Re: Midweek MLS

Interesting NEWS from Goal.com
Real Salt Lake are interested in acquiring DaMarcus Beasley from PSV by the end of the current transfer window. RSL are offering Beasley a MLS maximum salary, three wives, and permission to drink caffeinated beverages.

A 24-year-old woman in Israel survived a rocket attack when her silicone breast implants blocked shrapnel from hitting her heart, another reason the Nooner is okay with implants.

Re: Midweek MLS

COLUMBUS CREW v REAL SALT LAKE
Two teams currently out of the playoff picture in their respective conferences meet in the intersectional matchup in Columbus. The Crew haven't won in 12 consecutive games as they settled at the foot of the Eastern Conference, but find themselves just four points out of the playoff picture with 10 games left. Real Salt Lake have put together a two-game winning streak and are unbeaten in three, but they still find themselves seven points adrift of fourth place and the last playoff place in the Western Conference.

INJURY REPORT: COLUMBUS CREW - OUT: MF Danny Szetela (R knee); MF Leonard Bisaku (R quadriceps), GK Jonny Walker (lower back), DF Jed Zayner (L knee ACL); DF Frankie Hejduk (R knee ACL); GK Jon Busch (R knee ACL) ... REAL SALT LAKE - OUT: DF Paul Broome (L ankle internal derangement); MF Seth Trembly (L knee ACL tear); MF Christian Jimenez (L knee ACL tear); DF Danny Torres (R foot sprain); PROBABLE: DF Nelson Akwari (R hip contusion); DF Cameron Knowles (L hamstring strain);: DF Eddie Pope (R foot contusion)

SUSPENDED: RSL: Douglas Sequeira (through Aug. 16)
SUSPENDED NEXT YELLOW CARD: CLB: Jose Retiz ... RSL: Jeff Cunningham
SUSPENDED AFTER TWO YELLOW CARDS: CLB: Ritchie Kotschau, Brandon Moss, Joseph Ngwenya ... RSL: Scott Garlick, Jason Kreis, Carey Talley, Andy Williams
INTERNATIONAL ABSENCES: none

(Source MLS webbie)
With the mess Crews are in, RSL looks tempting after two victories on the road. Last game against Colarado saw the best of them with a 4 goal victory. They seem to be playing with much more confidence after the Real Madrid exhibition game where they lost 2 nil.
Verdict : Will await Kiko's expertise on MLs

Re: Midweek MLS

columbus-r.s.l.

columbus is 12 games without a win and this is probable best game in this season to win home......
only 1 win so far at home ground 1/5/4 6:10

r.l.s. is taem that could make big suprise playing away like last win over colorado 4-1,but overall they are very week on the road 3/0/7 14:16...

H2H :
only 3 games so far and all of them columbus wos the winner...

probable most a=of the people not gonna agree with me but i think that columbus someday have to start winning again so home win for me,also under should be exelent bet for this game, columbus is having problems with scoring but defence is very good at home games...

COLUMBUS@2.25 3 PTS
UNDER 2,5 4 PTS

chicago -kanzas city

"You don’t see a back-to-back series in soccer very often.

But that’s exactly what’s happening after the Chicago Fire’s 2-0 victory over the Kansas City Wizards Monday in the Open Cup, the United States’ version of England’s FA Cup.

“Tonight we had a glimpse of what`s to come; there were a lot of bright spots and I`d like to use this momentum,” Chicago coach Dave Sarachan told MLSnet.com. “We can use tonight`s win to start heading north and not south.”

Both teams used the game to play many of their younger players and by all accounts the Chicago youngsters passed their auditions with flying colors. The game also marked the return of All-Star defender Jim Curtin who had been out since early May with a fractured foot.

“I`ve been saying it all year, I feel we`re a deep team. Knock on wood, we`re also healthy now,” said Sarachan. “Wednesday is an important game for the Chicago Fire; we`ve got to win.”

after 4 games without a win at home ,this the game for chicago....

CHICAGO @2.05 3 PTS

New York Red Bulls - Washington D.C. United

n.y is playing very good in last 4 games 3/1/0 5:1 with just 1 goal recive from houston, but d.c. after that strange??unfortunate?? or maybe something else?? loss from r.l.s. thay gonna try to contunue where they left...killing the oponent in mls ...
again bookies is making mistake giving that huge price for d.c. team that looking the h2h just love to play soccer in n.y...... 6 games so far: 4 wins 1 draw and just 1 loss 2 years ago......this two team already play in n.y. this year and d.c. won 4-1....

h2h overall d.c. is impresive just 2 draws and two loses 8/2/2

D.C. @ 2.3 6 pts

oooooooo..............
if there is one more late goal in the net of d.c. like that against l.a. or that comedy with r.s.l. i`m gonna stop betting on d.c. for this season

I agree with you here Igor.

