Ladbrokes/Super Soccer list.
Corio are pushing for promotion, they have two suspensions. Hume have faltered at the end of the last two seasons and just missed promotion but a seven point lead should be a good enough cushion this time round.

WEST AUSTRALIA PREMIER DIVISION
27: (4) LWWWW ATHENA (0) v (1) FREMANTLE LLOLL (60-36) (+17)
Athena won 8 of last 11
Athena have the best home defence
Fremantle C. lost 11 of last 13, drawing the other two.
Athena are 13 homes without a score-draw.
Fremantle C. are 12 aways without a score-draw. Make that 13 after this little trip.
Athena are about right at 1/7 (when Canning are value at that price).
Athena should of course win – they won the reverse 3-0.
Athena have one suspension.
28: (0) WWWLW COCKBURN (3) v (1) ARMADALE LLLWL (42-55) (+9)
Cockburn won 5 of last 7 at home
Cockburn have dropped 4 places in the last month.
Armadale lost 13 of last 16 – and their last three here.
Armadale have the worst away attack
Armadale are 13 aways without a score-draw.
No home banker this, even though Cockburn won the reverse 3-0.
Only the bottom two have conceded more at home than Cockburn who have the worst defence in the top eight. As we keep saying, Armadale have recruited and improved and they should not be out at 10/1 where Skybet have pushed them, with the draw at 9/2. They have picked up the same number of points from their last five games as Cockburn. They have just held the leaders to a draw after
losing only 1-0 away at the second placed side who well clear in the form table...
Armadale have two out but their form is good enough to make this a close call.
29: (5) WWLWW JOONDALUP (2) v (2) MANDURAH XWLWL (54-39) (-9)
Joondalup won 4 of last 5 at home
Mandurah lost 4 of last 5
Mandurah have dropped 4 places in the last month.
Mandurah have the best away attack
Joondy have one back, Mandurah have their best player returning.
30: (3) WOWLW W. KNIGHTS (0) v (1) INGLEWOOD WLLWW (46-64) (-13)
Inglewood won last 6 on the trot
Inglewood have the best away defence
They have an excellent record here, too, winning each of the last two seasons and scoring three each time. Ingle won the reverse 2-0 too.
30. Knights have one back and their top scorer suspended, Inglewood have
two back. Anyone's guess.
31: (0) WWLWW SORRENTO (3) v (4) STIRLING L XLXWL (70-50) (0)
Sorrento won 4 of last 5
Sorrento have the best five-match-form in this Division
Sorrento have the best home attack, but the leaders have had the easiest homes in the Western Prem. to date.

WEST AUSTRALIA DIVISION I
32: (7) LLLLW ASHFIELD (2) v (2) MORLEY WXLLX (35-37) (-12)
Ashfield lost 8 of last 10
Morley lost 4 of last 5
Local derby
33: (4) WWXWL BALCATTA (3) v (2) FORRESTFIELD LLLLW (54-55) (+9)
Balcatta have the best home defence
34: (7) WXXOW BAYSWATER (5) v (1) SW PHOENIX LWXWW (54-64) (-8)
S W Phoenix won 11 of last 14 (drawing 1). Baysie won the reverse 4-0, but have beaten only duffers since then while SWP have gone on a run of 8 wins in 9, only failing to win when drawing with the leaders.
35: (2) WWXWW CANNING (3) v (2) ROCKINGHAM LLLLL (66-31) (+29)
Canning won 10 of last 11 (drawing 1)
Canning have the best five-match-form in this Division
Rockingham lost last 10 in a row
Rockingham have the worst five-match-form in this Division
Rockingham have the worst away defence
Canning are 13 games without a loss.
Rockingham are 18 games without a win.
Rockingham are 18 aways without a win.
Basically, Rocky have gone at the game and even at 1/6, the unbeaten leaders are value.
They should be closer to 1/20. They won the reverse 4-1 and will probably win this by more.
Canning have their top scorer back, one man returns for Rocky.
36: (3) WXWWL DIANELLA (2) v (3) GOSNELLS LXXWL (47-50) (-6)
Dianella have one out, Gosnells have two returning
37: (10) WXLLX WANNEROO (3) v (0) QUEENS PK LLLWL (60-47) (+3)
Wanneroo won 3 of last 4 (and drawn the other)
Queens Park lost 9 of last 12 and have yet to draw this season.
Queens Park have the worst away attack but they have had the toughest set of aways in W1.
Wanneroo won the reverse 6-2.

SOUTH AUSTRALIA SUPER LEAGUE
38: (1) OWOXL BLUE EAGLES (2) v (1) WHITE CITY LWXLL (48-43) (-7)
White City lost last 3
This will be a tight game now ABE have their defence back to full strength. White City do tend to struggle away from home though.
39: (2) LWWLO CAMPBELLTOWN (1) v (3) PARA HILLS LXXLW (46-50) (-4)
Para Hills won last 3
Campbelltown are 11 homes without a score-draw.
Good win for Campy on Monday, gives them a squeak here. Para needs points for a top five finals berth, so may play for the draw.
40: (2) LXLXL CROYDON (3) v (2) METRO STARS OLLXW (34-57) (-25)
Croydon lost 10 of last 13
Croydon have the worst five-match-form in this Division
Croydon have the worst home attack
Croydon have the worst home defence, but they have had the toughest set of homes in the SSP.
Croydon are winless this season - 14 games. The have conceded 3 or more in four of their last five.
Banker aways are more reliable Down Under. Stars are unbeaten in eight meetings and they have taken ten points from their last four trips here.
The gulf in class is huge and with the Stars still in with a chance of topping the table, they'll be making sure of coming away with maximum points.
41: (0) WLXWW GALAXY (2) v (5) ADELAIDE R LLXWL (59-58) (+2)
Galaxy have the best five-match-form in this Division and won the reverse 4-2, but Raiders do well here - they have taken 16 points from their last six visits, scoring 16 in that run and conceding only 4.
Game of the round for me...Good midfield battle although Raiders have superior wingers. Raiders do well here and should pick up at least a point.

