Re: Spanish Football 14th-15th October

Sorry, this one's very late, kicks off in 15 mins (18:30 Spanish time, 17:30 UK time), but have decided to go with Castellon after all. Hercules have got a lot of first teamers missing, including their keeper (his visa has expired and he now can't leave Togo, where he was on international duty ), Galindo, Nadal, Albacar, de los Santos and Graff. No time to list their stats, but the first 4 of those are regulars, de los Santos has played 3 times, only Graff is yet to play.

Castellon have some players out - Tabares, Mora, Baigorri and Gutierrez, but they've had problems for the last few games now, and it's not showing any signs of affecting them. They also have a few injured players back, including Aurelio.

Given the players missing for Hercules and given Castellon's form, I've taken Castellon (-0.5) with Bet365 @ 2.1

Edit - 2pts on that, low stakes as I'm slightly wary still of the "new manager" effect.

I have better listen to you. Thank you, you have done what was in your power to keep me off Real game. But I was too stuborn. I dont know I started to pick the losers. Komp saved me with Stenny, You with real. Its seems I will ahve to invest much more work, than I did till now. And maybe go off the lowerrligas.

Re: Spanish Football 14th-15th October

I think Marca's current headline says it all there - "Perez Lima (the ref) awards Atletico the win" . Still, should've finished 0-0, as the Huelva player dived for their penalty too. Oh well, got a decent run for my money there.

Johnny, hope you didn't lose too much with Real Madrid

Oh, and I should've trusted my initial instincts on not going against Hercules

Re: Spanish Football 14th-15th October

Only one more for me tomorrow I think, unless anything happens to grab my attention in the Segunda B. Levante, for the first time in ages, have nearly a full squad to choose from - the only player still missing for them is Ian Harte. Berson and Ze Maria are set to return to the squad, although they're unlikely to start given the form their replacements have been in recently. Mallorca also have a near full squad to choose from, only Hector will be missing for them. I've been on Mallorca a few times since the start of the season, and have been let down nearly every time, and on both teams' recent form, I think it's worth going with Levante here. After a terrible start, conceding 4 to both Sevilla and Real Madrid, Levante have since gone on a 3 game unbeaten run. The 3 teams they've played in that run have already played Mallorca (at the same venues), and Levante have a better record in all of them - away to Zaragoza (Levante drew 2-2, Mallorca lost 2-0), home to Deportivo (Levante won 2-0, Mallorca drew 0-0) and away to Huelva (Levante won 1-0, Mallorca drew 1-1). Levante have also won the last 3 H2Hs against Mallorca. All in all, well worth a shot at the current price, I think.

Levante v Mallorca @ 2.3 3pts

Re: Spanish Football 14th-15th October

Barcelona have left Puyol and Van Bronckhorst out of the squad for tonight's game against Sevilla. According to Marca, it seems they may also be resting Gudjohnsen (Saviola will come in if that's the case) and Messi (Giuly would come in). Eto'o is obviously out too through injury.

Marca's predicted lineups:

Barcelona: Valdés, Zambrotta, Thuram, Márquez, Sylvinho, Iniesta, Xavi, Deco, Giuly, Ronaldinho and Saviola or Gudjohnsen.
Sevilla: Palop, Daniel, Javi Navarro, Escudé, Dragutinovic or Puerta, Navas, Poulsen, Renato, Martí, Adriano and Kanouté

Can't remember where I read that now, but wherever it was, they were lying Turns out they've got Senna back, but are still without Nihat, Josico, Pires, Gonzalo and Guille Franco. Still think they should have too much for Espanyol though. Espanyol's away stats are absolutely terrible. Their last away win was on the 15th January 2006. Since then, they've played 11, managing just 2 draws (1-1 at both Bilbao and Zaragoza), and losing the rest, scoring 2 goals and conceding 27 in the process.

Espanyol have had a bit of a clear out in their squad, dropping Riera, Jónatas, Jonathan, Luis García and Edu Costa, and bringing in a couple of players from the youth team.

Espanyol have lost here 4-0 and 4-1 in the last two seasons.

Have decided to add one more bet for today, a short-priced double, but one I'm fairly confident on, Villarreal and Rayo Vallecano (who kick off in 15 mins, sorry for short notice ). Rayo starting to look ominous in the Segunda B now, 4 wins and a draw from their last 5, up against Orientacion Maritima who have lost all 3 away games so far this season, scoring 1 and conceding 8 in the process.

Villarreal and Rayo Vallecano @ 2.41 (Sporting Odds) - 4pt double

Re: Spanish Football 14th-15th October

Not yet, Jesus, but you'll be able to get them here http://www.marca.com/marcador/rfsh/l...nes_1a_09.html once they're known.

I wouldn't worry about the changes too much anyway - Saviola and Giuly are more than capable replacements for Gudjohnsen and Messi, while Thuram will take Puyol's place.

Re: Spanish Football 14th-15th October

Cheers.

I would prefer Saviola starting actually as Gudjohnson holds up the ball and slows it down a bit too much at times.

Looking forward to next weeks odds and backing Barcelona to beat a terrible Madrid side

good point,Real Madrid played sh.t yesterday, they didn't create single chance, and what is more important, there was absolutely no idea in midfield with Guti like key man :
