Re: Irish Eircom Leagues: 20th/21st Oct

Ah the Irish thread, excellent. Cheers Komp.
Anyway have only glanced through the card thus far but will give my full thoughts tomorrow. However one game that is of interest is the Galway V Dundalk game in Div 1. Absolutely huge game for both teams.

Dundalk play their biggest game in 5 years tomorrow when they travel west to Galway in a game that will be crucial to both sides title aspirations.A draw helps nobody except Rovers so it should be a cracking game.Galway are unbeaten at home all season and Dundalk are unbeaten in 19 games. The irresistable Force V The Immovable Object if you will.

Even though Chiefs from Dundalk there shant be any bias in my prediction, I reckon it'll end 4-0 to D'Town! Nah only messing, however I do reckon Dundalk could nick this and extend the longest unbeaten record in the country. The teams have played 3 times this season and Dundalk have won two and the other game ended in a draw.

Philly Hughes scored both those winners and the divisions top scorer has 6 goals in his last 3 games(20 all season). The lads a legend. Anyway hopefully it'll be a cracking game and Pigheads praying the lilywhites can sneak a result. I'm going for a 1-0 away win. Be wary of the draw though. C'MON THE TOWN!

Dundalk to win @ 11/5
Dundalk 1-0 @15/2
Cover bet 2-2 @14/1

Re: Irish Eircom Leagues: 20th/21st Oct

I've just seen the subject of Kilkenny v Shamrock come up in the non-league thread, although there's no mention of it here, with Keith and Chief both thinking Shamrock are a very good thing. I know absolutely nothing about this league (thought I'd best get that disclaimer in first ), BUT... looking at the stats, I see that Shamrock only drew 0-0 away to Kilkenny back in June. Their last 5 away games also include draws at Monaghan and Kildare, second and third from bottom respectively. I know Kilkenny have gone well and truly shite by the looks of things, with a 0-2-17 record for their last 19 games, but one of those two draws was the one against Shamrock. Is there not even a chance that Shamrock might fail to break them down again?

Very much doubt it rcgills. Kilkenny actually had a decent start to their league campaign this year and were in the top half of the table after 6 or 7 games(they drew with Rovers during this period) but its been misery ever since. As you already said they've drawn 2 and lost 17 of their last 19 games.

Their manager, Fitzpatrick, decided about 10 games ago that the season was a lost cause and hes been blooding youngsters since, in an attempt to get things sorted for next season. (No relegation in Irish 1st Division, although think it may be changing after this season). Although sadly for him he won't be around to see how they get on as he got sacked last week. Quite frankly they are a shambles and the end of the season can't come soon enough.

Shamrock Rovers on the other hand will be all out to continue their recent winning run(have won 4/5 only losing to table toppers Galway) and they know that a win could be crucial especially with one or both of their rivals dropping points tonight. (Dundalk play Galway in a top of the table clash tonight).

So basically I'd be surprised X 100 if Kilkenny got anything out of tonights game. However for those who are thinking of backing Rovers HT-FT @Evens or -1 should be a bit careful as they tend to win their away games by single goals.

Cheers Chief Think I'll steer clear myself, don't like backing teams at that short a price unless I know what I'm doing, which I certainly don't in this league (whether I do in any other league either is debateable, but there you go ). Good luck to you and anyone else on them though

Anybody thinking of having a bet on Dundalk should hold off for a while. Their man man and top scorer Philly Hughes is apparently an injury doubt. Hopefully he'll be ok, otherwise its no bet for me.

Re: Irish Eircom Leagues: 20th/21st Oct

Well boys whats the crack. Im headin up to this Galway United match tonight and while i will be cheering on the boys in maroon i wont be betting on them. Dundalk have really impressed me in the last few weeks and have got 10 goals in the last 3 games and apart from a shit start have been the best team in the division. I just hope we have Wes Charles our centre back for tonight he had to go off last week against Finn Harps. Against that we are on a great winning run and there should be a near capacity crowd of 3000-3500 for this one. So to be honest i think this is a no bet game. Good luck whatever ye decide anyways. There is radio coverage on www.galwaybayfm.ie for anyone that is interested.

I dont really fancy anything in the eircom league again this week, ive had too many losses here in the last few weeks.

Re: Irish Eircom Leagues: 20th/21st Oct

Hey ya Ceirtlis cheers for the link. Couldn't make it over to Galway tonight. Heres hoping for a cracking game and a great result for the good guys(thats Dundalk by the way!)

Anyway just 1 pick for me in the Premier League tonight.
Cork City V Sligo @8/15: The wheels are starting to come off for Sligo after a great 1st half to the season. A fortunate victory against Pats has been their only victory in the past 6 games. They drew twice with non league Killester ,drew with bottom club Waterford and got hammered 4-0 last week to Derry. Most important of all though they were hammered 3-0 by Cork when playing at home a month ago. Cork still have a slight chance to lift the title and won't give up until its mathematically impossible. They lost last wek to Bray but their form before that was decent with 3 wins and two draws.

Recommended Bet: Cork City @8/15 8/10, Cork City HT-FT @11/8 5/10
