LA Galaxy v Chivas
Even this early on in the season this is a pretty huge game for both sides really. Chivas are already 3 points ahead of LA who sit at the bottom of their conference but Chivas also have 3 games in hand on them so a win for them here would be huge.
Likewise LA are in real need for a win here tonight but who can back them? 6 losses in a row, 1 goal scored in their last 6 games and a trio of players (Donovan, Albright and Glen) at the WC which are huge players for them and LA have had no answers without them. Add to this the fact that you have 2 players injured in Jones and Vagenas who are also big players for the side and you really wonder where LA's points are going to come from right now.
They sacked their coach Sampson a couple of days ago and he has been replaced by ex Grimbsy Town player Frank Yallop. He has had experience in the MLS before and done fairly well but its going to be very difficult to turn around a side that will be at rock bottom right now especially with such short space of time to work with them.
They have absolutely no quality going forward imo at the minute and not a player who will be able to stick the ball in the net regularly while the stars are away on WC duty.
Their defence is still pretty tough to break down to be fair to them with Marshall really standing up and he as been a stand out in recent games for me but they are still a bit thin with Albright missing.
For Chivas, if they perform to their high levels recently i have no worries about them winning this game as they are by far the better side at the moment.
Still to win away from home so far but they have played very well in many of the games and on another day would have come away with the 3 points.
Also a bit of unfinished business to come about too as they were robbed earlier in the season v LA when they conceded two goals in the last 10 minutes to lose the game when they were 1-0 up and cruising prior to that.
Upfront they are a joy to watch. Palencia and Garcia pulling the strings and creating plenty of chances as well as scoring too with both having 2 goals to their name so far.
Razov has been a big surprise and he is just what Chivas have been crying out for, a goalscorer who can regularly put the ball in the net.
For all the attacking joy to watch their defence has been a bit of an unsung hero so far imo.
3 clean sheets so far and you would have never have thought it possible after last seasons campaign but fair play to the management, they have reshuffled the side and Chivas actually look a very dangerous side this season who if luck goes their way could really do something in the play offs.
No real injury worries for Chivas but they do miss two quality players in O Brien and Suarez who are at the WC but they have coped very well without them unlike LA.
To sum up, the game is there for Chivas if they want it and it will all come down to their hunger here as they are a far better outfit than LA just now and probably wont get a better chance to beat an out of sorts LA side again.
The 3.25 available on Chivas is very generous when you look at the current state of affairs with both sides and i will quite happily have a good chunk on that. But i would advise a bit of cover on the draw as i do think its a bit of a danger due to LA's defence.
