Mallorca seem to be on a good run, Shouldnt have too many changes for their game v Cadiz who aint playing as well as they could have. 1.90 avalable on the home. anyone see why i shouldnt chance it?
Alaves have attacker Bodipo back. Played well at Cadiz at the weekend. Great at home v Sevilla. Celta vigo will be missing Canobbio. anyone see any value in alves at about 6/4?

Re: Spanish midweek stuff 21-23 March
Thanks for all that, tallipoika
Few previews from me:
Osasuna v Real Sociedad:
Osasuna have a doubt over Savo Milosevic, who picked up a knock in the game v Espanyol at the weekend. The four players who were suspended at the weekend (Ricardo López, Raúl García, Ludovic Delporte and Moha) all return.
Sociedad have serious doubts over Morten Skoubo up front. Igor Jauregi is still out, meaning they're likely to have the same defence as on Sunday, while Gaizka Garitano will be missing, Sergio Boris will take his place.
PROBABLE LINEUPS (from ESPN):
OSASUNA: Ricardo; Javier Flaño, Cuéllar, Josetxo, Corrales; David López, Puñal, Raúl García, Delporte; Valdo and Romeo.
REAL SOCIEDAD: Alberto; López Rekarte, Labaka, Viáfara, Garrido; Mikel Alonso, Sergio Boris, Stevanovic, Mark González; Nihat and Uranga.
--------
Osasuna seem to have bounced back to form in the last couple of games, an aggressive performance seeing off Barcelona last week, and then an impressive 4-2 win at Espanyol at the weekend. It's the second best home team (10-2-2) against the worst away team (2-1-10), and I see no reason to go against the form book in this one. Sociedad may have won at Deportivo last weekend, but Deportivo are a VERY strange team this season, they seem to be cursed at home, and so I'm not reading too much into that. Sociedad are 3-3-13 for their last 19 games, with the wins (apart from Deportivo) coming v Mallorca and Cádiz, both teams struggling near the bottom. Milosevic possibly missing would be a blow for Osasuna (who else is going to dive to win them penalties ), but they managed 4 goals on Sunday, and he only scored one of them, so the rest of the team has goals in them. Mind you, have just checked the stats on AS, and Milosevic has missed 5 league games this season, during which Osasuna are 0-2-3. Actually, just checked the Osasuna website, and Milosevic isn't even in the squad, so he's definitely out for tonight. I'd guess the bookies have got wind of that too, as Osasuna are now out to 1.72 with Bet365, or 1.80 on the asian handicap (-0.5).
I think Osasuna are a class above Sociedad though, with or without Milosevic, and I think the 1.80 is well worth taking.
Osasuna (-0.5) v Real Sociedad @ 1.80 5pts

Re: Spanish midweek stuff 21-23 March
Valencia v Villarreal:
Santi Cañizares returns for Valencia following his suspension at the weekend, and Fabián Ayala is in contention for a place in the starting line up, having returned to the squad for the last game after 3 months out injured. Carlos Marchena may lose his place as a result.
ESPN think Miguel may also be in line to start on the right wing. Pablo Aimar is also expected to return in place of Mista'.
Valencia will be without Fabio Aurelio, Patrick Kluivert, Vicente Rodríguez and Edu through injury, while Mora, Carboni and Rufete have been left out by the manager.
For Villarreal, Riquelme is back after suspension. ESPN say this means either that Guille Franco will be pushed up front alongside Forlán, or that he'll be on the bench and José Mari will be up front with Forlán.
Villarreal will be without Roger García, Juan Pablo Sorín, Javi Venta and Antonio Guayre through injury.
PROBABLE LINEUPS (from ESPN):
VALENCIA: Cañizares, Miguel, Ayala, Albiol, Moretti; Angulo, Albelda, Baraja, Regueiro; Aimar and Villa.
VILLARREAL: Viera, Josemi, Gonzalo, Alvarez, Arruabarrena; Senna, Tacchinardi, Font, Riquelme: Jose Mari or Guille Franco and Forlán.
-------------
Tough one to call this. Valencia are in pretty poor form of late, 4 games without a win, and at the weekend they lost their 16 game unbeaten run (which incidentally stretched back to when they last played Villarreal at the start of November, with Villarreal winning 1-0). Villarreal aren't in the best of form either at the moment, especially away from home where they've now gone 6 games without a win (0-3-3). H2H stats between these two in Valencia are very much in the home side's favour - Valencia have won the last 4 meetings at the Mestalla (including one in the UEFA Cup and one in the Spanish Cup), and have won 7 of the last 8 overall.
This one's too close to call for me. If I was forced to choose, I'd probably just about side with Valencia. For anyone interested, Valencia (-0.5) is 1.95 with Bet365, with Villarreal (+0.5) the same price. No bet for me though.

