Re: Aussie thread - July 14

I dont usually get into this till the morning (thanks for posting the thread btw Nas ) Lemme see what i would fancy off the top of my head.....

Western strikers to win at Comets? Comets held Cobras last week so it might not be that clear cut. One to look at though. Waverly Wanderers have a new manager and seem to have sorted out internal probs. Diamond were on a roll mind. I dont mind Elwood at home. Likewise endeavour are good at home and Morewell seem to be badly out of form. Seaford got their first win in 53 games last weekend. Need to look but i prob wont get involved.

Albion rovers i like home and away. Geelong Rangers i dont like. Sunbury at 8/11 to keep the pressure up on Werribee looks an ok price for me and i always like Westgate home or away. Moreland could have improved enough to beat promoted Maribyrnong who are pretty poor away from home. Perth have let me down a lot lately but im always interested in them. they'll need to win this if they have any ambition this season. Backing against Swan IC this season has caused me a bit but you have to keep on the right side of Sorrento.

Geordie's Stirling Lions (i havent had a chance to read your message Geordie but ive uploaded some albums for you, sort it out when i get home) home form is better than their away. I think they beat Wanneroo well already this season (need to check that)

Tight week all in on first impressions. Im pretty sure most of the World cup players will be back so team news could be interesting. Looking forward to it. Hopefully the girlfriend will be on broadband before Friday and i can get stuck in.

Re: Aussie thread - July 14

Here are my initial views this week but can't see too many value bets broms so i may have to have a peak at yours

In Vic Div 2 all games are too close to call imo

S Springvale to beat Chelsea in div 3

Sunbury and Werribee in the 4th

Heatherton and Mooroolbark look too good in the 5th and Avondale look nailed on in Div 6 but need to look again at Glenroy

Will Plenty V have some of their players back - if so this could do for me

In the Western Athena and Cockburn look promising and in DIv 1 Ashfield and Freemantle should also skate in and I could be tempted with Mandurah.

In the Southern I can't see anything that I could back with the exception of the Strikers again but need to do more searching.

I couldn't back Perth Komp as they've been awful every week i've touched them ! - come to think of it so have Plenty V

MOOROOLBARK LIFT ANOTHER GEAR.

On Saturday the Barkers continued their unbeaten run to eight games with a superb 2 – 1 victory away at league leaders Sandringham.
The Senior team are now playing a great brand of football and with key players such as Trontconni, Clausen, Cauteruccio and Kok all missing, the style and intensity of the play is all the more remarkable.
Against Sandy the boys started very well and took the game to the home team. In midfield Van Duppen began to dominate possession, which allowed the wide play of Coe and Hardcastle to enter the game. Coe showed great pace early to beat his marker but again his finishing let him down as he blazed over. Hardcastle also got in behind the defence on a few occasions, only to see his crosses dealt with by the strong Sandy backline. With no score on the board the home side began to find their feet and gained some possession during the middle period of the half, the game was now becoming a real tussle. In the 33rd minute the Barkers eventually broke the deadlock. A throw in down the right side of play was taken by Roper. Roper delivered a great flat throw into Kowalski on the edge of the box. His flick on header fell perfectly for Adams to run onto and the striker made no mistake outpacing his marker and coolly slotting the ball past the keeper. 1 – 0 Barkers. The next 10 minutes saw both teams pressing. Skinner was forced into a great save as the home side looked to level things. The barkers defence held firm though and apart from a long range shot the only danger Sandy had was from their obvious height advantage from set pieces and high balls into the box. The barkers dealt with the threat and created plenty down the flanks where Sandy looked exposed. HT 1 – 0
The second period was always going to be a battle, but the players were urged to continue to play to their own style and use the width to penetrate their big defence. The early stages looked good. Christoforou and Graham were both influencing the possession of the ball, and Adams and Kowalski were always trying to get involved. Again the Barkers had chances to kill the game off. Coe’s pace got him past the full back on a couple more occasions and the keeper save one with his cross blocked on another. Twenty minutes gone and the second half looked to be petering out to a chanceless finish which would have easily suited the barkers. However Sandy are not at the top of the competition for nothing and in the 68th minute they levelled the scores. Another long throw into the box saw their striker flick the ball onto the far post and the Barkers defence could only watch on as their winger popped up to nod the ball home. 1-1.
The home side were visibly lifted and for the next five minutes had control of the game. In response McCandless came on for Kowalski in an attempt to wrestle back some control of possession. The Barkers dug in and soon the mini storm passed and they were back in possession and looking to attack more. Then in the 78th minute the Barkers regained the lead. In a candidate for goal of the season competition what happened next would take a lot of beating. Brian Roper collected a loose pass deep in the Barkers half on the edge of his own penalty area. Avoiding an early challenge the central defender strode forward with the ball. A change of pace was enough to beat the central midfielder on the half way line and then the space opened. Roper surged through the space created by some clever runs by team mates and took the ball to the edge of the Sandy area. He then lifted his head and coolly shot low past the keeper and into the right hand corner. The Barkers faithful were ecstatic on the sideline as the players celebrated. 2 – 1 Barkers.
The last 10 minutes was played out without any major incidents and the boys have collected a great 3 points.

Re: Aussie thread - July 14

Nunwading beat Mooroolbark 3-1 last time but looking at the latest results and that Nunwading have a poor away record HOME win for me but 2/7 (1.28) isn't as big as I'd have liked

Re: Aussie thread - July 14

Spunk bubbles? is that a seminal post ADB? There's a lot of suspensions and injuries in all 3 of the Aussie leagues im sure but im we'll get our heads around it if we all muck in.

chelsea were missing 8 last week at waverly but still had the better of things (barr the result) I dont fancy taking on S springvale at the mo but it could be one to look at.

I dont fancy much in league 5 Kegman. Might give it a miss.

this annoyed me too-

Quote:
had the displeasure of watching a ****y Werribee decide to travel to Corio and start the match with 3 regulars on the bench thinking they'd win easily. Conceding the same amount of goals in the opening 45 minutes as they have in the prior 1170 minutes, Werribee decided to field their proper team after half time(WAKE UP).

I cant be arsed tonight. need to sleep. Just gonna see what info's about on the forums and head off for a kip before i finish my work. Get into it all with a beer tomorrow.

Playford 1st were good, especially in 1st half, just couldn't finish. Went to 3 at the back to try and get back into game but left them a bit light in defence. Michael Francis out (5 yellows) and Micky Edwards just back from overseas for 6 weeks only played short spell in 2nd half. Scored nice goal

WEEKEND IN SUMMARY

There was no shortage of goals in the association Cup quarter-finals with nineteen shared amongst four games. The honour of the highest scoring side went to trophy holder Perth S.C. who swept past Western Knights 5-1. David Onoforo and Barry Wood netted two apiece with Scott Bulloch also on the scoresheet, while the Knights solitary goal came via John Thornley. Cockburn City went through to the last four by beating Canning City 4-0 courtesy of goals from Shane Nunes, Paul Oliver, Jason Dos Santos and Simon ElChami Stirling Lions recovered from being a goal down at the break to inflict a surprise 2-1 defeat on Floreat Athena. Goals within three minutes of each other by Andy Brown and Ludovic Boi midway through the second half cancelled out Okwy Diamiondstar's earlier strike. Swan I.C. overcame a determined E.C.U. Joondalup 4-2 to book their place in the semi-finals. Scorers for the home side were Damien Catalano, David Foster, Tom Shepheard and Scott Campbell with Ian McMurray netting both for Joondlaup.

The return from injury of Robbie Puca is a major boost to Perth's chances and his skills will be important in the middle of the park
