Setanta Cup 10-11 April

10 Apr-21:00Cork v Shelbourne2.203.253.20
11 Apr-21:00Linfield v Drogheda United1.903.203.40

This is Setanta Sport Cup semi final game. What is important is that semi final have only one game and if game is drawed after 90 minutes, two periods of 15 minutes extra time shell be played and if game is still a drawed then penalty shoot-out shell take a place to determine teh winner. The winners of this tie will also be guaranteed at least 80.000 Euros, and losers will pick up a check with 20.000 Euros. Well, Cork is most powerfull team in Ireland, very well organized and they have proved them selves in the UEFA Cup too. They have money, players, stadium and good support. What is more important they take this Sentanta Cup very very serious. It is a lot of money that winner will receive. Let's see the facts. It is hard to find a team that have defeated Cork on their home Ground (Turners Cross). Cork was supperior in last few years in Irealnd. For today game they will miss Michel Devine (goalkeeper) who damaged knee ligaments in friday win over Longford 2:1. Roy O'Donovan (midfield) is absent due to suspension. But, Cork will welcome back Alan Bennett (defender), while Billy Woods will replace O'Donovan in midfield. Cork boss Damien Richardson have stated that "It's a vital fixture for us and crucial is that we play well". Shelbourne is a good team in Irealnd, but so far in this season they have been incosistent, with only 3 wins in last 10 games. Recent financial problems have influenced players and there is a unrest in the team. Colin Hawkins and Joseph Ndo are out for this game. Shelbourne boss Pat Fenlon have concerns about referee's decisions. But hopes to pass Cork.

In this situation there is only one winner and it will be Cork.

Re: Setanta Cup

I am a season ticket holder at Turners Crosss and I will be at
the game this evening but I am a bit weary of backing Cork City
this evening.

Cork city have started the season very well but thay are finding it
hard to put teams away at home. 3 home wins so far have all been
by one goal and Shelbourne are a far better team than any of the three
that City have beaten so far. Also Shelbourne are well used to coming
to Cork and they will not be one bit phased about playing at Turners Cross.
With both teams missing players I see this as a no bet for me.

There is also a rumour going around Cork at the moment that
George O'Callaghhan (arguably our most influencial player) is not
100 % fit and not garunteed to play to-nite.........

Maybe I am being a bit cautious but there are easier games to make
money from than this one..........

Re: Setanta Cup 10-11 April

Young lad was sick when I got home from work so I gave my season
ticket to my next door neighbour...........

He says Cork City played very well, seemed to be in control of the game
but Shelbourne were a bit disapointing.

Cork City without regular goalkeeper and John O'Flynn
(who I meant to put in my previous post and not George O'Callaghan)
so overall we have got to be quite pleased..........

Bring on Linfield/Drogheda now, same day as Munster/Leinster I think
and I already have a ticket for that hmmm what to do.......

Re: Setanta Cup 10-11 April

I was watchin on setanta and i thought that shels were very unfortunate to go in a goal down at the break. they had most the play in the first half. they started off well enough in the second half but lost it when their peno was saved and cork scored not long after. after that cork were in control and as usual shels lost discipline and had a man sent off.

Tonite i cant see past a linfield win against Drogheda. Linfield have been winding down in their league since winning it and that could be the reason they lost for the first time on saturday. although drogheda have started really well in the eircom league i dont fancy them going forward against the better teams. they are also missin their regular goalkeeper and i think a linfield win to nil could be on the cards.