Re: Spanish midweek stuff 21-23 March
Savo is huge blow for Osasuna cause he is main man in this pretty even squad, man that can make the difference.....Savo is lucky guy for this Osasuna squad cause they are winless without him.....He showed great class in the Espanol game, the trio upfront made all the goals, together with ofensive midfilder Munoz......All of goals was classy act aparently.....Osasuna is in the great form, they just choked Barsa all over the place, they were losing against Espanol and they turned the game upside down.......My only worry besides Savo is that Osasuna and Real Sociedad are friendly clubs and they were ready for the gifts in some earlier seasons.......

They can be as friendly as they like, Prsljen, but in earlier seasons Osasuna haven't been in the running for the Champions League. If they're prepared to throw away the chance of three crucial points towards the Champions League places (and let's not forget that if they finish 2nd, they'll go directly into the group stages, rather than having to qualify), then they're fools.
Of course, that's not to say that Sociedad won't get something out of this one, but I'm pretty confident that they won't.

Re: Spanish midweek stuff 21-23 March
Hi folks,
as there is not much action exept spain I decided to look bit closer and have few fancies.
First I realy like Real madrid as they mostly win when we dont expect that from them. They were trashed last time in Zarragosa, but I think wont happened again.
Second Osasuna-sociedad for me have draw written all over it.
Third as many other I fancy Villareal to take something in Valencia and will go for x2
Fourth Fancy Betis that after exit in uefa to concentrate in spain liga and ensure their stay before last stages.
Fifth Mallorca to continue superb form and win against strugling Cadiz.
I am not expert for spain football, but have nice feeling that this round could be profitable.
Cheers and dont mind me droping in

Re: Spanish midweek stuff 21-23 March
RC
Any thoughts on the Numancia/hercules game in the Segunda Division.
Numancia's home form is a bit patchy, but they have won their last three
games at home, scoring 8 and conceding only 1
Hercules are pretty poor travellers, with a record of 2-4-8 and 9F-20A.
I was thinking of taking a chance with Numancia @ 5/6 in PaddyPowers.
Any thoughts ???

Re: Spanish midweek stuff 21-23 March
Leeside,
I'll move on to that one once I've finished my lunch . Anyway, it's a rearranged game from about a month ago, and I was on Numancia back then, until it was snowed off. If you look at the Spanish threads from about a month ago, you should find my comments from back then.
Back in a bit
And Johnny, the more the merrier, feel free to pop in any time you like

Re: Spanish midweek stuff 21-23 March
Numancia v Hercules:
This is what I wrote on this game when it was originally supposed to be played (bear in mind all stats, prices, etc., were for the original game)

