Re: 31st May: Aussie State Football

Im going to checkout that Aussie stats site,I dont like it myself but theres no other site to go to.This week I will be viewing it in blue, what a great option that is all blue all green or all red,it such a help that when youve finished viewing all the stats and then look away everthing is that colour, last week I had green walls and my green girlfriend walked into the room,

Re: 31st May: Aussie State Football

Anyhow sorry Dude i had just woken up. Im hearing that Clifton Hill have just signed quite a few players that could be considered too good for the league. Need to read more but im away to see their odds. I think Samoan mentioned them too. Been hard so far this season after being promoted. Must have been last week you mentioned them Samoan if at all. bah they aint playing this week . Should be a bit of transfer talk about.

You mean this blue/green or reed site Basher?

hopefully the team will put on a better show than of late, i agree with gate13, training was of a different standard last night, a lot of possession work and running with the ball as opposed to the straight line running we've been doing for the last two months.

im hoping all the changes will be for the better...lookin forward to saturday

BETWEEN THE POSTS - ROUND 9 by COLOSSUS 8)

With the completion of Round 9 this weekend, it will officially be the half way mark of the season, and all coaches will be well aware of where their teams are at, and what they need to do to be Title contenders, to make the Top 5, or to simply survive relegation. As we all know, the Title this year will be decided by the Top 5 Finals Series format, much to the delight of the majority of supporters, and for the first time since we last played a Top 5 Series, there will also be 2 teams relegated to Premier League Football next season, so things are certainly hotting up going into the 2nd half of the season but we will touch on that next week when i bring you a SPECIAL EDITION of BETWEEN THE POSTS - HALF TIME, which will basically look at the season thus far, and the predictions ahead!!!

For now, lets concentrate on Round 9, which seems to give some very interesting fixtures.

ROUND 9
Round 9 officially ends the 1st half of the season proper, but the Super League Table is still far from being settled, although youd be forgiven for predicting that Adelaide City, Metro Stars & Galaxy will definately be playing Top 5 Football whilst youd also be forgiven for condemning Croydon to Premier League Football next year.
But still, one thing is for certain, it aint over till its over, and Nostradamus was one of a kind

The once almighty and untouchable Blue Eagles were given an absolute hammering last week, when they were thrashed 5 nil by the Raiders. This team that has been labelled "boring to watch" and "defensively minded", had obviously no concept of the word "defence" last Saturday. ABE are hanging on to 5th spot and risk losing it to late comers White City, who are on the charge.
Blue Eagles this week face a desparate for points Croydon, who are the only team in the competition without a win from 8 starts, and the "Azzurri" have given the Kings the confidence they need to get that first win with their result last week. Dont expect however, Eagles coach Pat Devita to allow his side to again be humiliated at the expense of a side who has yet to win a game. Marden is a hard ground to win at the best of times, let alone the worst. Croydon though, are struggling big time to say the least, and after they were also thrashed 4-1 by the Warriors last week, their confidence is as low as it could ever be. The Prophets of Doom, will be out in all their glory this Saturday afternoon if the Kings lose again, and with me tipping this to be the case, my pre-season tip of Croydon playing Premeir League Football again next season would almost be a reality.
Blue Eagles to bounce back and dethrone the Kings for good!!!

Last Saturday afternoon was witness to the first sign of a slowing Metro Machine. The VengaBus finally came to an unexpected halt, when it stalled at Bus Stop - Newton Village Sports Complex and ultimately gave up its reign as the No.1 Bus in the fleet. The shining Stars were dimmed when a rejuvenated Campbelltown City showed why it still shouldnt be ridden off for this seasons title. In a classic game of free flowing and end to end Football, Metro just didnt have the goods to deliver at one end what Campbelltown did deliver at the other.
Modbury on the other hand were held to a 1 all draw at home to Para Hills in the Northern Derby under lights at Jet Park on Friday night. With Modbury coming off 2 defeats, the draw at home was possibly a good result for them, but since winning their last game in Round 3 v Croydon, the Jets have manged to gain just 3 points of a possible 15 in their last 5 matches. Modbury now find themselves just 1 win away from both the Top 5, and the relegation zone, and this is probably the worst time to have to face the Stars.
If they are however to feature in this seasons Finals Series, teams like Metro are the ones you need to be competitive against.
Make no mistake that Metro were very good last week, they just didnt have the class needed in that final 3rd of the park, and that is the only reason they lost. They matched the Devils for class and movement, but lacked the finishing touch that the Reds had.
Metro to bounce back and give the Jets a footballing lesson.

In what possibly could be Match Of the Round, Para Hills this week host a possibly deflated Galaxy at The Paddocks. Galaxy have conceded 7 goals in their last 2 outings, 4 to Campbelltown in the Cup 2 weeks ago, and 3 to Adelaide City when they were comprehensively beaten 3 nil to the Black & Whites on Monday night under lights @ Oakden. More concerning for Galaxy coach Carl Maynard, is the fact that his side havent scored a single goal for those 2 games which is concerning when you consider the fact that they have averaged just over 2 goals per game this season. Maynard has the task of reminding his players that they arent 3rd on the table by fluke.
They have been playing some wonderful football in the first 7 rounds, and they are more than capable of beating the Knights.
Kinghts coach Rob DiTroia on the other hand will be reminding his men, that after a disastrous start to their 2008 campaign, they havent been beaten for 3 games, and are playing at home. With Galaxy at their most vulnerable so far this season, and Para Hills at their best so far, this game is easily worthy of Match of the Round.
For Para Hills to be as successful as they were last season, they need The Paddocks to be a fortress like it was last season when teams feared going there.
This game promises to do 1 of 2 things, either convince the rest of the League that Galaxy are indeed a genuine title contender, or convince the rest that Para Hills are well and truly back on track.
Im sitting on the fence for this one, cant honestly pick a winner.

In the other 2 games being played this week, Campbelltown have the unenviable task of travelling to a place they usually dont fare to well at, Frank Mitchell Park, to face a Warriors side gaining more and more confidence by the week under new coach Adrian Santrac. Expect the rejuvenated Devils to deliver another commanding performance and beat the Warriors on Serb soil.
Monday night will complete Round 9, when the Raiders travel up the road to Oakden, and face top of the table Adelaide City. I dont really know whether Raiders were good last week or ABE were bad, but whatever the case, expect the Black & Whites to take maximum points from this youthful but inexperienced team.

GOOD LUCK TO ALL TEAMS

Re: 31st May: Aussie State Football

I have gone for Sunshine, Chelsea, Comets and Salisbury.

All homes and all should oblige.

Much better odds at Bet365 than at Skybet.

Good luck all