SOUTH AUSTRALIA PREMIER LEAGUE
42: (15) WLWXO AD HILLS (1) v (3) COMETS LWWXL (54-47) (+1)
Leaders Comets have had the easiest set of aways so far, but then Hills have had the easiest homes.
As I said last week, I’m not a big 'Hills at home' fan. If Comets play their usual dirty game, they'll break Hills down and nick it. Not a betting proposition though.
43: (9) LXWWW CUMBERLAND (4) v (3) WESTERN S LWLWW (49-60) (+1)
Cumberland won last 3 in a row at home
Western S won 6 of last 8
Strikers in form with a fourth straight win and should come away with all three points here, especially if MacDonald doesn't play and Bulabek gets into space.
44: (2) WLWLL OLYMPIC (2) v (4) AD COBRAS LWWXW (39-45) (-10)
Olympic lost last 3
Olympic have the worst five-match-form in this Division
Ad Cobras won 3 of last 4 (and drawn the other) away
If Olympic lose, they'll drop out of the top five for the first time this season Ugandan Jimmy Okello back in the Cobras side last week and scored. Oliver Totani proving he is too good for this league...Visitors good for a point.
45: (4) LLLOW PANTHERS (2) v (3) PIRATES XXWXL (62-50) (-7)
Panthers have the best five-match-form in this Division
Panthers have the worst home attack
Pirates have won their last three here.
Brett Rayner has found a decent strike partner in Rick Mahoney. They ran rings round the Olympic defence last week, so the slower oldies at the back for Pirates should be in for a torrid time. Pirates also have a decent forward line in Coley and Loizides, so we should have goals.

SOUTH AUSTRALIA STATE LEAGUE
46: (7) WLWXW NAB (2) v (3) NORTHERN D WWWWX (63-43) (-16)
NAB won 8 of last 11
Northern D won 4 of last 5 away
Northern D have dropped 4 places in the last month.
Demons taken apart by WAB last week. NAB looking the part. The result will be decided on who wants it more on the day.

47: (1) XLLLX PORT PIRIE (2) v (1) SALISBURY LWLWW (30-67) (-18)
Port Pirie lost 13 of last 16
Port Pirie have the worst five-match-form in this Division
Port Pirie have the worst home defence
Salisbury U. won last three and three of their last four aways.
Salisbury U. have the best five-match-form in this Division.
Port Pirie are 12 games without a win and lost the reverse 4-0.
Salisbury U. are 15 aways without a score-draw.
Even at just 3/10 (Lads, Bet365, Super Soccer) Salisbury are value.
Pirie apparently outplayed and very poor in all departments last week at Gawler, which makes their draw the previous week at home to Demons even more unbelieveable. Even with Salisbury's injuries, it’s got to be an away win.

48: (4) LLWWL TOROS (1) v (3) PLAYFORD XWWWL (49-54) (-18)
Toros lost 4 of last 6
Playford won 5 of last 7 and should land the 8/11 with Lads, Bet365 or Super Socc.
Apparently, the Seaford keeper played a blinder last week to keep Playford down to a two goal margin. Toros are a gritty side and reports from last week game v NAB proved the point. If Toros manage to score first, Playford will find it hard to break them down, hence the need for the away side to get an early goal.
49: (19) LWWLW WEST ADELAIDE (2) v (1) GAWLER WWLLL (62-41) (+1)
W Adelaide won 5 of last 7 at home
W Adelaide have the best home attack
Gawler lost 12 of last 15 away
West Adelaide won the reverse 6-1.
Now playing next Saturday. Will be non-runner with the bookies although they don’t know it yet and a Panel decision on the Pools.

Re: Aussie Footie 26th July

I'm already on Dandenong and Canning double as these are in my view the nearest thing to a penalty kick.

I've also permed Sunshine, Werribee, Northcote, Inglewood and SWP.

Canning have won their last two games in the last ten mins but no such problems here I'm guessing.

Great stuff from Possum. I have my copy of the RFO but I like the late extra information here. I also find the match reports on footballwa.net (and the previews) very useful.

Not too much extra information, but will be adding NAB to my list. Northern Demons are out of the title race and rumour has it that one of their main strikers has left the club.

Re: Aussie Footie 26th July

In haste.

Odds-against of interest are Werribee, Stonnington, Banyule, Brandon Park and Hume. Outsider X2 - Armadale. More solid X2 - Gosnells. (Dianella missing three regulars.)

Odds ons where the stats and any team news point in the same direction are Sydenham, Canning, Wanneroo and Salisbury.

Good luck with your own picks.