Numancia are 4-3-0 for their last 7 games (which includes draws away to the top 2 teams, and a win away to Almeria who are top of the "home" form table for the season). Hercules, meanwhile, won their last game, but that was at home to struggling Castellon, but prior to that they'd lost 5 of their previous 6, and they've gone 9 away games without a win.
Not having much luck finding very much team news yet, although it seems Numancia are thinking about giving Hamilton Ricard (ex-Middlesborough striker) his first start for them, having come off the bench to score away to Xerez last week.
If I manage to find any team news around tomorrow, I'll post it here, but Numancia (-0.5) at 2.025 looks pretty good to me at first glance
|
Since then, Numancia have won 2 and lost 1, taking them to 6-3-1 for their last 10 games, and they've won their last 4 home games. Hércules meanwhile have won 1 and lost 1, taking them to 2-2-6 for their last 10 games, and have now lost 6 of their last 8 away from home. They've also managed just 7 goals from 14 away games this season, and 1 goal in their last 5 away games.
However, it seems that Numancia have got some major team problems. They'll be without Montenegro (midfielder, joined in January, Numancia are 5-2-0 with him in the team), Tarantino (defender on loan from Athletic, 5-2-1 with him in the team) and Graff (defender, played 17 games this season). Things are complicated by the fact that that means both their normal left sided players are out, and they're going to have to completely alter that side of the team. As a result, AS says that Juanpa will play on the left and Yanguas on the right.
Hércules will be without Palacios (defender, played 15 games this season), Tortolero (defender, 6 games played), Mora (midfielder, 20 games played), Vicente (defender, 12 games played) and Schiavi (defender, joined in January, 7 games played) through injury. Redondo (midfielder, just 4 games played) returns to the squad.
Think I'll be avoiding this one. Numancia should be the stronger team, and both teams have got injury problems, but the fact Numancia are going to have to field a completely new look left flank is enough to put me off. No bet for me.

Re: Spanish midweek stuff 21-23 March
Mallorca v Cádiz:
Mallorca are at full strength for this one, and are likely to field the same lineup as they did against Sevilla at the weekend.
Cádiz will be without Benjamín, Iván Ania, Pavoni and Mirosavljevic, all recovering from injuries. Juanjo Bezares will also miss out through suspension.
Alejandro Varela returns from suspension. Armando and Berizzo also return to the squad, but are unlikely to start.
PROBABLE LINEUPS (from ESPN):
MALLORCA: Toni Prats; Cortés, Nunes, Ballesteros, Fernando Navarro; Jonás Gutiérrez, Pereyra, Basinas, Tuni; Arango and Pisculichi.
CADIZ: Limia; Varela, Paz, De Quintana, Raúl López; Suárez, Fleurquin; Estoyanoff, Lobos, Sesma; and Medina.
--------------
As Komp mentions, Mallorca are on a reasonable run at the moment, unbeaten in 6 overall, and unbeaten in 3 at home (including a 2-1 win against Real Madrid). Cádiz are pretty poor away from home, and have managed just 6 points from their last 10 away games. They're also the league's lowest scorers, with just 20 goals from 28 games this season.
Everything points to a Mallorca win, but there's something nagging away at the back of my mind saying no. No idea why, but I think I need to give this one some more thought.

Re: Spanish midweek stuff 21-23 March
Komp, to be honest I wouldn't want to make any kind of prediction for Alaves v Celta Vigo. I hate Alaves, I can't predict them at all. The President has turned them into a joke of a club, and they're capable of anything. Celta Vigo aren't bad, but they put in a truly awful performance on Sunday in losing at home to Bilbao.
Alaves will be without first choice keeper Franco Costanzo, who's in Argentina following a serious traffic accident involving several members of his family, plus his girlfriend. Roberto 'Tito' Bonano will be in goal, while Iosu Sarriegi, David Coromina, Santiago Carpintero and Rodolfo Bodipo return from suspension.
Borja Oubiña will be out for Celta. ESPN think they'll change from their usual 4-1-4-1 to a 4-2-3-1. Fabián Canobbio is doubtful, but is included in the squad. Sergio is injured, and Núñez is also out suspended.
PROBABLE LINEUPS (from ESPN):
DEPORTIVO ALAVES: Bonano; Edu Alonso, Iosu Sarriegi, Juanito, David Coromina; Astudillo, Santi Carpintero; Quique De Lucas, Nené; Rodolfo Bodipo and John Aloisi.
CELTA: Pinto; Angel, Contreras, Lequi, José Enrique; Iriney, Roberto, De Ridder, Jorge Larena, Silva; Baiano.
As I said, I have no idea with this one, no bet for me, could go any of three ways. Good luck to anyone who does back anything in this one.
