Ignore my main preview, Prinze, as for some reason I thought Almeria were playing Gijon. Think I was asleep at the time too.

I've backed Barca but it's one of those times when I've got an uneasy feeling that I'm missing something somewhere. They are as low as 1.53 with the bookies but have drifted out to 1.8 on betfair.

I think the missing feeling has something to do with the number of stars who will be absent today.

Messi, Ronaldhino, Motta, Xabi, Marquez, Oleguer to name a few.

Full squad is;

Quote:
Valdés, Jorquera, Iniesta, Van Bommel, Ezquerro, Gio, Larsson, Deco, Rodri, Maxi, Puyol, Gabri, Eto'o, Edmilson, Belletti, Giuly and Sylvinho.
Racing aren't the worst team in Spain and a similarly weakish Barca struggled to a 0-0 draw in their last league game away from home agianst the worst side in La Liga.

Re: Spanish football 8-9 April

I really don't rate Barça as anything more than a good side without Ronaldinho. With him they're excellent, but if Ronaldinho's missing, anything's possible. Their last away game was a 0-0 draw away to Malaga, bottom of the league and virtually relegated, and Ronaldinho was missing then, too. I couldn't back them with any confidence without him, and I think the value lies with Santander here.

Thanks Was, beat me to it. And don't forget that Barça's last 4 trips to Santander have included a 3-0 and a 4-0 defeat. You on Santander, Was?

Its on the shortlist RC. A few English, Scottish and Italian games to consider before I move on to La Liga.

Re: Spanish football 8-9 April

just copy / paste from BA forum..........

Update Sunday 9/4:
Zaragoza. 7 regulars won't start the game . the 2 suspended Ponzio, Cani and Gabi Milito, Toledo, Celades, Zapater, Ewerthon, who will be in the bench. Also striker Diego Milito, will play only in the 1rst part.

Sevillla. The 3 players that were out against Zenit (not important at all). Maresca did it in the squad.

SEVILLA FC: Palop - Daniel Alves, Javi Navarro, Escudé, David - Jesús Navas, Martí, Renato, Adriano - Kanouté, Saviola.
REAL ZARAGOZA: César Sánchez - Cuartero, Alvaro, Capi, (?) - Movilla, Generelo - Oscar González, Sergio García, Savio - Diego Milito

so jump on it now.......there is class act and motivation on Sevilla side despite long trip to Russia where they got just a really friendly game.........

Re: Spanish football 8-9 April

Well I'm having to cross my fingers and hope now as my bet has already been matched on Barcelona. I didn't realise Ronaldhino wasn't playing. Which sites do you use for team news for european football gents?

Re: Spanish football 8-9 April

I get all mine from Spanish language sites, Gett1n. ESPN (in Spanish), Marca, AS (two sports papers), and the club's own websites. Some clubs have their websites in English too, although less detailed than the Spanish sections. Below are some links. The Deportivo one isn't an official site, but it is a very good one, the others are the official sites

http://www.fcbarcelona.com/eng/home-...ome/home.shtml
http://www.realmadrid.com/portada_eng.htm
http://www.deportivo-la-coruna.com/
http://www.clubatleticodemadrid.com/en/index.asp
http://www.osasuna.es/web_eng/noticias/available.asp

Then there's also
http://www.villarrealcf.es/

that's an official site, but I can't link to the English section (whatever page you're viewing, you have the above address in the address bar). In the top right hand corner you've got "+idiomas", that'll give you the option to change it to English.

Same with http://www.athletic-club.es/ (Bilbao), the home page will have an option to open in English, and http://www.valenciacf.es/ has a Union Jack to click on, and http://www.rcdespanyol.com/ has an option to put it in English too.

Think that's it for the Primera Liga teams with websites in English. I've no idea what the quality of the English sections is like, though, as I always use the Spanish, but hopefully it should be of some use.

Re: Spanish football 8-9 April

For anyone interested in the Bilbao v Mallorca game, Bilbao have had to make three substitutions in the first 43 minutes of the game due to injuries.

Nope, not on telly anywhere over here that I can see, baobao. Have got the Marca text commentary of the afternoon's games on though, and there's no mention of anything on there.
