Mexico's Necaxa have declared their interest in Juventus goalkeeper Gigi Buffon.

Backed by local television money, Necaxa sports director Alex Aguinaga revealed: "Buffon is an objective for us in sight of the next Copa Libertadores campaign. For the operation, there is Javier Perez Teuffer, Pedro Cota and Juan Garcia Malo - three leaders of the club - working on it.

"Currently he plays still in Serie B with Juve and he has not decided to leave. In case he did, we will be there. It's a complicated but not difficult operation."

Gremio and Boca attempt to avoid early exits

RIO DE JANEIRO, April 23 (Reuters) - Former champions Gremio and Boca Juniors need to win their last matches in group stage of the Libertadores Cup this week to avoid early exits.
Both teams, who have already seen their arch-rivals fall at the first hurdle, enter the final week of qualifying outside the top two places in their respective groups.
Internacional, Gremio's neighbours in the southern Brazilian city of Porto Alegre, failed to qualify from Group Four last week.
The defending champions were edged out by Nacional on goal difference despite beating the Uruguayans 1-0 on Thursday.
Boca's eternal rivals River Plate were astonishingly eliminated by Venezuela's Caracas FC in Group Six.
Gremio, who won the second of their two titles in 1995 under current Portugal coach Luiz Felipe Scolari, must beat Paraguay's Cerro Porteno at home on Tuesday to go through from Group Three.
Cerro, Deportes Tolima and Gremio each have seven points from five games, but Gremio trail on goal difference.

Colombian champions Cucuta are one point behind and visit compatriots Tolima the same evening.
Gremio coach Mano Menezes, who steered the team out of the second division in 2005 and to third place in the Brazilian championship last year, completed two years in the job on Saturday -- an eternity in the volatile world of Brazilian coaching.
His biggest problem has been in attack, with his side managing a paltry three goals in five outings.
Boca have also had trouble scoring in Group Seven and must beat eliminated Bolivar by two goals at home on Thursday to be certain of qualifying.
Boca have scored five goals in five games, all at home, have seven points and a goal difference of minus one.

Audax Italiano might pay for their inability to win the important home game against Sao Paulo and have only a slim chance of getting through as Necaxa is more than capable to beat Alianza Lima at home.

IMO Cucuta Deportivo can get something out of this and ill be on the AH when it comes out.

Gremio nothing special but should be able to win this by a single goal, though under might be the safer option..

Chilean Audax travel to Brazil to play against Sao Paulo

The Chilean soccer club Audax Italiano traveled Monday to Brazil to play its last game in Copa Libertadores' first phase, against Sao Paulo's club on Wednesday.

The Chilean soccer club coached by Raul Toro has 10 points in Group Two, the same as Sao Paulo. However Mexican Necaxa has nine points and will play at home against Alianza Lima which has not won any game in Copa Libertadores.

The only regular player absent in Audax Italiano is its captain Jorge Carrasco to be replaced Fernando Gutierrez, who will arrive with the other players at around midday to Brazil.

On Wednesday together with Sao Paulo and Audax, in Sao Paulo city, the game between Necaxa and Alianza Lima will be played in Aguascalientes, Mexico.

Champions' Cup Winner to be Determined This Week

The winner of the 2007 edition of the CONCACAF Champions’ Cup™, will be determined tomorrow evening (25 April) when Mexican clubs Pachuca CF and CD Guadalajara face each other for the CONCACAF crown in the second-leg of the two-game finale.

The first-leg of the “all-tricolor” final ended all square as the two sides played to a 2:2 tie at CD Guadalajara’s Estadio Jalisco on 18 April.

The decisive return-leg will take place at the Estadio Hidalgo in Pachuca on 25 April, when the home team stage their first-ever Champions’ Cup Final.

CD Guadalajara were the winners of the inaugural Champions’ Cup in 1962, but have not won the CONCACAF crown since that year. Meanwhile, the last time Pachuca CF played for the CONCACAF Champions’ Cup™ title was in 2002, in Mexico City, when they defeated CA Monarcas Morelia (MEX) in the first “all-tricolor” final.

In addition to becoming the CONCACAF Champion, the winner will also have a chance to play as the CONCACAF representative against the world’s best teams in the FIFA Club World Cup Japan 2007. The consolation for the Champions’ Cup runner-up is a place in the Copa Nissan Sudamericana later this year as one of three CONCACAF invitees to the South American club tournament.

how about Toluca Vs Cienciano game? Cienciano doing very well in the Peru championsip, being 3rd of 12 at the moment with 6-4-3, won last week 3-2 Bolognesi Tacna away. On the other hand, Toluca really struggling at the moment in the mexican league, being 16th of 18 with 2-10(!)-4. Last week Toluca went 0-0 with Cruz Azul and they lost 0-2 at home by the leaders Pashuca 2 weeks ago.