When you look at RSL's wins they have all come up against the better sides as they seem to raise their games for teams like DC, LA, NE etc.

Its also against the sides that like to play football too.

Against the weaker outfits they seem to struggle more times than not. Columbus is a side that plays the way RSL hates.

More of an aggresive game Columbus has rather than a footballing passing game.

Defensively Columbus are quite solid for me and its just a goalscorer they lack.

Good record v RSL. Played them 3 times and never lost winning all 3.

Columbus don't have any major injury doubts while RSL are missing a few defenders.

Sequiera is an international anda good defender for them. Has chipped in with crucial goals this seasn and he will be missed at tha back along with other starter Torres.

Akwari and Pope are probable but these two are also regulars so RSL could potentially be missing their whole starting defence.

Like Igor i do think this is Columbus's best chance to get a win on the board and i expect them too.

RSL are a very very unpredictable side as they have shown recently though so be cautios.

Columbus to win @ 2.25 (4/10)

Tricky game this.

Wouldn't look into the cup game 2 day ago as many reserves were played.

2 sides going in opposite directions right now. Chicago winless at home in their last 5 games now againt Kansas coming into a bit of form unbeaten in 3 league games.

Kansas playing quite well for me actually and Sealey has come in ahead of Wolff and stake his claim for a regular spot getting a couple of goals.

Doesn't have the injury reports just yet up so will come back and have a look tomorow the current situation but the asian handicap/double chance on Kansas would be my pick.

Conrad should be back from suspension to shore up the defence which will be a boostto Kansas.

Kansas +0.5 Asian handicap @ 1.72 (6/10)

Re: Midweek MLS

DC tempt me but after the RSL fiasco im going to give them a miss.

Tought game mind with Red Bulls having Arena is charge now and also Djorkaeff back in the fold after scoring at he weekend against Barcelona.

The games a bit drawwy for me and best left alone but will be cheering you on.

Re: Midweek MLS

MLS Preview: New York Red Bulls v. D.C. United
New York Red Bulls (5-6-9, 24 pts) vs. D.C. United (13-2-6, 45 pts)
When: 7:30 pm ET, Wednesday, August 16, 2006
Where: Giants Stadium, East Rutherford, New Jersey

It’s been talked about for weeks, but it’s finally time for head coach Bruce Arena to lead the New York Red Bulls against his former club, D.C. United. After an opening week draw, the Black-and-Red crushed New York 4-1 three weeks later. Redeeming themselves won’t be easy with Seth Stammler and Danny O’Rourke suspended for the match. But with the recent addition of gritty midfielder Dema Kovalenko and Youri Djorkaeff’s return from personal leave, there will be help. Look for Kovalenko to get the nod in defensive midfield with O’Rourke out and Mark Lisi injured. Mike Magee will likely replace Stammler, but whether he plays in the midfield or at forward will depend on where Arena chooses to play Djorkaeff.

Last we saw United in a MLS match they suffered their first loss in fifteen matches in a 2-1 defeat in Salt Lake. Still, with a U.S. Open Cup win against Columbus and an impressive 1-1 draw against Real Madrid since, there is hardly cause for concern. A repeat performance of their last trip to the Meadowlands to spoil Bruce Arena’s MLS home opener against their rivals would be extra special for the organization, and more importantly their fans. With no injuries or suspensions to speak of, Peter Nowak and the Black-and-Red look to continue their already impressive season.

It’s safe to say that the Red Bulls are not the same team they were when United beat them up earlier this season. Now undefeated in their last four and with a couple of weeks of training from Arena, the question will be how much have they really changed? Will the wide-open play New York showed in their exhibition loss against Barcelona be on display? Not likely, but B.A. Baracus will certainly be pushing this team to be more offensive then they have been. He will make them a better team, but they still have a long way to go before they are better than this D.C. team. It’s doubtful Arena will be able to come close to that this season.

Goal.com Prediction: New York Red Bulls 1, D.C. United 2

Re: Midweek MLS

rsl has been a real pain in the rear-end whenever you bet against them recently !! they raise their games against teams like columbus, la, dc but they play miserbly against weaker teams.....

Re: Midweek MLS

RSL are becoming a real bogey team for me. 2-1 up now

Im sick of this. Every damn week my team takes the lead and then holds onto it until the last 20 mins or so and throws the game away after having plenty of chances to kill them off.

Bloody joke
