Re: Midweek Brasilerio
Santos - Cruseiro
Wanderley Luxemburgo is no doubt KING FOR BRASILIAN soccer. He made miracles earlier in his career, and he makes miracles in this season. To be true Santos is medium strong Brasilian squad, but with Luxemburgo on the helm they are running sky high this season, and they were on of the team I love to bet on. Santos have 4-3-3 form in last 10 games, but they had one bad period when they lost 3 and drew 2 games in 6 weeks. Now they are 3-1-0 in last 4 games and have perfect oppurtunity to continue in winning streak. Luxemburgo gave his players monday off after 1-1 draw against Parana in Sunday (Santos missed penalty in that game...), and they started with practicies in tuesday, preparing for game against Cruzeiro. Only missing in that game will be influential midlefielder Chilean Maldonado (injured and with national selection), but in team is back Reinaldo after suspension.
Cruzeiro on the other hand have a lot of problems. They lost in sunday against Fluminense in last minutes of the game, 3-2, even they were 2-1 up until 70th minute. Flu showed once again that they play much better in closing minutes of the game, and won. Now Cruzeiro is in 5 games without win row, they have 3-4-3 form in last 10 games. Offcourse when the resoults are bad, coach is out. Yesterday they sacked coach Pablo Cesar Gusmão and hired Oswaldo de Oliveira (ex Fluminense coach). Well I'm not a very big fan of him. He will have a hell of a job to stay unbeaten against Santos without 4 players...
Santos @1.95 Victor Chandler 7/10
I thought a little about U/O, but... both teams can score, and H2H is leaning to OVER, but Cruzeiro just 7 scored and 6 conceded so far on away game, and Santos by defoult under team... big no bet at U/O play

Re: Midweek Brasilerio
Fluminense - Corinthians
Emerson Leão has pretty hard task. He must start winning with gropu of great but unhappy players. New coach of Timao will have hard first game at the bench of last years champions. They are playing away from home against excellent Fluminense squad.
Timao is in last position on the Serie A table, and they have just 13 points from 16 games. In last 10 games they have ugly 1-1-8 form, and away from home this season they have 2-0-6. First thing as new coach will be to change formation from 3-5-2 to 4-4-2 and to talk to the players, said coach Leao. For this game coach have some problems with suspended and injured players: Sebá and Marcelo Mattos, are suspended. André Leone, Bruno Octavio and Rosinei, injured, and Silvio Luiz has some minor problems. Well this look big, when we say that Nilmar is out also. But if Corinthians players made their peace bettwen themselfs, I think this 4-5 player can't make any difference. They were CHAMPIONS last year, and they have more less same squad. They didn't forgot how to play football, they just forgot that football is playing for FUN.
Fluminense had great game in sunday. They were trailing by 2-1 and they won 3-2 in '90 minute. They have decent form in last 10 games, 4-3-3 and they are excellent home side with just one loss this season. Coach Josué Teixeira have some injury and suspension problems for this one. Thiago, Arouca, Juliano, Marcelo and Thiago Silva are all out (injured, or suspended) for this game.
Probable squads:
FLUMINENSE: Fernando Henrique, Marcão, Gabriel Santos e Roger; Rogério, Angelo, Romeu (Radamés), Petkovic e Jean; Lenny e Tuta
Técnico: Josué Teixeira
CORINTHIANS: Marcelo; Coelho, Betão, Marcus Vinícius e Gustavo Nery (Rubens Junior); Paulo Almeida, Mascherano, Carlos Alberto e Roger (Renato); Carlitos Tevez e Rafael Moura.
Técnico: Emerson Leão

Re: Midweek Brasilerio
Goias - Botafogo
Game bettwen two troubled teams. Goias after good start, are now in 7 games without a win series. They have 2-2-6 in alst 10 games. But old-new coach Geninho (ex Corinthians) is back, and he will continue where he laef earlier this season. For this game Geninho will be without Júlio Santos, and left lateral Jadílson, but in the team are back Fabiano, Danilo Portugal and forward Souza.
Botafogo and their coach Cuca will have problems of their own. First keeper Lopes and influental defender Scheidt are out for this game. In last 1-0 games they have 2-6-2 form.
Probable squads:
GOIÁS: Harlei; Rogério Correa, Fabiano e Leonardo; Vitor, Cléber, Danilo Portugal, Romerito e Luciano Almeida; Welliton e Souza
Técnico: Geninho
BOTAFOGO: Max; Ruy, Juninho, Rafael Marques e Júnior César; Diguinho, Claiton, Joílson e Zé Roberto; Marcelinho e Reinaldo
Técnico: Cuca

Re: Midweek Brasilerio
Cheers Milos, Quick question though...
I've read in a couple of sports articles that Corinthians have a very radical fan base. They tend to cheer their teams ONLY when they are doing well and will actually rattle their own team at home by booing them...? Especially those want away players like Tevez. Would you say that timao would actually perform better away from home then, where they actually have less of their own fans heckling them...? I find that so sad that their own fans would boo their own team when things are down rather than cheering them on to raise their game. Is that very common for the Brasilian leagues...? Cheers.

Re: Midweek Brasilerio
Hi Milos.
Have followed you on Santos after your excellent write-ups.
I see that the odds have been falling since you took that 1.95!
Best of luck with your selections,

Re: Midweek Brasilerio
Thanks Milos, No wonder the better players want out... More dosh and better support from fans in Europe major leagues. There are some boo boys out here but more towards players that have gone out of hand... Not so much booing of the WHOLE team...
Still trying to figure out how this will factor into the various teams' motivation factor...? Cheers.
